கோவைக்காயில்... மோர் மிளகாய் போடுவது போல ஓரளவு நைசாக வெட்டி மோர் உப்பு சேர்த்து ரெடி செய்து வெயிலில் நன்றாக காய வைத்து காய வைத்த எண்ணெயில் பொரித்து எடுத்துப் பாருங்க.. அதன் சுவை தயிர் சாதம் மட்டுமல்ல அனைத்து வெரைட்டி சாதம் சாம்பார் உடன் கடித்துக் கொண்டு சாப்பிட அருமையாய் இருக்கும் சார்

விதையிலிருந்து வளரும் செடியிலிருந்து பூ , காய் வர இரண்டு வருடம் ஆகும். எனவே இரண்டு வருட தாவரத்திலிருந்து பதியம் போட்டு பயன்படுத்துகிறார்கள்.

Reason for not going with seeds is because the seeds take year/years to mature and produce flowers. But in the case of cutting we always choose the tastiest and healthy plant for propogation which will inturn provide the clone of the matured and healthy plant. From cutting, all the plant need to get enough leaves and roots to produce flowers. That is also the reason for your ivy gourd to taste better than the wild one , because it's the clone of a healthy plant with tasty fruits .
This is also the reason for many other plants which are propogated by cuttings . Some plans take months or years to get matured .

மிக அருமை. நான் கோவை பழத்தின் விதைகளை போட்டு செடி வரவில்லை . பதியன் போட்டது கிடைத்தால் வைக்கலாம் என நினைத்தேன். ஆச்சரியமாக விதை போட்ட இடத்தில் பல நாட்கள் கழித்து கோவை செடி வளர்ந்தது. ஒரேயொரு செடி வளர தொடங்கியது. அதை மாடியில் வைத்தேன். மிகவும் மெதுவாக, செழிப்பு இல்லாமல் இருந்தது. கவலையாக இருந்தது. பிறகு பூத்தது. பிஞ்சு பிடிக்கவில்லை. இப்போது தொடர்ந்து மழை பெய்து வருகிறது. கொடி செழிப்புடன் வளர்கிறது. காய்க்காக காத்திருக்கிறேன்.
குச்சி கிடைத்தாலும் வைத்து விடுங்கள். விதையில் இருந்து வரும் செடியில் எந்த அளவுக்கு விளைச்சல் கொடுக்கும் என்று தெரியவில்லை. நானும் முயற்சி செய்து பார்க்கலாம் என்று இருக்கிறேன்.

அருமையான பதிவு. நானும் முதல் முயற்சி செய்து இருக்கிறேன். கொடி நன்கு படர்ந்து வருகின்றது. பிஞ்சும் அதிகமாக உள்ளது. ஆனால் காய் பெரிதாக வருவதில்லை. 3 அல்லது ,4 mm அளவிற்கு காய்த்து பின்னர் பழுத்து அல்லது காய்ந்து விடுகிறது. என்ன செய்யலாம். உங்கள் உதவி தேவை. கொடி வைத்து 3 மாதங்கள் ஆகிறது.

Very true. It taste like velari. I have a Kovaikai kodi in my garden. Last November, I saw some sprouts and let it grow in Pandhal. I initially got 2 to 5 kais. In the last 1 month, i harvest minimum 1/2 kg every 3 days. I get Good yield during rainny weeks and days when the climate is full.

from seed , it will take 1 year to get fruits, bit slow in growth, thats y they propagate thro cuttings mostly and thro seed we need to put both male and female plant together to get first fruits.
