my interpretation of the song is to live life without ego. I say this because being small minded goes hand in hand with ego, and the bigger the ego, the more small minded one is. "when you lose small mind, you free your life" - I take this as once you diminish or kill your ego, you will see things with more clarity, and in ways you did not see them before. "when you free your eyes, eternal prize" - this part also related to ego, once the ego is gone, you will become a better person, and in turn your vibrational energy (soul) will ascend. I'd say eternal prize refers to going to higher dimensions, which can be done after you pass on from this life, but only if you have ascended. people commonly refer to this as 'heaven'. Again, these are my interpretations, I could be wrong in the true meaning of the song, and if I am, I really do not need to be corrected as it will not change my interpretations. aside from all that, this is my favorite song by SOAD. every time I hear this, I just close my eyes and get lost in the song.
“One in the river and one again after the fall” I feel it means we (souls) have always existed as one, then we decide we want to experience life in a human body, which inevitably leads to death, then after death we become the one again
The guitar Darion was using is an Ibanez Iceman. He always uses an Iceman as far as I know. If i remember correctly he even partnered with Ibanez to release his own signature Iceman too.
This was for the non-rock listeners…They built the masterpiece one instrument at a time. Then hit us with true rock, all instruments all at once. Then deconstructed it in the end. Beautiful music.
What I love about music it does not see color, music is Universal and it invites Love & Unity. Because we can have our favorite genre’s but it’s ok to listen to other genre music 🎵
