The way that I saw it was that it was like dumping a cup of water into the ocean. Once that water touches the ocean, it's irretrievable because they're made of the same substance so there was no real way to part from the great darkness or overtake it once Darkseid was in there.
I dunno how to feel about the retcon trying to tie down the "Morrison Lore" with the rest of DC comics. A bit of the allegory of Darkseid as the archetype of evil and the Empty Hand representing degradation in comic books is kind of lost when you just bash them together as servants of one large ultimate big bad Always love when they are addressed, as the Oblivion Machine, the perfected Darkseid and Mandark are some of the coolest concepts in DC's history, but I feel a bit of their charm was lost when they just fisticuffed each other

I think the reason Perpetua and the Batman Who Laughs were not a huge impact here is because Perpetua was actually an agent of the Presence originally. She and the other Hands were what started the Multiverses. The Dark Multiverse actually had little to do with the Great Darkness despite the names. It was just a multiverse made up of unstable worlds that the World Forger messed up upon creation that should have been devoured by Barbatos, but instead he put them all together into the Dark Multiverse. Best explanation I can see is that when Perpetua was manipulating the previous Crises to weaken the Source Wall and release her, she was in turn being manipulated by the Great Darkness.
The problem with ignoring Perpetua and the Crisis she was involved in allows DC to recon this story ..... cause it leaves out major parts ... till someone wants to bring them back ...

The problem I have with comics these days and specifically this series is the abuse of power. When a character you say is "OP" then that creates the need to make the next foe more 'OP' and there comes a point where the stories get silly. I plan to do a video and will go more into this soon.

I think Perpetua was also being affected by the Great Darkness after the first Crisis which, to be fair given her backstory, wouldn't be all that farfetched. It's just that she's dead now, so she's probably not going to have a big part in things. Darkseid is a platonic concept. The Empty hand is the open right hand of the GD while true form Darkseid is the closed left fist.
The Closed Hand meant to punch the Dough that is the DC Multiverse and weaken it.

Honestly while its not said directly i think perpetua was the first victim of the great darkness. She was probably directly corrupted by the great darkness and used her voice to whisper to the villains her grand designs unknown to her that those designs were really the great darkness’s

personally i would have likely it better if in doing this, they also were able to do it in a way to where peretua and her stuff was still there in some capacity cuz i found her concept interesting and feel is a shame for it to has such a relatively short life in things

One of the biggest twists in here is seeing Darkseid succumb to The Great Darkness which is Evil itself believing he is Evil itself. He got played like a fiddle and it is rare to see that
