Dinosaur King's Wind Element consists of small and medium-sized Theropods. How do these models from the mid-late 2000s hold up against modern science?

I love this series not only does it tap into my childhood of Dinosaur King but it taps into my love for scientifically accurate dinosaurs, I immediately click when I get a notification you've uploaded another one of these, they're awesome man!
I love how with the ornithischian dinosaurs they were able to group them into an element based on what type of dinosaur they were, but with the theropods they just jumbled up a bunch of different unrelated theropods into completely random groups. It's like they gave up sorting them.
I'd be lying if I said that wasn't a big reason I did their elements first haha. ':D
Except for Spinosaurs, they are very aptly put in the water element.
The wind element are small to medium sized carnivores and the fire element are Tyrannosaurids and Large carnivores
I think they used more head-crested ornithischians (sometimes)
Of course the main star of the Wind elemental Dinosaurs is the meat bull itself, Carnotaurus. Seems fitting that Carnotaurus would be placed in the wind elemental, given it was likely one of the fastest theropod Dinosaurs which Dinosaur King does accurately represent.
I like how one of the TCG cards for Gojirasaurus mentions that it was named after the famous Japanese monster Godzilla, and the Japanese version of the anime had Shear name the animal "Nightmare", possibly in reference to Godzilla himself in some of his films being portrayed as an antagonist, which fits how the Gojirasaurus in the anime during the battle against it, since it was in all sense a literal nightmare to fight
Deltadromeus might be my favourite dinosaur from the anime. I never knew about the species beforehand and it has such a cool design. 🦖
Still doesn't change the fact dinosaurs can't swim the butterfly
@@primrosevale1995 Hah. That's true. 🦋
Same here.
think my only REAL issue with the Wind type is that a LOT of the attacks were sort of samey, like there was like 4 that were just "gotta go fast"
but the wind type is also why i'd LOVE a remake of this game series, see what the Dromaeosaurs would look with coats, maybe work on better wind moves than "running fast"
It’s a bit muddled that they split Theropods into four elements;
Fire - Large theropods like Tyrannosaurs, Carcharodontosaurs, as well as the largest members of other theropod clades.
Wind - Medium to small theropods like Ceratosaurs, Dromaeosaurs & Neotheropods as well as smaller members of other clades.
Water - Spinosaurs
Secret - Therizinosaurus, Megalosaurus, Cryolophosaurus & Deinonychus.
What happens to lightning an earth?
@@Acasualguy-hb9dk
Lightning is Ceratopsians, Earth is Thyreophorans.
@@SmashBrosAssemble aight thanks
I guess they're split by size rather than taxonomy.
Also, it's worth noting that the Secret dinosaurs were experimented on (which is why they all hate Dr. Z in the anime), so they might've been in the other elemental categories before.
@@Bagelgeuse
Well not all of them, you’ve got Cryolophosaurus & Brontosaurus.
To be fair, given the sheer diversity of actual theropods, it probably makes sense that they'd need to split them between different elements.
Giving carnotaurus pronated wrists is a sin so evil you'll scare Hitler.
surprised he didn't freak out harder about the abelisaurid arms
I kind of like the idea of speed and agility over raw strength when it comes to these dinosaurs. Also, by any chance would you be willing to review the accuracy of the prehistoric creatures in the “Dino Dan” franchise?
That would be cool
You know, given the role it played in the Zeta Point two parter, this is probably the nicest I’ve seen paleomedia be to Ceratosaurus
I guess they never shared an episode with allosaurus, so that might be why
@@evodolka Eh, technically they did in the season 1 finale, but that was reused animation on Ally’s end so I’d still say you’re right
The Rugops holotype (the only definitive specimen of it) was initially estimated at 6-7 meters before getting downsized to 4.5-5 meters, and it might not be fully grown, as some of the skull bones show a lack of fusion, so this is likely why various media portrayals showed it at 8-9 meters. The skull also shows some grooves that suggest that it might have sported wrinkly soft-tissue structures in life (hence its generic name).
Loving the series so far! And I can't wait for Torvosaurus to be classified as Edmarka and megalosaurus to technically be Torvosaurus in the fire and secret videos, and hopefully we'll get to see a video solely based on dinosaurs exclusive to the games
Nice vid. Like you, I have an appreciation for Ceratosaurus due to having had a toy of it when I was a child and then seeing it one of the dinosaur books I had back then (the only one I can't find now).
One thing to note is that Piatnitzkysaurus is portrayed as both a wind dinosaur, and a normal move card dinosaur, and that, at least in the move card version, it's portrayed as venomous in the anime
It's this very move card that made me wish it was a secret type, using a bunch of poison moves
Hey, carnotaurus is my favorite. That's probably why I have more attachments for the show
Allosaurus gang stays winning 🔥
holy shit I miss playing this game on the DS this and Fossil Fighters were my favorite growing up.
It's crazy seeing people even acknowledge the DS game
hey there! this video is my 5000th liked video on youtube...hope to see more dino vids from you
By the way, once you do the other elements by any chance, are you gonna cover the support creatures that don't have elements would be nice though.
