Moira is the support to play if you have zero peel from your team. She can pump some good stats, but the lack of utility she brings is the trade off to her survivability.
Technically Moira has one utility and that's doing Damage/Healing without actually being at the location. That of course is painfully mediocre compared to all the other supports utility wise.

I’ve found most people who say “ l haven’t lost as this comp a single time” have played that comp in the single digits, and that number is much closer to 1 than it is to 9

The way I interpret it is thus: "I need people to dive with me otherwise I die instantly"
On the contrary, I lose most of my games when my team has a moira. She just doesn't bring enough utility to the match and often times you die important fights because she's not focused on healing either. Regardless of padded stats with self healing and damage orb raking up damage and elims, she feels the least impactful to play with.
I think Brig wouldn't have such a misconception of their aura if they did a similar thing they did to lucio and had a ring around them that showed "ok, this is whats in your range, this isnt."

Im a long time brig main, and a number gremlin, love memorizing character stats and stuff (like damage a hit and bs) AND STILL never knew brigs passives range? I was genuinely stunned hearing him say the range?? Like i never noticed it goes that far
The biggest misconception about Inspire is how it actually triggers the heal. You would think that like Lucio you hit someone then for 5 seconds provide AoE heals to everyone around you. But that's not how it works. At the moment you hit someone and trigger inspire anyone in range and LoS of you has the 5 seconds heal over time applied to them. If you pop out, proc inspire and THEN someone comes into your range and LoS they're not getting healed.
Dude, I was playing a plat lobby as a brig and a Moira kept diving me and dying over and over and I question the Moira as to why she kept doing it and I honestly didn't understand the reason but apparently they were mad that they couldn't kill me so they kept trying to kill instead of my ana.
She’s just there for pressure and to get easy pickings (like a vulture, essentially killing what was dying anyway) while also giving some healing. Ppl think she’s supposed to be an alt sombra or something and that’s why they suck

Yep. When I first tried her (late stage OW1 days) I thought that's what u were supposed to do with her.
Then I watched someone that actually knew how to play her and realized her whip shot/dash away is the way to use it most of the time.
When a Rein is uses his charge, and u can whip him and throw him off course a little... it's so satisfying. You basically just saved a teammate and kept your team in the fight with it. Rather than them getting pinned, killed, and losing the fight.
I also love whipping the Winstons when they go to dive. Then they either don't make it to the high ground they were jumping too, or fall 10 ft short of their desired position, which helps heroes like Zen and Ana survive.
I've climbed from Bronze to Gold 2 with mainly Brig and Ana (especially after watching Awkward's videos).
@@MansterBear I've been using her bash to get the heck out of dodge a lot of the time since they increased the distance of it in OW2. It's definitely a different playstyle from 2018 when she could just be super aggressive because she also had a stun. During the later stage of Overwatch, she became more of a defensive hero which is what she was probably supposed to be from the start and since she's really the only support designed like that, she becomes a must pick in most metas no matter how many nerfs she's gotten since she can bodyguard the Ana.
Depends on the Rein. You can kind of test the waters and see if he's one of those "Hide behind my shields as soon as I take damage" Rein players. If he is, you can easily 1v1 as he just holds his shield up until he's dead.

I switch to Moira if they don't have an Ana, and my team like needs an overwhelming amount of healing just constantly thrown at them, a lot of ppl just have no level of self sufficiency. They just expect to be healed after every bullet immediately and she's good for those ppl
Unfortunately that’s like 90% of the teams. The reason people play Moira is mainly bc their team needs it. To have Baptiste or ana heal their 5hp missing, you’ll never me done but Moira I just throw an orb out and they have to do it with that.
Yea low ranks are brutal it's like they're magnetized to every projectile
This is why Moira is great in lower elo. She has survivability and easy to use kit. Doesn't get better than that when DPS and tank generally need all the help they can get but team fights are also chaotic and hard to survive as support. I really noticed the difference when i got into gold/plat lobbies in support. Bronze/silver really need you to hold their hand in games

