On the yuan-ti point, they are awesome villains to fight. Cannibalism, demon god worship, human sacrifice, evil magic, and mass slavery makes them always fun to throw down with.
These changes would make the adventure much more interesting. When I ran it, I realized early the party could easily softlock the whole campaign, so we had a lot of side quests and assassination attempts to try and get the black mask back.
Based on what I heard of Dragonlance convoluted story and recons Takhisis is a splinter of the Tiamat oversoul, and how many divine rules and treaties she has broken behind everyone’s packs, saying Tia’mat is a convoluted non-god fragment (somewhat similar to what Odin did) to smuggle part of herself past the immortals’ gaze is a Takhisis thing to do. Only for the party discover the ruse at the end and tattle on her.
Returning to the first of the Hasbro 5th slop. Well, I gotta say your update brought interesting new ideas, ones I'd happily use in their own adventure.
Unlike the 5E World of Darkness, the new Ravenloft. Mystara vampires are still rooted in horror and act like monsters. As long as WOTC and Hasbro don't touch Mystara again. They will remain monsters.
Though not a great module by 5e standards, I think it is a good module by old school standards. It has several monsters that the players cannot defeat toe to toe and encourages them to think of creative solutions. The second half is all political maneuvering that affects the ending. Honestly, one of the strongest modules in terms of choices presented to players in the second half as they can just sat, "screw you guys, we are going for the hard path."
It's abolutely not the worst 5e adventure by a wide margin. Would you rather do Mexican Day of the Dead as an adventure in Radiant Citadel? I didn't think so.
@innocentsmith6091 yeah, it has a clear goal, political intrigue, side quests and minor adventure hooks leading to the main plot, and a big sense of the unknown as you do a some environment changing. I think it is better than half of the 5e catalogue, honestly.
@@MadAtreides1 Synn is far more cunning, she's going to turn everybody against each other, gaslight her enemies and look completely innocent in the process. She's definitely not openly raising an army to get her way. At least not one who knows she's in charge
I would have to acquire them, and conversions are one of the more difficult types of videos to do because it requires a lot of analysis. I have about 2 years of videos left still pending.
With the dragon talk. May I racamend a a Black dragon that talks to them in a different language. Lets say Belcadese as the Dragon loved the language and prefers it over Draconic. If none of the players know it he will have either a interpiter or a magic item for the players to use. Showing just dragons can be randomly aligned but tend to enjoy things of the world of man.
Something about Mystara that has the forgotten realms don't is that the dragons are still special in the setting. Dragons are more common in the forgotten realms than even Dragonlance. A setting where dragons are important to the lore. Bonus random vampires in RPGs rant. Unlike the 5E World of Darkness, the new Ravenloft. Mystara vampires are still rooted in horror and act like monsters. As long as WOTC and Hasbro don't touch Mystara again. They will remain monsters.
When it comes to Mystara, Mr. Welch is the very definition of "dedicated".

As do I, Mr. Welch. As do I.

This adventure would be _far_ better as a supplement for the original DragonLance modules, for when players get tired of the Hickman railroad.

I was thinking about replacing Tiamat with Synn, what do you think?

Have you considered doing pathfinder adventure paths for 'Converting to Mystara'
