Fantastic valve clearance tutorial video for Burgman scoot. Keep them coming Mitch. Many thanks.
Thanks, will do!
I only look at my Haynes manual for the specs, Mitches videos for everything else. I've just checked my valves and notice one of my exhaust valves is nearing the limit at just over 0.2mm so I'll have to dismantle again soon. It's a tight place to work and not the easiest of jobs for me now at 73. I tend to get a little achey after being bent over a bike for a few hours these days!
Sei un artista Meccanico molto chiarissimo tanti complimenti BRAVO
Many thanks it's wonderful video
is it the valve clearance same as with burgman 200 too?
I guess I am not seeing how the valves got adjusted? What did I miss or is it just moving the chain a tooth that does it? Thank you!
This video does not show valve adjustment at all. It’s misleading !
Mitch's videos are usually exceptional, but I don't see the point in taking the valve cover off, risking stripped threads on the journal holder, when the only thing adjusted or changed is that the chain tensioner gets reset. That can be done by just removing the two socket head bolts holding the tensioner in. Did I miss the adjustment?
Yeah same here. If the gap is out of spec then what? There isn't any adjustment shown here to make the gap in spec! Love Mitch's videos, it is the reason that I now ride a Burgmen.
Fabulosa la explicacion como todos los videos eres un genio Amigo.
Espetaculares seus videos muito instrutivos
Hi Mitch very useful video, do you have a video for Suzuki burgman 650 2015 valve inspection and adjusting valve clearance?
Muito bom amigo!!! Parabéns! Very nice friend!
You are the best my friend..
Thanks Jonny!
Mitch's Scooter Stuff where are you from ?
nice work!! well done
Hello mitch
I Wonder if i can Mount a k7 engine on a Burgman k3 ??
I have a malaguti madison 400 , very similar engine , do you thing that the chain alignement is aplicable ? Thx
Hi loved video at what miles did you have to re shim valves ? I remember watching your check video years ago still in spec at 40 k miles .I just brought a 400 in UK its at 35k at moment .I've no service history .
According to the Suzuki manual for the K2 (2001-2002) and K3 (2003) engines. Valve adjustment is done by Inserting a thickness gauge between the valve stem end and the adjusting screw on the rocker arm. In this video this is not done. Therefore it’s misleading and NOT a valve adjustment process. It actually shows disassembling the whole valve gear which is not required when adjusting the valve clearance.
this is for later model using bucket and shim. He forgot to show the shim replacement it seems.
Mitch has you ever made a video on a engine replacement of the Burgman 400?
What happened to the part about changing the tapped shims?
Haha Yes, nothing adjusted here, just the disassembly/reassembly sequence. Everyone got a couple of minutes into the third video and decided to sell the damn thing if the clearances weren't right!
@@MarkDaleADV im a mechanic, I watched the video, and I thought .. what did he adjust ? .. well nothing.. just disassembling and assembling back.. unless he replaced the cams .. nothing else
Great video, Mitch! I followed your steps but I have a problem: when I tight the tensioner because it moves the camshaft and I lose the alingment. What do you think?
my frend can i ask a question my cam lines are like yours a little up the inlet cam was yours working ok that mine runing very sick ?
Nice work ;)
Thanks Dawid!
Excellent tutorial. How many miles on the engine?
Thanks Brett! 56,000 miles
As usual excellent tutorial. good job Mitch. One question does making sure you have the correct sequence of numbers on the chain 1 thru 15 (with the sprockets aligned properly) assure the valve clearance will be within tolerances?
Im a auto mechanic as, well a boat mechanic, I do work in a lot of 4-stroke engines.. I would like to know what you just adjusted there.. there is nothing to adjust in that motor , lifters are hydraulics in this motor, and they self adjust, basically, you just took everything out and put it back, BTW I would have replace the valve covers o rings , is a good tuturial, to inspect or replace the something damaged, like the chain , or the cams
I have a 2018 400 version 12000 miles wcheck the manual says around 16000 1st time and 24000 the 2nd time since you work on engines what mileage would be best to check valves for the first time?
Hi Mitch! I understand you did this work at 56 000 miles to replace valve shims. What were the values of the gaps before replacing the shims. And what shims did you use to return to correct valves clearances. Also is those shims easily available from Suzuki? Thanks for your nice videos!
I think the mec would use a grinding stone to remove material off the shims if too thick and by new ones depending on original thickness and gap to fill if too thin
@@xamax4 thanks for your feed-back. My question was before checking the valves clearances on my Burgman 400 at 32 000 km. I was hoping to have some info in case my clearances were off. Fortunately my valves clearances were within specs so I had nothing to do except reassemble everything!
I really like your videos. You've convinced me to buy a used Burgman 400. I am planning to buy a 2009 ABS version. Are there any issues that I should look for. Or, maybe you can do a video on what to check when someone wants to buy a used Burgman.
check the belt and the clutch
@@xamax4 I've got it already and I am quite happy. The clutch looks good and I've got a Kevlar belt. However, I've changed the weights with the one that slides so I have a better range from the driving pulley. Thanks to your videos.
how to install variator ventilation pipe suzuki burgman 400
Your not adjusting anything? only removal ofparts en build back?
Where in vid did you adjust the valves?
Jeez what a horrible fiddly job. And the panels never seem to go back as solid as before. Even changing the plug is a total mare. I never knew how lucky I was servicing my 250 Superdream.
