this is great especially for people who enjoy/need structure when theyre trying to improve i think if you combine this with Press Button Win's "Think Don'T Mash!" and Ceelow's "Rookie to Diamond" videos you'd have a pretty newbie-friendly series to help people better understand FGs
Holy shit, why have I not been doing this? Thank you so much! My Lucia has been hella rusty, and I feel like this is exactly what I need to get better!
Your videos and genuine gameplay brought my Balrog just below diamond, with just half a year of experience. Keep up the good work and play what you find is most fun to you as a creator. Ggs
Yo Brian. Thanks for getting me back into this game in the right mindset. Picked up my old main Birdie and am now just dusting him off with exactly this tactic. If ever I get cooked by a character’s tool in a match I immediately open up Training mode and figure out what I can do to negotiate that option. Example, like, yesterday I learned Karin had a command grab after Ressenha which is an option select if the initial hit is blocked. I felt almost powerless against such a dinky tool. Training mode showed that my options are to trade with Ressenha, punish after initial block with jab, crouch under the grab (which leaves them in the corner if I’m even one step out of the corner) , OR to cr.MP the grab. So while it feels like I really only have one button to use against that move, knowing the theory behind the tool helps me respond to it and disincentivize it against me in future. Another one is Alex medium headbutt, which is fast enough to beat all my normal anti air options. At game start, you can dash in to make it whiff, but if you dash back it hits, so basically, if you actually react to it, jump HP combo. It’s these kinds of scenarios I never would have checked out after the fact in Training before I found your channel. Thanks for being cool.
I am a Gold league scrub and i don't practice like this at all but how good are you as a teacher? Seriously? It is always a pleasure to watch your videos. so methodical and the clarity in your explanations is impressive!
Prolly my first comment on your channel but I gotta say thank you for sharing good advice like this. Stuff like specific training situations aren’t talked about much. I used to be able to go to this place local to me “8 on the break” for offline advice and practice but Covid kinda botched that. And out of the other sf content creators, your stuff is structured very efficiently and concise. Thanks BRian F and I wish you all the props to your page and brand my guy.
great! i love this kind of video, i have a hard time piecing together how to make this kind of drills in practice mode, i hope future games invent a feature that lets you share this kind of scenario, that would help people waaaay more than combo routes
Makes me realize how much I should be doing drills in Tekken, and thats probably contributing to my bad habits, panicking, and choosing bad punishes and options and stuff.
man you are one of the very few FGC personalities that could actually reach out to casuals and can actually explain WHY advanced tech (for any game) is worth pursuing
I have been spectating without playing SFV for years now and only just learned what Rog's V-Skill 2 actually does. I just assumed a buff of some kind lol
Took a while to get there but SF5 has set a pretty high bar when it comes to training mode options. Setting up random jump in/dash in/fireball has helped me a ton to react in neutral.
I would recommend not doing only drills for hours until the moment you got it down to a T. Mix it up between warm-ups, regular training, matches, regular training and/or different training (mu specific stuff), rinse and repeat. At least that's how I do it. It gives me more variety and I feel I can incorporate trained / learned things into my general play at a faster rate. Mind you I am one of those guys that can test out things for 10 hours straight in a game so maybe you wanna make your time blocks for each part be at different lengths of time. Hope that helps and always have fun.
3:57 cr.mp medium upper should work,no charge needed 4:47 yeah no makes sense 5:15 hm 5:28 yep that’s the basic 5:46 yea yea into another dash straight on hit while also no need for charge 6:36 true checked yesterday 6:44 cr mp to medium upper and it doesn’t need charge 6:49 yep 6:54 saaactly 7:00 that too ig 7:35 easy to say in a vacuum yes. When you know it’s gonna happen which is not very usually the case 8:16 yes 8:48 lmfao that’s funny. Damn 9:10 yeah he’s not on that much recovery 9:29 yeea yea 10:00 nice 10:12 practice muscle memory indeed just like the dp anti air 10:59 neato 11:26 uh huh. Well you can dash again if they backrise 11:44 ofc 12:02 that seems harder ngl 12:39 interesting maybe not. Yeah it’s actually not that hard to see in a vacuum ofc 12:57 nice 13:33 right. Hmm 14:05 nice. Gg good time checking on these
Thank you for another one of these vids. You’re probably the person i morally agree the most with(…roughly of course lol),so thank you for helping once again 👍.
I play Cody, I just push buttons until either they go down or I go down with spicy zonks thrown in there. Lets not pretend that my cerebral cortex is capable of this witchcraft.
Could you please tell me how to set standing/crouching + random counter? I want to train Lstraight counter-Lp-Lstraight/Lscrew confirm combo but don't know how to set the situation. Please help me!
I am a beginner so I probably know the answer to this (just play lol) but how do I get faster reactions? I understand what's going on in this video but I don't think I could react fast enough to these stuff if I tried. And when practicing stuff like this I always feel like I'm guessing, not reacting. I wonder if my monitor has too much latency 🤔
Instead of giving us fish, Brian_F is teaching us how to build and operate a fish farm so we can have fish for us and all our friends.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for the day, don't give a man a fish and you can feed yourself
He's a grown adult, fishing's not that hard
thx for ur guides brian u are the best. becauze of ur videos i finally got gold with balrog and im very happy, I wish u a very happy day

Thank you very much. I started using training mode much more, and quickly climbed from Super Silver to Gold really fast

The training mode in SFV seems really, really good if you use it properly.
Honestly, it's the best I've seen out of any fighting game. But it requires you to actually know how to use the tools at your disposal.
Wow! Great video! Definitely going to lab this
Thanks for your video! Since I found your channel. I've learned alot from you! I hope to level up and play at a competitive level!
This is incredibly helpful, thanks
Came here for that handsome face on the thumbnail 😆

Can also add in if the opponent no rises to use frame kills for meaty throws and buttons.
Bro. Practicing this drill took me from super silver to gold in 3 days.
