Thomas, this is an excellent video that not many musicians (saxophonists included) discuss. In the early stages as a beginner adult saxophonist, I was acutely aware of a fair amount of tension I had in my body and worked very hard at losing it. Tension caused me to make a lot of different types of mistakes. I'm far more comfortable when I play nowadays and significantly less tense. I enjoy practice more and my playing is far more organic.
I've read "Developing a personal saxophone sound" by Dave Liebman (a favourite) and watched many performances of my favourite musicians to study their presentation and composure. It also helped.
I also practice difficult phrases (written and aurally) slowly. The more mistakes I make , the slower I practice ... including as I learn to integrate newly learnt vocabulary into my playing.
If I'm making far too many mistakes, I take a break.
    Great video! I appreciate it!

Hi Alex, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! It’s great that you discovered that you enjoy playing more the more relaxed you are. It’s one of the top secrets to play better :)
Also your strategy of practicing slower the more mistakes you make sounds great!
