  • This is round 11 of the 2007 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Championship, and round 12 of the 2006/2007 Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP from the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL. This is Ricky Carmichael's FINAL Supercross race of his career.
    Returning contenders like 2004 champ Chad Reed, defending World Supercross champ James Stewart, Travis Preston, Nick Wey, 2-time 125cc West champ Ivan Tedesco, Michael Byrne, Tim Ferry, David Vuillemin, Nathan Ramsey, Grant Langston, Kevin Windham, and defending champ Ricky Carmichael battle it out for the 2007 Amp'd Mobile AMA Supercross Championship and 2006/2007 Amp'd Mobile World Supercross GP. This is Ricky Carmichael's part-time season, and is dominated by James Stewart. Ricky Carmichael is now officially a dad as his wife Ursula gave birth to twins -- a boy and a girl earlier that week. Watch as James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael stage an unforgettable battle in Ricky Carmichael's LAST Supercross race of his career.
    Enjoy.

    These were the best years for Motocross/ Supercross ever with James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael. Without them it seems boring. I truly appreciate your efforts in preserving the best racing the world has ever known. Thanks again!

      You're very welcome. My favorite years of racing was '97-2006. I looked up to guys like McGrath, Windham, Fonseca, Reed, and Carmichael just to name a few. It's hard to believe that with Stewart's career on the major decline, Carmichael retired as of '08, McGrath retired as of '07, Fonseca paralyzed in '06, etc. Chad Reed's the only guy out there today after Windham retired 2 races into the '13 season. Now, Reed is the ONLY reason I have left to follow this sport with just about every guy I grew up watching race gone.

      Ricky Carmichael definitely accomplished a BUNCH in the 10 years he raced Supercross and Motocross. I thought Jeremy McGrath accomplished a lot with his 72 250cc Supercross wins and 7 championships in 10 seasons, but Carmichael has a lot more stats that us mere mortals would kill to have. The one stat I see etched in stone is his back-to-back perfect MX seasons in 2004 and 2005.

      The only thing I was sorry about at the end of that night of racing was that Stewart won this race when I really wanted it to be Ricky or Chad Reed. As much as I miss these battles, the Reed/Carmichael battles will always be the best battles in my book.

      An epic final battle for RC and JS; I just wish RC won that battle.
      A win here would've been RC's first win past Daytona since the '02 Vegas finale.

      Not sure how, but I was extremely disappointed Ricky didn't win his last Supercross race. I still remember thinking to myself, "Ricky, if you don't win your last Supercross race, I don't know if I'll follow you on your NASCAR career..."

      @MathewVsSportsMediaandGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't disagree. Ricky always knew how to race for points and he just never made those big mistakes like we saw at St. Louis the year before (and at Dallas).

    • @Racer57
      @Racer57 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why did he retire midseaon?

    • @MathewVsSportsMediaandGames
      @MathewVsSportsMediaandGames  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Racer57 Carmichael had announced that 2006 was his last full year. He has repeatedly said he "wanted to go out on top." 2007 was RC's part-time schedule before full-on retirement for 2008 to pursue a stock car career (which eventually didn't work out). I can't say I blame RC for retiring at his age (27) because Jeff Stanton did the same thing after 1994, and he was only age 26 at the time.
      Ricky certainly had an outstanding career in the end. He tallied 150 AMA wins (48 Supercross, 102 Motocross) in his 11 seasons, and he has a total of 4 perfect seasons if you count his 125 East SX season in 1998 (his other 3 perfect seasons came in Motocross -- 2002, and 2004-2005). RC certainly has stats that won't be broken in this day and age, but what I see etched in stone is his back-to-back perfect seasons in 2004-2005.

      Calling Ricky the King of Supercross???? No way! Motocross, yes, but not Supercross. RC never came close to McGrath's 72 career total wins; he ended with 48.
