At 10:32 The anime "A Certain Magical Index" actually has that as a plot point. The MC loses all his memories but manages to BS his way by pretending to remember everyone he interacted with previously by just reading the situation.
And it subverts the "dense guy who has a harem" trope in a small but crucial way. By having him be aware that people care for him, perhaps even love him, but because of his amnesia and his desire to help others, he feels awkward advancing his relationship with anyone, because the person they loved might not actually be him, but the man he was. Every stranger a possible friend, lover or threat attempting to hurt people he cannot remember but he still wishes to protect.
