  • I was tired of having my desk occupied by the control box of my 3d Creality cr10 printer. I found a guide with the material to print on the Thingiverse website.     Appreciate the video. Nice tunes too.
    Just got a CR-10 last week. First 3D printer. Upgrading to 10S mainboard, then 2nd z-axis, filament detector and leveling sensor. Printing out an AIO kit.
    Since I'm stripping the controller box, I need to print out four little cinder blocks, box atop, snap a pic.

    Can you share the link to the screws you use, please? I want the screw heads flush with the printed surfaces for the aesthetics. Thank you!

    What material did you use? Would PLA+ be durable enough for these upgrades? Or even PLA?

      Hello and thank you for subscribing! I didn't use cable extensions but I used the original ones. On the stepper I inserted a fan because in my case it was very hot after hours of printing. The other steppers, on the other hand, do not heat up very much .. Keep following me!

    Could you detail how you put your filament spool holder on your z axis? I like that placement and want to do that for mine. Looks like you used the stock holder and just moved it off the control box, but how did you secure it?

      Hi, there. I simply removed the support that was installed on the box and through 2 nut m4 inserted in the structure I screwed it in that position.     Thanks for the video, it helps a lot. Just wonder if you have a list which parts used from the original RISCS 3D project, as there are quite a few options. I have an original CR-10, and would like to print out just the correct parts. Thanks.

      Hi, there. I'll put you the link to download everything you need for an original printer cr 10. These pieces are the ones I printed myself. The media for the feeder ne year printed 2 .     would it be possible with the length of the stock wiring to move the mainboard to the front for easy access? using octoprint, so probably don't need the sd card at all now and this is awesome!

    Does it affect the maximum printable height, mounting the spool holder in the fashion that you have?

      By mounting it like this, you lose about 6 inches in height... I never mould objects taller than 10/15cm...

    Interesting mod for sure... Only concern is the heat. Have you had any issues after this mod?

      I will have printed for 2000 hours after this mod and never a problem. The longest print I did was 19 hours and everything went well.

      the terminal block is hidden in the lower part and however it takes little to cover it like a piece of plastic glued...

      You're right. If I was talking about the old videos I was making, I would turn the music volume too high! If you look at my last videos, the music is much lower and in the last one it's really absent!

    Looking at doing this to my CR10s but needing a little help with translating. The inventables files that I got are in what look to be German and there are several different files for the mainboard and a couple other components. can you offer any help for the files that I need to print for a Stock CR10s?

    Why not mirror it and put power supply on right side and the cables should all reach?

      ​@@tritt1771 If you want to put the electronics on the left you have to mirror only the holder for the motherboard. The power supply can be placed further ahead, making room for the motherboard.

    I wish you showed how to do the wiring ind eliminate the use of the gx16 4 pin connector to make.
    I am wanting to do this but you seem to be the only one to do the standalone build.
    You don't show how you connected all the wiring. I'm not risking this without understanding the wiring put together unless you have it documented.

      Out of curiosity, I checked my printer. No fan blows air on the heated plate. I've been using it for months now and I haven't noticed any problem heating the plate.
