After my mother found out she had cancer, the first thing she wanted was to go back to her hometown. The news and the fright moved her so much, me too but I couldn't show that I was worse than her after having lost my father recently and she couldn't stop thinking that I would be alone in the world. Through the bedroom window I looked at my mother every day in the hospitalization room and I couldn't do absolutely anything to help, you know when you want to do anything to change a situation but you feel powerless. It was painful just to look, I would leave the room and go to a reserved place and break down crying if I could I would change places with her. She was a warrior, after the first exam when she found out everything and they said she only had four weeks to live, she couldn't stop smiling even though she knew deep down that each day was a goodbye. Mom, you must be with my dad right now and know that you are missed and I love you both so much, not a day goes by that I don't think of you.

It’s 2023 and I still think this song is the best off the album just as I thought in 2015 when this album came out. Nothing will ever change my mind. This song was so beautiful to me because it reminded me of when I was in my hometown. I was just a kid back then in middle school trying to survive. I grew up isolated, bullied, and angry in school and at home where I lived. I remember replaying this song over and over again on the bus ride to and from school because sometimes.. it was the only thing that got me through my entire day. The lyrics always felt like I was having a conversation with myself about being the light within all the darkness trying to gnaw at me constantly during my childhood and development. The background tune every time Tyler stops singing always sounded so beautiful because it just feels like you’re in a rocket ship in space making friends with the stars. Hence, I could imagine that and I can be taken away to some other place in the nooks of my mind for awhile. I wish younger me could see that it got better. I am nearly in tears writing this comment because while I am listening to this song… I am living in a whole other town and I’m living an entirely different life. My adult life has been so much brighter and nearly just as amazing as this song. I still will always hold that younger me who has a small little flame somewhere deep inside dear. Am I the only one that thinks "hometown" would sound great on trench instead of blurryface? I believe that this song is about the dema. "Where we're from there's no sun, our hometown's in the dark". These lyrics kinda sound like they're spoken from someone inside the dema, possibly Clancy. The whole song just gives off a major trench vibe sonically and lyrically. I feel like it might have gotten more appreciation if it was on trench because the storyline would make more sense. I'd never listened before because I thought any band with a song that popular was overrated. Well I decided to give it a try, and was amazed at the meaning. I found House Of Gold the same day. Within a week I had listened to the entire Blurryface album. A month later, I was familiar with all their albums except for Self Titled. A couple months later I had nearly all their songs memorized, and even have listened to No Phun Intended several times. After my mother found out she had cancer, the first thing she wanted was to go back to her hometown. The news and the fright moved her so much, me too but I couldn't show that I was worse than her after having lost my father recently and she couldn't stop thinking that I would be alone in the world. Through the bedroom window I looked at my mother every day in the hospitalization room and I couldn't do absolutely anything to help, you know when you want to do anything to change a situation but you feel powerless. It was painful just to look, I would leave the room and go to a reserved place and break down crying if I could I would change places with her. She was a warrior, after the first exam when she found out everything and they said she only had four weeks to live, she couldn't stop smiling even though she knew deep down that each day was a goodbye. Mom, you must be with my dad right now and know that you are missed and I love you both so much, not a day goes by that I don't think of you.

It’s 2023 and I still think this song is the best off the album just as I thought in 2015 when this album came out. Nothing will ever change my mind. This song was so beautiful to me because it reminded me of when I was in my hometown. I was just a kid back then in middle school trying to survive. I grew up isolated, bullied, and angry in school and at home where I lived. I remember replaying this song over and over again on the bus ride to and from school because sometimes.. it was the only thing that got me through my entire day. The lyrics always felt like I was having a conversation with myself about being the light within all the darkness trying to gnaw at me constantly during my childhood and development. The background tune every time Tyler stops singing always sounded so beautiful because it just feels like you’re in a rocket ship in space making friends with the stars. Hence, I could imagine that and I can be taken away to some other place in the nooks of my mind for awhile. I wish younger me could see that it got better. I am nearly in tears writing this comment because while I am listening to this song… I am living in a whole other town and I’m living an entirely different life. My adult life has been so much brighter and nearly just as amazing as this song. I still will always hold that younger me who has a small little flame somewhere deep inside dear. I still don’t think Tyler and Josh will ever understand just how much their music and presence has impacted me over the years. I am planning to get a tattoo soon based off another song of theirs that is extremely special to me as well. It may sound cliché but I’m doing it because this band saved my life. I love the fandom who has stuck around all these years and I love you, Twenty One Pilots.

Am I the only one that thinks "hometown" would sound great on trench instead of blurryface? I believe that this song is about the dema. "Where we're from there's no sun, our hometown's in the dark". These lyrics kinda sound like they're spoken from someone inside the dema, possibly Clancy. The whole song just gives off a major trench vibe sonically and lyrically. I feel like it might have gotten more appreciation if it was on trench because the storyline would make more sense. This is just my opinion and I'm just kinda upset that one of the best songs on blurryface is slept on. :|

A year ago last week sometime, I heard Stressed Out the first time. I'd never listened before because I thought any band with a song that popular was overrated. Well I decided to give it a try, and was amazed at the meaning. I found House Of Gold the same day. Within a week I had listened to the entire Blurryface album. A month later, I was familiar with all their albums except for Self Titled. A couple months later I had nearly all their songs memorized, and even have listened to No Phun Intended several times. Yes, Stressed Out introduced me to Twenty One Pilots, but no, I am no less a fan than anyone else here. |-/ Stay Alive