I think they should give brig a visual ring like Lucio and Sombra have to help people tell the range
The problem with that is that her healing doesn't work the same.
Lucio provides healing over time within the circle.
Brig applies a heal over time status on everyone within the circle when she does damage. I think it's like 7 seconds long. You can leave the circle while it's active and you keep getting healed, it just won't be reaplied.
The circle would imply it works the same, a more accurate visualisation would be a pulse but that's too much visual clutter.
Fun fact. She already does if you pay attention. It's just a burst and not constantly there

Someone else was yapping about how a ring like Lucio’s would be confusing, but there are so many ways to visually work around that. A little effect that shoots out or flashes each time she does damage would be nice. Plus I’m pretty sure that the new health bar UI shows when you’re getting healed (might just be self healing), so adding a subtle effect to Brig’s passive could definitely work and would be useful. Visual clutter is a concern, and finding the balance between too much and too little is hard.

Honestly Moira is one of the best supports for lower elo, it's just that as you work up to ladder and players start understanding positioning so they don't feed, raw healing becomes less impactful than other utility abilities. In bronze she is still an absolute menace being able to output massive raw healing while also having a soft lock style damage in lobbies where nobody can aim lol.
Sûre, that's why she've been picked at Overwatch league this season :)
I’m DM1 support and she’s still really useful. I usually play Mercy but she’s a really solid second pick

Clarification: She has only 3 teams that have played her for more than 30 minutes(next closest time is all of about 9 minutes). I can't find the win rate but with under a 2% pick rate, win rate is not reliable anyway.
A 2% pick rate is less than every other support barring Lifeweaver, with a whopping 0.2%

Zen isn't even the support that's directly above Moira either in pick rate, it's Mercy. Which is insane given how heavily used dive comps are in OWL (Winston's pick rate was ~68-63%) The fact that Zen is played more than Moira INTO A DIVE DRIVEN LEAGUE says all I need to know.

Literally if you just land whip shots and stay within a certain distance of your squishy heroes to keep them alive, you will still be able to heal the tank pushing forward and not risk your life as brig.
Brigs whole thing is protecting the back line, stopping flanks.
Agreed, that's genuinely huge knowledge that would completely change how I played her if I still played.
She's a defensive healer. She pairs well with all the other healers. In my opinion, the only healers who can be played (if played right) in all setups are Brig, Anna, and Lucio. The others are very situational, and composition has a lot to do with it.

Moira excels at taking out annoying characters with high mobility like Mercy,Lucio, and Pharrah, characters with shield and reflects like Sigma and Genji. But I see so many people play her and either never shoot the heal orb, OR people don’t understand how strong it is and you gotta push with it.
Moira has no business chasing a good pharah. Her damage is too low to solo a good mercy. She also isn't too much help for sapping shields, but can play usefully into shields due to her balls.

@@BasicLichthat's not a good pharah then, especially the current version. Good Pharahs are gonna constantly have a cool down ready to get out of a bad situation. Even if you get the jump they can easily win the 1v1 with direct rockets cus its honestly not that hard to hit Moira cus of how close she is.
Brig has the ability to distract people or finish people or force back divers or do a lot of different things that are good value that other supports can do but none can do it while still healing their team
Down here in metal ranks everyone plays Moira since they can't aim so they just run around and hold right-click all God damn day

The hero you pick doesn't really matter. Moira is significantly better at low ranks because she's unkillable with her fade, self-heal, and skinny hitbox. She stays alive longer than a mercy that doesn't know how to hide behind walls or utilize her movement. She heals more than an ana that misses 70% of her shots. In GM/T500, moira dies just as easily as any other support due to their ability to punish cooldowns, and well... aim haha
If you're worried about what character to pick and you're below masters, don't worry about it. The character you're most comfortable on will almost always be the best pick. Team comp, meta, and counter picking is heavily overrated at lower ranks. Don't blame the characters picked, just play better 5head
Sure, to some extent, but there are serious weaknesses with certain comps that are easily exploited without even requiring much counter-swapping or team coordination.
For instance, if you're running Zen and Lucio as your supports, your team is just going to get run over. If you're running Symmetra and Reaper with no other hitscan, a Pharah+Mercy will annihilate you in a relatively open map.
Otherwise yes, in most other situations it is more ideal to play what you're comfortable with, even if it isn't the "ideal" or "optimal" hero to play in the matchup.
People also forget you can proc inspire with whipshot.

