  • In this comprehensive TH-cam video, we explore advanced techniques for maximizing BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) connectivity through the configuration of EBGP (External Border Gateway Protocol) using loopback addresses and multihop functionality. These techniques are crucial for optimizing connectivity between BGP peers across diverse network topologies.
    Join us as we delve into the intricacies of EBGP configuration, covering the setup of loopback addresses and the utilization of multihop capabilities. Whether you're a network administrator, IT professional, or networking enthusiast, this video provides valuable insights and practical guidance on enhancing BGP connectivity.
    Discover how leveraging loopback addresses enhances BGP stability and fault tolerance, while multihop functionality facilitates communication between distant BGP peers. With detailed explanations and real-world examples, you'll gain the knowledge and skills needed to implement these advanced BGP techniques effectively in your network environment.
    Join us on this journey to unlock the full potential of your BGP connectivity through advanced EBGP configuration with loopback and multihop capabilities.

    Two take aways, i observed that should be highlighted as important for your viewers, 1) in order to see the loop back its important to inform your router how to get to that neighbor network, hence you included the static routes. 2) the ebgp-multhop is needed when you have different AS's (ebgp) if same AS it is not needed (ibgp). Just highlighting some important things you are completely correct in the discussion.

    Thank you for your videos. I was playing around and tried to advertise the Loopback through the BGP updates, and realized there was no other route to it, so the neighborship could not form. I tried static routes for both links and that worked. Traffic fails over to second link in about 10 seconds using static routes to the redundant ISP interfaces.

    Sir we have scenario of multihop dula wan links ebgp
    There no loopback presents
    Still redunndabcy is maintained, no static routes
    Once neogbourship established it automatically get routes ...?
    It is in active active mode

    Can we configure bgp between those 2 routers exit interface and advertise loop back as like basic bgp ?

    • @SIKANDARshaik
      @SIKANDARshaik  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, you can configure BGP between two routers using their exit interfaces and advertise the loopback addresses.

      @SIKANDARshaik In an enterprise network or ISP, how do they configure eBGP? Is it between two interfaces or between a loopback and static/dynamic routing? Which method is more efficient? I appreciate your feedback.

    Hi Sir, while we have eBGP session established between two eBGP routers peering relationship then why do we have to have static route\IP route for reachability between two directly connected routers ?

    • @kanhaiyalalpathak3638
      @kanhaiyalalpathak3638 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because the ebgp peering was not made by physical interface, the neighborship form with loopback interface, so they are not directly connected just like the physical interface, so to reach them, we have added the static route for the neighbor loopback IP on the respective router.

    If we configure Loopback network under bgp instead of static route. Do we get reachability ?

    Hi Sir. Your teaching abilities are extraordinary. Very explanative.
    I have a small doubt : we used loopbacks to communicate with different AS used static route as igp between AS with loopbacks.
    If both the wan interfaces are down , anyhow we won't be able to communicate if it's physical or loopback interface. Then may I know how configuring loopbacks help.
    Wherein IGP if we use loopbacks, if physical int is down then we still be having connectivity.
    Your inputs are greatly appreciated.
    Thank you Sir. Please updating the videos like this it's been very informative.

      if you don't have any path to reach that neighbor router, so the TCP session will not established, thus in this case, BGP neighborship will not formed, even you are using the loopback IP for peering.
