You are not a lazy gardener , far from it , you and Jason work very hard lots of up and down and hauling very physical in all kinds of weather, that's why you have such a beautiful home and garden.
You are totally right. Janey and Jason have worked their tail ends off this passed year, I'm amazed and in awww. Both of them don't have one lazy bone in their whole body. ❤
I use GrowOya in my garden for years. One thing is the diameter of the Oya will determine the diameter it will water. Yours will only water to about a foot diameter, so 6 inches on each side. The larger ones can water out up to a diameter of 4 feet so 2 feet on each side. Make sure you water the soil well after installing the Oya or it will drain right out because the soil is dry.
Hi Janey, Good to know about the Ollas' which in Spanish it means bowl. Your Garden is so pretty! Thank you for sharing this with us. Have a great rest of the day! 😊👋
What a beautiful way to enjoy your garden in winter, nice and warm in the greenhouse! I am so glad you are enjoying your watering can! It’s adorable in the greenhouse!
I love using Oyas. I would suggest that you water the tomatoes until their roots grow long enough to reach the Oyas. It may take them some time initially.
Hi Janey🌺 .These ollas look wonderful for watering . I have used to my containers plastic bottles drip and they do well in summer time for a week . Happy new year to you and your family and Enjoy your time .♥️🎄🌟🎄🌟♥️
I used them last summer for the first time when we went away for a week. Used the Olla “plugs” with a water bottle tipped upside down inside. Also tried a wine bottle and it worked also, giving a longer period of water.
Wow game changer for me. I’ve never heard of these and I need them in my life. Thank you for sharing. I’m going to get a couple so my life can be easier. I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you and happy new year 😊
Hi Janey! Happy New Year to you and your family. I've been using ollas for three seasons. I grow in raised metal beds like your veggos and 5 gal black nursery pots. I'm about an hour south of you and like you, the summers are super hot. My ollas are very helpful with my peppers, tomatoes and summer squashes. I also use shade cloth to keep my plants from scalding. This combo has really helped me keep my plants moist. Thanks for the link. I plan to buy more for this spring/summer season!
Happy last day of 2024! 🎉 So many amazing videos, delightful garden tours, great gardening advice, awesome merch, terrific coffee chats and Q & A’s, fun visits with Robbie, Michael & Kate, exciting announcement of DPWR’s new employee Jason, installations of a beautiful greenhouse & hot tub, outstanding Proven Winners pop up event, planting the prettiest plants & trees and Monty hamming it up for the camera! Thank you Janey for sharing your action packed journey this year. I couldn’t be more eager to watch what you have planned for 2025!! 🎉🇨🇦
Our community garden did something similar using 2 gallon milk jugs with holes pierced near the bottom of the jug. These were used outside in raised beds and worked great.
I used an olla in my strawberry planter this year and it worked so well! I planted a second container without an olla (just hand watered) for comparison, and those plants were tiny and hardly had any flowers or berries while the ones with the olla bloomed for weeks and weeks and produced lots of juicy fruit. Definitely want to get more of them!
Happy New Year to you and your family. This sounds like a great idea. I'm going to order some. I have limited mobility so it might be great for me to use
That’s so interesting Janey! I’ve never heard of this watering method. Question, would you consider a water retention system like you had in your last property? Zone3 Manitoba 🇨🇦❄️🥳
Happy New Year Janey & Jason🎉 interesting experiment. I feel like the tomato plants needed to be watered in with a liquid fertilizer as well. Then the jugs for maintenance watering. But totally guessing there. I do not have a proper greenhouse. Just a shelving type unit with a plastic cover. Wind is an issue with it for sure.
I tried very small ollas when I overwintered a tropical hibiscus. They looked similar to an okra pod. I don’t think they were big enough. My hibiscus was always dry. You might want to check the moisture level occasionally.
Janey! Thank you for explaining all that! I have not used before but it sounds like they are great! I got a new greenhouse but not sure what temp tomatoes can go down to? 9A zone my roof opens at 60 degrees! Amazing teaching from you once again! ❤
The purple leaves are indicative of a need for nutrients, recommend a liquid fertilizer be used for immediate uptake by the tomato plants. The sun gold plants will need a more substantial trellis (hortinova netting works great) as it grows or you will need to ensure you keep up with pruning which will decrease yield.
I used Ollas last year in my raised beds around my tomatoes. What I found was that they had to be filled daily and with all the heat I couldn't keep the ground moist. I found them to be a failure. Good luck.
What zone are you in? I'm thinking about doing this in 9b/10 Florida. I have large pots planted with mostly Western direct sun all afternoon. Gets up to 103* some day. May go with a drip kit. Have not decided yet on my pots for veggies.
What is the plants name that is tall with long skinny leaves and purple/maroon under the leaves. I had one and I killed it because I did not know the name or how to take care of it. Love your videos.
You are not a lazy gardener , far from it , you and Jason work very hard lots of up and down and hauling very physical in all kinds of weather, that's why you have such a beautiful home and garden.
Janey, you are not lazy, you are just becoming wiser with experience!
Lazy isn’t a pejorative.. being called a lazy gardener is a compliment.. it means she works smarter not harder
haha thanks Barbara!!
You are totally right. Janey and Jason have worked their tail ends off this passed year, I'm amazed and in awww. Both of them don't have one lazy bone in their whole body. ❤
Janie I enjoy watching your channel because you are well informed and teach. Thanks! 🌼🐝

Glad to see you have found a purpose for that beautiful green house.
What a beautiful way to enjoy your garden in winter, nice and warm in the greenhouse! I am so glad you are enjoying your watering can! It’s adorable in the greenhouse!
Thanks Betty! I love BOTH cans!!
Look at that trowel!! 😂 That’s a neat concept with the terracotta ollas. Never heard of them before but makes sense
This could be a good solution for the canvas grow bags which dry out so quickly. I wish I had room for a beautiful greenhouse like yours!
I’ll have to try using Ollas. I think they’ll work nicely in my Vego beds. Thanks for the info. ❤M
Love all the new things you try and bring us along.
Thanks Michelle!

What fun and different! I’ve not done this method. This’ll be fun to watch ! Happy New Year CaliKim
Hey Kim! I'm interested to see how it goes. If it works, it might be great for your garden! 💗

I will utilize the ollas as I garden in two locations and it's difficult to maintain the moisture when I'm away. Thanks for the video.
❤❤❤❤happy new year ❤❤❤
I do have a couple ollas....I just havent used them yet. This spring...
Wish you a really happy New Year from me and my granddaughter Vera 8 months
Hey sweetie, I am new to your channel and I am enjoying it so much. Could you please tell me the name of the heater you have? Thank you 😊

Yes, I too. Would love to know what zone you’re in. I Garden in California zone 9B and I am thinking of getting some for my garden. 💙💚💛🧡💜 Liz
Olla is Spanish for pot
What kind of thermometer do you have? My one thermometer uses my phone but I’d like one for my greenhouse
