Wow, very inspiring. Love your loose touch and the way you take it step by step so I can follow you throughout the proces.

Thank you for this. Our backgrounds are different, but the big picture is the same, no pun intended. I am 45yo and just got diagnosed this year. When I was young, in my teens, drawing gave me a feeling I couldn't describe, but I remember that it was the perfect way to focus and calm my mind. When drawing, I felt the confidence I could never replicate in my regular life. Because of my culture, I never even imagined that my issues were due to ADHD. Life happened to me, and it did not go well. I stopped drawing for many, many years. Fast forward to now and understanding my symptoms along with medication, and one day I sat down to draw, just out of boredom or some other feeling. Suddenly it comes rushing back....that feeling of calm. Exactly as you said "the noise in my head just stopped". I sent this video to my wife because she sometimes feels that I draw instead of spending time with her or just do it too much. I could never explain why I need it and hopefully your video will help. Of course my skill level is low and about 25 years out of practice. I don't know if I can ever be good enough to pursue art as anything more than a hobby, although I have been practicing and trying to get better and make up for my lack of natural talent. Hearing the things you said give me a bit of hope as well. Maybe with hard work, I can get good enough to sell my art. In any case, I am glad I found this. Good luck in everything!

@@MaximMelamed Thank you so much for this message! I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to feel understood completely. I so encourage you to pursue drawing and enjoy the calm it brings. And for SURE it’s never too late to catch up. I bet you are better than you think. We often have confidence issues with ADHD for all sorts of reasons but this might not apply to your talent. Try to see your work through
other peoples eyes. You may be impressed with your skills. For me it’s keeping it simple that seems to be the way forward on the obstacle course of ADHD life!

@sarahwienbergdrawing I really hear this all the time, but unlike your family (which seems wonderful), I was never allowed to express myself or show emotion. This really hurt my confidence. I am working on it though. It helps to know I am not alone. Thanks again! 💜

@@MaximMelamed not being allowed to express emotion as a child is SUCH a difficult job to right. I can recommend looking at Gabor Maté. He is my favourite go to for healing advice (he also has been diagnosed with ADHD)

@@sarahwienbergdrawing no I haven't heard of him. This is all pretty new to me but I'll definitely Check it out. And I agree completely about letting kids express themselves. Now that I have children of my own I'm trying hard not to repeat the mistakes of my parents.
