Bought mine a week ago from your company. I have used the seat concepts xl for about 250miles so far and I do agree it’s a total game changer for long days of riding. And thanks for getting it to me here in Arizona quickly, keep up the good work and great customer service.
Hey Justin, love the videos that you, Chase, and the RM boys constantly put out - thank you for the good work on all of them. I just purchased a 2020 KTM 500 EXC and have about 20 hours on it. You are right in that the seats are not comfortable when sitting on, so that's not good for a dual sport. I've heard from many people that the Seat Concepts Comfort XL seat is the way to go, so I'm giving in and buying one today from RM. Funny thing: you took a 500 XCF and effectively turned it into a EXC. I'm taking my 500 EXC and I'm turning it into a XCF (I'm in CA, so the only way to have a street-legal bike is for it to start that way).
Thanks Dan! yeah, I should have just got the EXC. Oh well - both are fantastic bikes. Yeah, get the seat! It is a must if you spend much time on the seat. They did a great job shaping this seat - I was very happy with it. - Justin
Great review. I have had a few Seat Concepts seats on my Beta's, I have a STD Comfort seat for my 17 Xtrainer which was a big improvement over the stock seat and just ordered an XL Comfort for my Beta 390 RR race edition that is set up for Dual sport. Seat Concepts has awesome product IMO. Can't wait to receive it, and also can't wait to be able to ride after our worlds current situation. Stay Healthy My Friend
I did a 2100 mile ride on my 500exc with the stock seat. Miserable! I bought a SC Tall comfort kit and had it shaped to my spec using the stock pan. Much better, but still not optimal. Off road it’s awesome!
That was somewhere west of Wickenburg. Check out our blog for GPS downloads and more info. - Justin www.rockymountainatvmc.com/rm-rider-exchange/hooked-on-phoenix-adventure-motorcycle-ride/
Just got back from 3 1/2 hours on my Ktm 690 enduro r and my ass is on 🔥 lol. I have heard about the seat concepts seat but didn’t really know what the difference between the stock seat and the seat concepts was really. Everyone says that they are more comfortable but never explains what it is that makes it so? Is it the foam density or is it thicker? In most reviews they just talk about the cover difference. I like that you have the wider xl seat that you reviewed and the way you explained how it is the same width up front so standing is not affected. I also believe that the seat being wider in the rear on the xl would offer more support when sitting back on the seat like you talked about. This is the best review that I’ve watched so far on the seat concepts seat and the first I’ve found on the xl model. Thanks for taking the time to make it 👍
I have a 350 exc-f And looking for any luggage options so I can take a lunch to work ect. Currently there is no hard luggage options that I know of but I see your luggage system seems pretty decent as it worked out well and if so would it be easy and convenient to do something like I mentioned to and from work for lunches etc.?
I just picked up a 2024 KTM 500 EXC-F and I am debating on the tall or the XL. I have a 2004 450 EXC and I have a enduro engineering tall seat on it and I like the tall seat but the XL is wider than the tall on the Seat Concept. What would you do?
2022 KTM 500 EXC-F. What's the height difference between the XL and the XL Large? I'd like as much cush as possible and still be able to touch my feet. I'm 5'10." I want to buy one right now...Yes, through RMATV!! 😁
The Comfort XL model is the same height as stock but 9 1/2" wide at the widest point, while the Comfort XL Tall seat is 8 3/8" wide and 7/8" or 22mm taller than the stock seat. If you enter your bike model on the product page, as you select the different seat options available, the product description will change to let you know the measurements. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/seat-concepts-complete-seat-p
@@rmatvmc Thanks for the quick response. Any idea when these might be available to buy through you? You are out of stock on both seats right now for my bike.
The Xl is wider than the regular which is supposed to help give more comfort with a wider platform to sit on. If you're not worried about seat width and want the most comfort, then you want the Xl model.
Seat Concepts make this seat in a few different sizes and they do offer a low version for your bike. You can check them out here: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/parts/seat-concepts-complete-seat-p
This review would be way more useful if you pulled the luggage off the bike and actually showed us what the seat looks like, and explained how the added width affects your reach to the ground.

That's great to hear! Thanks for the support and letting us know what you think of the seat!
Thanks for this review! I definitely need one for my 350 EXC-F. I really like the fact that you test and ride what you sell. Excellent review.

How are you securing the luggage on the rear fender of the 500?
Great review.

Thanks a lot! I agree. Seat concepts does a fantastic job. I don't think they can be beat. - Justin
Planning on buying a new excf when my dealer opens back up, i will have this seat waiting for when i bring it home. Thanks for the video
Great bike! Yeah, this dang Covid-19 is really putting a damper on things. I hope we can get back to normal soon! - Jusitn
I just received my XL seat today for my 2020 701. It is soooo much better than the stock seat!
for sure! We have SC seats on the 2 690s and the 701 we have here at the shop as well. Much better than stock! - Justin
How long did it take to get delivered?
@@moneyorg3157 3-4 weeks if I remember correctly.
Looks like the Arizona Peace trail . Was looking for a seat for my KLR 650 2009
We have put the Seat concepts seats on our KLRs and they work fantastic for them as well. - Justin
I am a shorter rider and was wondering is the added width a factor when your standing up on the bike ? Or only when you sit back ?
I did a 2100 mile ride on my 500exc with the stock seat. Miserable! I bought a SC Tall comfort kit and had it shaped to my spec using the stock pan. Much better, but still not optimal. Off road it’s awesome!
What would you consider optimal?
Wider still at the back of the seat. On trips over 100 miles, I add a sheepskin pad.
That is why I think the XL is the way to go. The extra width helps a lot. - Justin
What size tank do U have 3or 4 gal
4 (3.9 technically) gallon Acerbis tank. Great fit and feel. I really like the tank! - Justin
How do you keep fuel in the bike with such a small tank and no civilization anywhere?
Why did you convert that bike to rather than just buy an EXC 500?
Great question! It came down to availability. both are great bikes. If you plan on using it as a dual sport, go with the EXC. - Justin

What happened to standing?
You can't stand ALL DAY LONG lol - Wes

If you are doing long rides where you have more sitting, then I'd say the wider. If you aren't sitting a ton then I'd go with the tall.
Just purchased mine and wow I think seat is going to be awesome and worth it

I have a 2002 ktm 400 exc with a sdg seat. I want do make it into a light adventure bike. Will it fit my bike?
David Ivers not even close. This is for a newer bike. Your best bet is full custom. Try a car interior shop.
Unfortunately it doesn't look like they have anything for that bike. Give them a call - maybe they have some ideas. - Justin

How does the sub frame hold up with the luggage on the KTM's?
So far so good! I have done several small rides with lighter weight, but 3 multi-day rides with all my gear. No issues so far. - Justin