Every time you say "VEN-O-tor"
Or "ABE-ilo-saurid"
I die inside a little
This is sooo nostalgic. I'm 21 btw😭
Please do a video about the different allies cards that summon pterosaurs, sauropods, aquatic reptiles, etc. Also, which element is next? Water, Fire, or Secret?
Ah the wind dinosaurs... Allosaurs has always been my favourite of this group and favourite dinosaur in the series, glad to see it holds up as well as it does, Deltadromeous been a close second cause I liked its look, and yes I did try to swim as it does in the anime as a kid XD, beive its the "butterfly stroke" if I recall.
These dinosaurs also kinda feel the most like relics from a difrent time, in this case the late 19s to early 20s of how theropods were usally portraied, the good ol shrinkwraped faces, athletic long loeged builds and more "savage" nature. And it would also seem that any asset re use here did scew up their ability to stand the test of time moreso than previous groups.
Granted its quite common for ones like the ceratopsians or lambiosaurians to have a large number of postcranial remains that rarely get described becasuse the head is the most intresting bit visually, and less bones to deal with, so oftentimes those remains are waiting in storage to be described. One day....
Utahraptor definetly has aged the worso tho haha, poor thing looks like it should be a much smaller dromaeosaurid given how gracile it is, it is quite odd that it didnt get a fully body down of feathers, or that non of the raptors seem to have even a hint of wings, wich is intresting given Japans record of a love for feathered dinosaurs.
Hey uh, do you think you could include links in your description (for your DK related videos specifically) to the 2 people (The Cobra Effect & Casualprince8) that ya always shout-out at the end of these kinds of videos. Because I would like to check out The Cobra Effect's videos like I did with Casualprince8 after your video on the Grass element dinos, but I haven't been able to find their channel by just searching up their user-name. Please & thank you 😊👍
This series was a part of my childhood :D
Wind Dinosaur also there my boi ace Carnotaurus and their Theropod ones
6:55 Ceratosaurus and Torvosaurus very probably lived in South America due to fossil teeth from both genera found in Uruguay from the Late Jurassic as well
This is interesting to see but I’d love to see how accuracies for fire, water and secret dinosaurs turn out
Pretty sure Abelisaur skin impressions show that the osteoderms were randomly scattered across the back and not in patterns
Fun fact: gojirasaurus laerapus has a nickname which is shuvosaurus
You know what's funny about the wind type they're all about being fast and got to go faster and all but there's one move named sonic boom in fact it's the only move that has Sonic in its name and has absolutely nothing to do with running. Oh come on SEGA a Sonic the Hedgehog reference was right there and they did absolutely nothing with it except maybe making most of the wind element dinosaurs blue
Have you considered a series comparing the JWE2 models to their realistic counterparts?
Probably not accurate as far as we know no dinosaur used wind to attack prey
What's next 💧, 🔥, secret, the sauropods, or the pterosaurs
6:49 same 😮
Woah woah, its meat eating bull for Carnotaurus
Or water element
What about the smaller theropods like troodon
Hope you'll have a good day
You forgot to include Gallimimus
There was a Gallimimus?
@@evodolka According to the wiki alongside Troodon and Velociraptor
@@user-gm7hk3kh2h i know Velociraptor is a thing, they were a move card if i recall
@@evodolka I’m talking about for the trading cards not the anime
@@user-gm7hk3kh2h oh i was talking about the arcade/DS game
Do fire element
I thought Piatnitzkysaurus was a move card dinosaur.
Yeah, it's both an assist dino and a wind dino.
On another note, Pawpawsaurus is also in this category, though this case is because they are represented by different individuals. Tag Team is represented by a baby, who appeared in the anime. An adult represents a Secret dino. Funny enough, the baby participates in two of the Super Moves. A third individual, the partner of the main Dino, participates in all three Super Moves.
Troodon (or more accurately Stenonychosaurus) is also represented as a move and dino card, although the latter is TCG exclusive.
Individualized variation is a thing. Brian Engh's study on _Dilophosaurus_ doesn't represent the entire genus only the individual which doesn't then give anyone the right to accuse the former specimens as inaccurate. So much that all of you seem to forget where the popularity of T.Rex design in media stands interchangeably.
It's a bit... up in the air
I want to see the fire 🔥 types please ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved the video, but the “fukui” is not pronounced Foo-kwee, it’s Foo-koo-ee
Hi
After doing dinosaur king series, can you do how accurate on fossil fighters series, please?
asking how accurate an anime is is like asking if water is wet
no not Dinosaur Kind please noooo!!!! 😭😭😭
Ngl I think they copied the JP3 raptors when they modeled Utharaptor
Aatrox? Lol?
I think you missed some species, such as Troodon and Gallimimus.
Troodon is invalid. Has been since 2017.
Those will probably be covered alongside the Secret Type dinosaurs.
Those are move card dinosaurs. He will likely cover them in a video dedicated to those.
@@gladiolus5377the thing is, troodon and gallimimus are wind dinosaurs in the TCG.
@@juansuarez0126 I'm aware, but to be fair the TCG seems to follow a different canon than the arcade, games and anime.
"Able-lo-saur-ids"
I hate it, I viscously hate it
Quit crying over pronunciations and grow up
@@giorgospapoutsakis5271 it's not me who said it, it was *him*
