Austria should of been allowed to decide after World War 1 who they wanted to join the same with other German speaking areas
They should have been occupied as it was done in 1945. Coz they definitely didn't feel it as the war is over.
Both Austrians and Germans descend from the Cherusci tribes of Arminius, so historically, Austrians were regarded as Germans and viewed themselves as such. The Austrian lands (including Bohemia) were part of the Holy Roman Empire and the German Confederation until the Austro-Prussian war in 1866, which resulted in Prussia expelling the Austrian Empire from the Confederation.

Excellent footage and commentary. I liked the commentator's perspective. But then it is in-escapable to watch a footage without a perspective, which is often framed by narratives and visuals. If people are un-comfortable with the footage missing significant moments in recouting the events, it is but natural. There's nothing like a comprehensive documentary. We are in the better side of history, in that we know what happened to the decisions that were taken by the parties inolved and their consequences. Therefore it wise to support a perspective of peace and welfare and avoid the impulse wanting to know everything about historical events, moreso about wars.

As unbelievable as it seems, as a arm chair historian of WW2 I agree with the statement at the beginning of the video that one man was responsible for starting the war. It all comes down to decisions he alone made. Even Hermann Goering couldn't persuade him otherwise. To those who would say that the victors write the history, remember the saying, hindsight is 20 20.
The worst part is, _as a arm chair historian of WW2 with hindsight,_ you remain completely oblivious to reality and choose to believe the worst example(s) of rewriting history that the world has ever seen.

Have you notice something similar, the same thing happened in Ukraine, initially Putin just wanted independence of Donbas region and then them rejoining Russia. He also claimed the same thing that Ukraine is treating the ethnic minority badly and that he needed to intervene. However in his mind, it’s all of Ukraine that he wanted to occupy. It also happened in weeks prior to war. Then war came but the only factor that prevented it from being successfully and spreading was a strong response from other countries of support to Ukraine. I think if it allies back then drew the red line early on, world war 2 would have never happened.

There was no invasion in Austria. That's how the biased English history calls it. Austria asked for the Anschluss even before the WWI ended but the Allies prevented that from happening.
The plebiscite taken in Austria at that time to choose whether to say yes to Anschluss was 99A% in favor of it by the Austrian population.
