I watched it all but didn't understand any of it really. I was hoping to find some information I could use to treat my psoriasis. I have to ask if anyone understands this enough to draw any conclusions at all. I just googled Macrophages and Neutrophils and that helped understand it a little. Rewatching it helped a lot. So the skin barrier signals the tcels of danger and they respond sending tc1 and tc17. I had a pimple on my thumb once that I tried to squeeze out and that turned into a large psoriasis patch on my thumb. But I think the main environmental trigger is a fungal infection that I've had for maybe 20 years. And I have recently learned that HIV could be a cause of my inability to fight my fungal infection and that HIV could exist for a long time with few symptoms. Anyways, I'll have to get tested for that obviously.
But how I got to this page was a reference to Superantigens from a google search that said. "Several studies suggest that people with psoriasis are more likely to have Candida colonize in their body. It's thought that substances called “superantigens” and toxins from species of Candida can worsen psoriasis symptoms." And a wiki search of Superantigens said "the large number of activated T-cells secrete large amounts of cytokines". So I searched youtube for psoriasis and cytokine and got this page. I'm still not sure what cytokines are but I think the video said Tc1 and Tc17 are cytokines and so the fungal infection is creating superantigens causing massive amounts of Tc1 and Tc17 cytokines I guess.
I've also found people using L-glutamine almost cure their psoriasis and started taking it myself. I'm hoping I don't have HIV and just have a leaky gut that L-glutamine helps fix. I'm really trying to fight the fungus but it seems impossible. Lowering carb intake reduces discharge to almost nothing but the groin fungal rash and nail fungus never really goes away. I did have about 3 medium to large, 1" to 3" circles of psoriasis patches totally heal. I'm not sure of the exact reason but it seemed to have stopped healing since I started eating carbs again. I still have my whole lower back and one shin and calve covered and several spots on one thigh and scalp and ears.
I've never been to a doctor so obviously everyone will say duh go to a doctor but when you read there's no cure then what's the point. I should point out I lost 60lbs last year and removed carbs from diet. I walk or pace in house an hour or two per day. I'm trying to maintain 230lbs now but gaining slowly. I hope I can cut carbs again soon. But I think the weight loss caused a sciatic nerve problem. It feels like a nerve caught in a hinge. I eventually tried Aleve and it took the pain away but comes back in a day or two. Obviously there's inflammation being reduced with the drug and relief from it. I wonder if it also affects skin inflammation and if it cured some patches. I doubt it but thought I should mention it. I'm trying to take as little Aleve as possible. Maybe 1 or 2 a week at most. I don't want to damage my liver or my gut with it but the back pain gets super bad after walking for hours a day for several days and maybe sitting badly sometimes.
I also rarely go outside, so I'm taking vitamin D extra strength 2500 UI, collagen with vitamin D 500 UI, and vitamin C to help immune system and make gut more acidic to kill fungus in gut. Took two probiotics also but stopped. Acidophilus was supposed to be acid producing to counter fungal alkaline production and Saccharomyces Boulardii said it had antifungal properties but bottle says use to prevent diarrhea and made me super constipated so bad I'm scared to keep taking it. Also a multivitamin sometimes or a b12 sometimes or a omega 3/6/9 sometimes.
Anyways, just sharing my story and information maybe it helps someone at least.

Hello thank you for the wonderful lecture. I have a dying question. Do you think an NRF2 activator such as sulforaphane which has been shown to inhibit NFKB be able to lower or even prevent the inflammatory cascade?

I would have to do more research. NFkB is a known inflammatory pathway but it has a lot of signaling redundancies. What may work in vitro or ex vivo, may not provide adequate long term clinical response either because of safety or efficacy. But it is an area of active research and should continue to be explored: thank you for asking!

They are activated in allergic or atopic responses. I explain a bit more in this video: th-cam.com/video/JdIwyh_9CpQ/w-d-xo.html
