@en830 "admittedly" the Meteor never was deployed in any air to air combat except shooting down pilotless buzz bombs. The second half of the Normandy battle, Operation Market Garden, the Ardennes Offensive, Hurtgen forest battle, the Bridge at Ramagen...nowhere to be found, because unlike Typhoons, Thunderbolts and Mustangs was never sent to the front lines of battle. No glory in attacking mostly refugee columns in April 1945, Deutschland buried in rubble, whole units already surrendering.
check the wikipedia page on the gloster meteor under operational history. "The nearest No.616 squadron came to a jet-to-jet battle came on 19 March, when a force of Arado Ar 234 jet bombers attacked their airfield."
Awesome video, probably the best one around on the Me252. If you have further air to air please upload....... and hopefully with wheels up. Like to see it in full cry.....
@SchlangersiX They never met. The British were terrified their new jet fighter should fall into German hands and never used it operationally during the war.
If "they did fight arado234's", then you are changing history as November of 1950 is recognized as the first jet vs jet combat. (Korea) If you can recall, do you have a location and date for Meteors vs Arado 234's or a link ? Btw, a Arado 234 supplied the first recon' mission for the Luftwaffe over the Normandy hedgerows, also the first successful jet recconnaisance mission ever.
I would never use wikipedia as a primary source but I do like you question the historical record. I followed your link and went one step further, to the specific Wiki 616 Sq Meteor page and they have no record of any air combat victories by the Meteor unless you included V-1 pilot-less pulse-jet cruise missiles. Most likely the Arado 234 attack was over in minutes. Interesting the Brits were concerned about their tech. lead in jet engines during the war, but sold out the RR Nene after
Very cool! Love the original paint scheme!
A true BEAUTY and the first fighter jet WOW
Nicely done,, glad to see the third one flying.

That is so awesome!
At least one of the reasons is that many Brits really believe their Meteor's were the world's first jet fighter aircraft.
No, they are not kidding.

Fantastic! Thanks Bud! :-)

Man I'd love to photograph that air-2-air over the cascades.
@danjama Well then its the definitely the 262....!!!!!!! First operational jet.
Now i know what I'm gonna buy when I win the lottery!
@SchlangersiX
They never met. The British were terrified their new jet fighter should fall into German hands and never used it operationally during the war.
then after the war they volunteered their jet tech to russia
@danjama Nope infact it goes to the He 178.
@danjama Well it was only beaten by 2 months :D. Wish they had a dogfight but I don't think the two ever met over Europe :(.
Then the Caproni Campini N1 and then the Gloster E.28/39 :D
