    Note: It's winter in South Australia, so things are a bit quiet right now. I might have to do the run again in Summer when the beach babes are about ;) Cheers Rob

    A new dash cam channel? Thanks for the drive around, I kept expecting a car to pull out in front of you! Didn't know Adelaide had trams.

      Hi Benny. I've just updated the firmware and am having a play with the settings. Adelaide has always had trams, but they all got pulled out years ago except for the Adelaide to Glenelg line (seen in the video). Now they are putting some back again (part of going green). They also electrified much of the rail car network. Typical Govt going in circles. Blame it all on the spin doctors ;) Cheers Rob

    I left Adelaide in 1989 and was last there in 1993 (briefly). Gee I hardly recognise anything! Glenelg and then the right turn along the Pat, driving in the direction of West Beach, I think it was Brighton at the start and the hills to the south looked like Marino, as my Late brother, had a block in that area. The rest? Thanks for the drive and the memories,

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're welcome Brian. Yes, Adelaide has changed a lot over the decades. It showed Brighton Road, Seacliff, Jetty Road Glenelg and the Patawalonga. I might do a few more of these as it's too cold to be in the workshop, plus I'm having surgery on my arm soon, so I will be a bit restricted for quite a while. Cheers Rob

    G'day Rob. Was it a Sunday, old cars, motorcycles and quiet traffic? Going over speed humps shows the camera is possibly on a gimble?? Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers Peter

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Peter. Yes it was Sunday. No gimble, but it would be good to be able to remotely pan to give a better view of stuff off to the sides at times. The camera has image stabilisation. The Subaru rides over the bumps and humps very well. Cheers Rob

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's getting quite expensive down along the coast. All the older houses on the foreshore are being bought and knocked down to replace them with those hideous multi million dollar square modern monstrosities that you see.
      We had friends who lived just to the left of where you see that little coffee caravan and lawn area. Their big old classic house went for huge money and was then replaced with a four or five story multi apartment complex. LOL The same thing is happening all along the Adelaide beach front. That's progress ? Cheers Rob

    Hi Rob,
    I'm a fellow South Ozzie and have just discovered your very informative and interesting channel.
    I own a Chinese lathe myself, its a D250X550 which I purchased from paramount browns in 2005.
    After not using it for 12 years (been in storage) I have decided to set it up again.
    So I'm wondering what method you used to level yours.
    Mine sits on two small steel cabinets but unfortunately there is no leveling bolts at the bottom of each of them.
    Would it be best to add shims between the chip tray and bed to level?
    Also, how do you have your lathe set up? Is it on cabinets or a steel frame
    Anyway, thanks again for all the great info in your vids.
    atb,
    Sean.

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sean, My two larger lathes are on stands : users.tpg.com.au/agnet/cq9325rev4.html
      Levelling with packing/shims is best, but levelling horizontally is not critical as long as there is no twist in the bed. Neither of mine are dead level horizontally and it's not an issue, unless you use a bubble float at any stage (which I don't). Glad you enjoy the videos. Cheers Rob

      @@Xynudu Hi Rob, could you please tell me where you purchased your 250 x 100 x 6 beam?...I'm in Adelaide.
      Thanks.

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought both beams from a salvage yard that is now no longer in business. There are still a few yards operational that may have something suitable (eg. try Royal Park Salvage, Deyoung's and Rural Salvage). Country ones are likely to be cheaper and have more heavy gauge stuff. Unfortunately most of the cheaper salvage yards have closed down and you don't see a lot of heavy steel surplus.
      It's also worth checking a few heavy steel fabrication businesses to see if they sell off cuts. You will probably have to pay new price though (by weight) and it will be expensive. Norms Metals may have something.
      The alternative is to stitch two smaller beams or RSJ together as some people have done, or even use a concrete sleeper as the spine. Quite a few options.
      Cheers Rob

    Hi Rob. Again, great to see some more of your part of the world. One thing's for certain even though you drive on the correct side of the road it could never be mistaken for anywhere in the UK, way too clean 🤣🤣 Cheers, Alan.

    • @Xynudu
      @Xynudu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Alan, yes South Australia is extremely clean. Better than the rest of Oz as we introduced mandatory refundable bottle and can recycling many decades ago. Most of the other states still don't have it or are just introducing it. I thought the UK would be fairly litter free looking at videos of it. The only blight on our environment is the mindless graffiti (vandalism) that persists.
      I will be fairly restricted in my video content soon as I require urgent surgery on my right arm for a bad skin melonoma that was recently diagnosed. Too much UV exposure over the years. Such is life, but it should be treatable from what the docs say. Turn 70 and all this stuff happens. LOL you go from being bullet proof to the walking wounded. Cheers Rob

      @@XynuduWhere I live it's not too bad but you still get a lot of beer bottles, cans, and since the pandemic, disposable masks. Sorry to hear about the arm surgery, it's been a bit of a year for you, what with your eyes and all. Hopefully after you have your arm sorted that will be it 🤞🤞🤞 Cheers, Alan.