A friend of mine who plays brig and moira only was telling me the other day that he understands now what I mean about Moira being weak.

A lucio boop that knocks an enemy off high ground can lead to a free kill while still providing healing or speed to the team. A Moira can keep trying to pump heals and damage, but after a certain level the impact of big numbers fades off. Any team that can peel or focus fire can negates Moiras damage and healing. Meanwhile you have to take CC like Mei in order to negate a Lucio speeding a deathball into your team.

idk, i love my Moira, when things get serious i switch to her, then out heal and out damage everyone. I don't think she needs changing, she's good as is, in my opinion.
she is a really simple hero, and thats not a bad thing, just in higher elo she is used rarely because of her lack of outplays and support utility. her heals arent bad and sp is her damage if you have a little bit of gamesense. its just her skill celling is really low

@@unxp0d1t disagree. Getting good placement off of the map geometry with healing and damage orbs, using her fade correctly, and balancing damage and healing streams all take quite some time to learn
Can't lie though, baptist is the best support. Can heal for a lot, almost dead? Boom, full health. Almost dead again? Boom, immortality field. Bad guys in the back line, boom jump and head snipe em with the burst

The funny part of Moira is that she’s actually pretty good because she does nothing but get numbers. And with high enough numbers, any character can be good. As we saw when they hyperbuffed lifeweaver for a while

People in los get inspire when u deal damage, but they can walk out of your los or you can die and for the next 6 seconds they will still be healed

I started OW on like 2019 very soon after the beginning of her big nerfs. I had no idea she had been so OP before I started playing, but I instantly gravitated toward her. I enjoy the bodyguard playstyle.
Use Brig to defend the backline and deter flanking
People really need to understand brig heal aura lasts for quite some time after kicking in and fall back few seconds while protecting the backline and then go forward again and back.
As Brig I normally like protecting my supports or damage teammates, depending on what heroes they are. I also go brig if there’s an enemy sombra or tracer

I think that ball is vicious if they use it right. It can mean the death of the enemy team or not.

I think that mostly comes down to practice of movement and how much you pay attention to your surroundings. No utility, sure, but she's more for taking care of dives, I'd think
She's good against ball. Heal orb good to deal with piledriver.
The only problem that I have with Brig is that you need line of sight to heal with your passive, with the new maps being completely full of stuff and having 10 million corners, it makes it very hard to heal anybody. Also, I'm not sure if that was before since this short is old but her passive doesn't have that much range, it's only as long as your flail
Why on earth does anti nade prevent ALL healing? Shouldnt it just reduce the amount of healing the target receives? I think in order for other supports to be more valuable you need to nerf the anti nade and allow only junkerqueen ult to fully prevent any healing for the duration.

I didn't know hitting people with her mace healed teammates and didn't know her repair kit does more healing than the initial impact. Knowing that aura distance may not be useful to whoever's got Brig, but it helps to know where you can stand for healing
As a brig main you are supposed to be able to switch from long to close range depending on the situation. but you can get the healing done from a range as long as you hit you flail ability.
Ive always thought of brig as riot police , you protect those around u from a diver n whip them away

You should play Brig in the ''Mid line''. This means: far enough up front to help the front line with whipshot to proc inspire, but far enough back that you can peel for the backline.

The amount of times I’ve had a brig on my team and they play so passive either because they are scared to fight or they picked brig when our team comp doesn’t compliment her
I never knew brig had that much healing potential. I never knew the range was that impressive
The problem is most players these days have way more time on more traditional shooters, so they only understand bigger number better player.
Brig is a beast at flank denial and people sleep on her ability to disrupt abilities with her boop.
Moira is best dive support and it's not even close, I'm a ball player and i play her exactly like ball (as long as we have some sustain and i dont need to be main healer) and get tonnes of value and rarely ever die. Moira even has more kill potential than ball at times because a damage orb into a suck and punch is more dps than people might realise.

