Restored Caterpillar 245B ME Excavator Working.

- Cat's largest 2 series excavator the 65 tonne 245B. This particular machine dates from 1991. You can also see a 229D loading a crusher in the background. These machines are seen here working near Dublin , Ireland.

Good old caterpillars used to love my 245 a real bulk muckshifting digger .A credit to the owner good to see the older cats still being used

Just love the older cats. Maybe they didnt have all the comforts of today's machines but they would dig and dig usually without a problem. Ran everyone from the 215 225 231d 235c and the 245 c all would do ae hat you asked them to do. I really enjoy seeing company's still using these older models
I love seeing these old work horses still earning their keep. Completely unrelated, I think im going to Ireland.
They were hellish things to run compared to the new gear today but I would jump on one in a heartbeat given the chance!!..spent many hours in the seat of a 235 back in the day!..
Very nice restored machines, they are worked like they are brand new!
245 is a Heck of a Machine, you could get a lot done in a day with one...and that engine surely running like a CAT engine should, it knuckles in the power as needed.
This cat is truly something to never forget,these made Caterpillar there brand..

I drove one of these 245s on the M50 motorway in Dublin Ireland 32yrs ago.Not as fast as a Poclain 220 at the same time,
but it could sure as hell dig.Great to see one restored to working order.3306 engine too

It has a 3406 engine not a 3306 the 235 used the 3306.
My dad was an operator for over 30 years. I have a few photos of him with this type of excavator.
A cat 245 ME will out dig alot of machines I ran a D series and that thing dug rock
Nothing will out dig a healthy 235 or a 245 in the same weight class ,nothing , these machines are built for high production tough digging . With the right operator in the cab they are untouchable , especially. the D series

Nothing in that weight class will out dig a healthy 245 nothing Liebherr are good machines but they can't hold a candle to a real CAT. I have seen these machines with 58,000 hrs in a iron ore mine in Minn. digging like a bastard. ,. like a bastard , get it boy , i say, i say , i say boy.
@@albertemanuello7471 All the mines I know use Leibherr. Its the quality of the materials they use. A Leibherr would be barely run in when a CAT is ready for the scrap yard.
Mining is very intensive on machinery.
Old girl was slow when it was new. Guess a good refurb is 1/4 the cost of new
245s are not slow open the throttle and go , i don't think you know shit about backhoes thats what think boy.
The operator don’t have experience
