Hello from Michigan, new subscriber too, I love watching other channels who also raise and milk goats. I'm beed a breed of Alpine dairy goats who I breed for heavy milking lines. I get about 16-18 pounds per doe. Thank you for sharing. Till next time God Bless.
Hi I learned about your channel from Heather @Sage and Stone Homestead. I enjoyed your content and I see you share tons of content on goats so I will continue to follow your channel. I also especially loved your magnet system that makes complete sense to me, thats how my brain works by doing sticky note reminders and color coding things. I have four does but they only five months as of now, they will be bred in the fall. Thanks for sharing your system. God Bless😊
Thank you for sharing this video and the information! I’m just stared milking again after almost 30 years and love any new information. I also love your labeling system.
Tansy and Wisteria and Oak (our buck) are. Ivy was but has a small extra teat so we don’t have any paperwork for her or any of her offspring. She has never passed it to any of her kids, but a son passed it to a daughter once so we castrate all males out of Ivy. None of her offspring have ever had it here on our farm.
This is a GENIUS system to get the milk cooling quickly. I’m Totally copying this! Lol I’ve been putting my jars in a cooler with cheapo ice packs, BUT will even keep the hay out of it. I scrub my milk stand with white vinegar and a hand broom. One of my girls is super hard to milk and I make a mess. The first half of milking her her udder is hard I’m hoping it’s just due to being a FF and super full. Maybe if her udder stretches some more next year she’ll be perfect.
Thank you! It’s works great to keep it cool so if I get distracted by trimming hooves or other barn craziness, the milk is fine for a bit. One of mine used to be super hard to milk too because her udder was so firm and she has gotten better in subsequent freshenings, so hopefully yours does too!
@@EweGoatToBeKidding YES I always get distracted on my way back inside. Lol My main problem right now is the heat in Central Texas. It’s in the 90s and since we’ve had so much rain it’s humid and gross. I’m grateful my hubby bought me a fan for in the milk barn lol
Love the video and the channel. Don’t change the name lol. Thx for sharing. Keep in mind I know nothing about having milk goats and I just buy raw goats milk from someone in my Azure group until we get our own; so take this lightly lol. I was researching about goats and mastitis. I want to treat as naturally as possible. Anyways, could this be why the one goats milk has decreased and goes off quick? “Mastitis is an important disease of sheep and goats because it decreases the amount and quality of the milk produced by a dairy animal and reduces weight gain in lambs and meat kids.“ “Early signs of mastitis include a drop in milk yield, modified milk texture, color, smell and/or taste, lameness, and / or misshapen udders.”
That’s a good thought. I haven’t directly tested, but I could. She was struggling with some looser stool which was likely worms and we’ve cleared that all up and her supply has increased by several cups. So for the moment I’m not worried about mastitis, but I appreciate it!
@@EweGoatToBeKidding yes, any illness can bring supply down. Or at least I experienced that in relation to nursing my babies. Glad you got it worked out.
We are noticing since we weaned Breezy's kids and started milking her that our milk (that we put all together) is tasting way more goaty than normal.... sad! But yes sometimes flavor depends on the goat itself!!
I love your labeling system!!
Thanks! It’s been so helpful!

@@EweGoatToBeKidding isn't it crazy how that can jump generations?!
@SageandStoneHomestead Yes! Genetics are fascinating!

And Heather from Sage and Stone sent me to this vid.

Heather was so kind to tag me like she did! She’s amazing.

@magen2271 yep. Exactly. Me too! I’m glad she’s doing well.

I’ve noticed that a vitamin B shot helped some, so you could try that for Breezy! And maybe separate hers for a few days while you see if it helps.
@@EweGoatToBeKidding Thank you I'll try that!! I'm making a video taste testing milk and I'll give you credit for that hack lol
@SageandStoneHomestead haha, thanks!
Heather from San Stone sent me.
Welcome!! Thanks so much for watching. And thanks Heather!
Where did you get you milk strainer at?
Caprine Supply. I got my milking pail from them too. They are great!