Lucio, Baptiste and Kiriko are better for dive comps. Baptiste can throw a cross-map immo field to keep your divers from dying for a precious few seconds to either get heals or get their cds back, he can heal divers from one hell of a distance and is himself difficult to dive and trade backlines with.
Lucio can speed aggressive tanks/dps in and out at a moment's notice, and he can get cheeky environmental elims with boop (depending on the map) Sound Barrier also works great with dives since the extra 700 health will sustain divers long enough to get the needed kills.
Kiriko can suzu, heal, or dps depensing on the situation. She can also tp out of a bad spot or wall climb, and kit rush is an insane ultimate for dives.
You will still get a lot of value out of Moira in dive comps, but there are better supports.
Me and my buddy, low to mid gold, run a duo of Brig (me) and Lucio (him). And we straight up carry the team the whole time. As a duo we were able to protect point alone for at least a good minute before our people finally did something. It’s a glorious combo
Ive been saying for years that brig should have a visible aura like lucio. It would make it so much easier to figure out her most optimal positioning for new or inexperienced players.
Honestly ana brig goes hard asf. Otherwise i find brig zen can work but it's rough for your dps/tanks since your healing depends on constantly doing damage.
I will never stop playing moira
I played very little competitive in OW1 and I kinda gaslit myself into thinking Moira was amazing. Thanks to some much-needed perspective from Flats and other players, I’m shelving Moira to pick up other healers to utilize their abilities. Don’t get me wrong, I still think Moira’s raw healing output is incredibly strong, but one anti and all of that gets shut off.
Brig at top level comps is used as an area denial tool for keeping more vulnerable supports like Ana and kiriko , alive but mostly Ana currently. Because on a dive comp wear diving on the enemy Ana is really important brig allows for your teams dive to be more successful because your support can be one difficult to kill unit. And the reason u usually loos a team fight is because either your DPS and tank R dumb, or either your Ana or brig made a bad decision that got them killed. This duo is viable for most comps but usually on something like a rush/brawl comp Lucio bap is just better.
Inspire having a 65 ft / 20 m radius is insane

If they want an soft rework (no animation changes needed) for Moira they could adjust the orbs to do some different things like the heal orb makes it so someone hit with it can receive 20% damage reduction up to 2 seconds after it stops hitting you and the damage orb gives the enemy something like a 20% slow for up to 2 seconds after it stops hits you. Then to offset this because we all know blizzard likes to offset things. Just decrease the overall damage and healing of the orbs by 20%. This would make people think a bit more about when to use them. For instance if your team was going to orisa ult and you threw it just as she was pulling people in, they may not make it out in time due to the slow. And if you are using the healing orb to try and save someone obviously the bit of damage reduction would help accomplish that.
I get what you're saying, but I think blizzards idea for Moira is a character that brings a lot of healing and damage but with no other util. Which is fine, I think it's good that there is a support that's really simple and easy to play while also being able to do a disgusting amount of healing (or damage)

Brig moira is good if you have dive tank with one dive dps and a rear lines sniper
It sad cause Moria is one if not the only healer I will play. Cause she is easy for me and I enjoy her. I never like support either. I always went for Tank and DPS cause, in my opinion, support, it is boring and makes me want to sleep. But in most cases, I feel the need to play healer, and Moria is the only one I can play. Next to Mercy ofc, but she even gets super boring at times. Beside that, I can't stand playing the other supports cause I don't like their play styles.

@dreameater7445 I can't stand playing any of them. Snipers have never been my thing, always boring.
Bap has too much going on with him at once, and it is hard hitting teammates with my heals, same with Ana.

Why they did never put through that experimental Moira ability that reduced an enemy’s outgoing damage?? Now THAT was a super unique ability that required a ton of skill to hit, was on a long cool down and just made her character more impactful
The first one I can give some context to. She's stated a lot in her videos she's not a high level player and plays mostly for fun, which I can attest aggressive brig Moira is pretty fun.
I forget her name but she does a bunch of comp ideas just based off of fun gimmicks.

I think the best support duo is Ana Kiriko or Ana Mercy. Depends on the situation

It feels like Brig's healing is like 3 meters max most of the time though
