This dragon nymph pattern is very cool, it is suitable for trout in fresh water as in saltwater with sea basses. Congratulations on the wonderful bait, a big hug.
Yeah, so it’s definitely different than a wholly bugger and I would say fishes differently also. I’m glad you like it though, it does really work for sure!
Love this fly! Great tip on spinning the marabou. I will definitely use this.🎣 Bigger and different color and longer eyes might be a great saltwater shrimp pattern🤔. Liked the mono eyes vid. Thanks for sharing! Well done videography as well!👍👍 God Bless
Hey, you may look into tying an articulated dragon fly nymph. The naturals are very wiggly and active. I use them with great success in locations with noticeable dragon flies buzzing around. I’d love to see that.
@@McFlyAngler I make them using two nymph hooks abdomen and claspers on the back hook connected with lite braid line, thorax and head on the front and cut the back hook off. I can send you a pic if you like.
Cool, sure! I mean I think I can probably do one also from this pattern, but would love to see your take on a dragonfly also. Thanks! You have Instagram? Can you private message me there?
Yes you are correct it is a damselfly nymph. Problem is people will confuse the two and in order to get people to click, more people know about dragonflies or use that term (even for damsels). Sorry, a little bit of deviation to be able to get more views. But yes, if you read the description I said damselfly a few times. Dragonfly nymphs are actually not as long and thin. I was actually designing this to be more a damsel than a dragonfly
Dynaking makes great affordable and high quality vices. Highly recommend! I still have my first original vice I purchased in 2010 called kingfisher. I've now upgraded to the barracuda.
Hey McFly, absoloutely loved the video! although I have a sorta off beat question from one of your older videos. In the Reddington Classic Trout review you made I saw you also bought a 6 piece version of the rod, I was just wondering if this affected the action of the rod by having 2 additional rod sections and if there has been any segment slippage through using it, if you have done so. Im not really looking for too big of a reply just wondering if its worth buying for the compact size since the review was focused on the 4 piece.
I like the rod a lot. It might be slightly more stiff with the extra sections but not overly noticeable. If you are gonna need to stuff it into a backpack or have limited storage then I say go for it. If not, then go with the 4 piece. Hope that helps.
Anyone who is a fly fisher or fly tyer is my brother/sister....Long way to go to understand that you are part of the family...thanks again, Brother
Thanks

great tutorial miss you wish you were still in Colorado!!!
Thanks man, I also miss Colorado
I have patiently (or not so) waited for this video since the mono eyes vid! Thank you again. Hope to have time to tie up some of these soon!
Ha! Thanks man! Glad you liked it. Let me know how it works for you
Yeah nice and easy to tie I will make me one thanks for sharing beautiful job
Thank you
That is a neat pattern. I've never seen corded maribou like that before. I usually use chenille, but will give this a go.
👍 let me know how it does for you.
I really like this as an alternative to a woolybugger. I’m sure with no weight it has a more subtle presentation to the water and a slower sink rate.

Thanks brother, very informative & instructional...
Glad you liked it

Thanks for the recommendation, yeah I mean I could look into articulating this one….

great fly and job Kudos
Thanks!
looks more a damselfy nymph to me, but I suppose the main thing is that the trout eat it! Thanks for sharing a simple and effective fly.

excellent fly pattern
Thanks
where did you get your vice? the one i have was super cheap and is falling apart and im looking to get a better one

It looks like it's a Renzetti. Personally I have a Peak Vise and it's been pretty great.
Mine was a renzetti yes. The traveler. Good vise. Niel is right, dyna king makes an excellent vise as well
Looks Great! I have trouble cutting veevus tread even with new scissors. Do you?
No, never had much trouble. I’ve had these scissors for 2 years and never had issues. They cut pretty good
Nice pattern, what would you think of using bead chain eyes and soft hackle instead of the kraken dubbing?
Yeah try it. Now there is some weight to bead chain, so make sure it swims correctly and doesn’t flip over the fly. But give it a try.
