How The Cast Of Chronicles Of Narnia Should Really Look

  • For the most part, fans of C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia thought the film adaptations were well-cast. However, there are always people who want film adaptations to be 100% accurate, right down to the characters’ appearances, so it’s time to compare.
    Some of the characters fit Lewis’ descriptions almost perfectly, while changes were made in a few cases in regards to hair color and age. From the character who was seriously aged up in the second film to the CGI character who looked exactly as he was described in the books, let’s take a look at how the Chronicles of Narnia cast should really look.
    #Cast #Movie #Narnia
    The White Witch | 0:00
    Lucy Pevensie | 1:02
    Edmund Pevensie | 1:39
    Peter Pevensie | 2:14
    Susan Pevensie | 2:39
    Mr. Tumnus | 3:04
    Prince Caspian | 4:19
    Trumpkin | 4:51
    Eustace Scrubb | 5:20
    Aslan | 6:05

      The White witch. She is supposed to be 7' tall. That was specifically mentioned in more than one of the book. I think they should have made her much taller in the movie.

    According to a review on this movie, Narnia is the author's fairytale version of the gospel, in which the White Witch and her minions are the pharisees, Aslan the lion is Jesus (who underwent a mock trial, got killed and resurrected), and the four kids are his disciples including Susan (who wept at Aslan's dead body then first witnessed his resurrection, which is very similar to Mary Magdalene at the cruxifiction). This really enlightened me. And it must be true, given to the fact that C S Lewis is a theologian.

    • @roseharper3542
      @roseharper3542 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The pharisees were largely to blame though. The romans had no beef with Jesus before they dumped him on their door demanding his execution, and the people wouldn't have turned on him if it wasn't for them either. The Roman government was just their hitman. Just because it wasn't their hands that killed him, doesn't mean it wasn't mainly their fault.
      Stupid people will always find justification for their stupidity. This does not mean we change facts to avoid this.

      Jonathan Chamberlain, just read the final book in the series. The final act has a striking resemblance to Revelation book of the Bible.

    • @dragonviolin2294
      @dragonviolin2294 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wrong, C.S Lewis never meant to be it a depiction of the gospel, he simply wrote the books for his niece Lucy, I believe. I do agreed, however it is similar to the gospel but that may have been a subconscious decision done by the fact that he is a Christian author.

    • @jonathanbaker247
      @jonathanbaker247 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      +Dragon Violin Actually many movies have adopted a gospel theme if you read deep into the story line. You'll notice a formulaic routine - In an ordinary world full of darkness and evil, you got this hero who sees the truth and wants to make a difference, then he preaches his ambition and builds up a team of faithful followers, sometimes he even has a master giving him instructions or a lover supporting him at times of need; then his big plan proceeds to a turning point when he faces some huge setbacks, being put on trial by the villains, which cast some shadow of doubt on him; and at this very moment he gets encouragement from his followers, lover and/or that master, then it reaches the climax of the whole movie as he sacrifices himself in this heroic act that saves the world; during that act, you can see that he almost gets killed, but saved by his followers/lover; or he's really killed, but somehow brought back to life by his followers/lover. Afterwards he dies or fades into ordinary life or prepares to face the next challenge, while his followers and/or lover are left telling his story. I hope what I said makes sense to you. It's very common in superhero and biography movies.

    • @dragonviolin2294
      @dragonviolin2294 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jonathan Chamberlain That is true, but the true books were never meant to be gospel even if the movies were shown that way.

  • @Momo-qo4wm
    @Momo-qo4wm 7 ปีที่แล้ว +79

    I'm glad they made the characters older. Peter's supposed to be twelve or thirteen, but I can't imagine a thirteen year old leading an army into battle. It's hard enough believing seventeen year olds lead rebellions in literature now.
    And to be honest, I thought Lucy was supposed to be six or seven when I saw the first movie when I was the same age... probably because we looked quite similar. Admittedly I wasn't too far off, but it's probably better that they made the children's ages different.

    • @Jhowy-wu3mr
      @Jhowy-wu3mr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I agree Peter could have passed as 16 or 17 in the first movie and was much more believable in the battle as opposed to his age portrayed in the books. Meanwhile Edmund in the movies could have passed as no younger than 13 but the difference between the two was easily seen in the films and made them better in my opinion. You could actually imagine Peter being able to kill in the films and it made Edmund getting wounded a lot more impactful to me. The movie did a good job of portraying Jadis but in the books she was crazy strong. Like superhero strong. Didn’t she like rip a lamp post out of the ground or something in the first book? Either way when you saw Edmund fight her to save his older brother you knew how outmatches he was. She was a lot stronger and more skilled than both of them but you knew from looking at the brothers that Peter had a much better chance in a fight with her. So when she did stab Edmund in the movie you really feel Peter’s older brother need to protect him and pain from failing to do so. That elevates the scene so much when we watch Peter witness Edmund fall and then proceed to go insane and take on Jadis. That emotion driving him to hold his own and attack in hopes of avenging Edmund instead of just defending trying to survive. I really hope Netflix does that battle justice.

    Ben Barnes passed for 17 or so, and Eustace's actor looked 11-12. And Georgie might not have had golden hair, but she had three things going for her. One, acting ability. Two, insane levels of cuteness. And three, an older sister to play her as an adult.

      I don't think that C.S. Lewis really cared much about the appearances of any of them. If Lucy being blonde was a plot point, he would have brought it up at the beginning of the book, not the end.
      Also, the books never actually describe Edmund at all. At one point he is described as being *in a group* that is mostly fair-haired. We don't even know if he's one of the majority in the group, or one of the fewer with dark hair.

    I don't really see why their eyes or hair colour would be such a problem because it doesn't really make any difference to who the characters are as people. In my opinion I think it's better that they got older actors for the roles because I really can't imagine characters such as Peter going to battle at the age of 13 but that's just what I think :)

After all, she is pale, has red lips, is affiliated with snow, dwarves are loyal to her and she wanted an apple imbued with magical properties (in The Magician's nephew). Jadis is an evil mirror image of Snow White. Why isn't she portrayed with dark hair, as well ?
