Finally hugely impressed of dedication to the cause to fly all the way to the USA in order to be able to fly back overnight and be one of the first arrivals to be able to make first use of the service. Much more adventurous than those Londoners who got up at the crack of dawn to queue 😊😊😊

      💯💯💯.
We, the people of London need to show our respect and appreciation for the efforts shown for the timing, jet lag, dedication and useful content. 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Anything could've gone wrong, from delayed flights ✈️ from NYC etc, to the false alarm at Paddington.
Whilst I hate using Heathrow Airport coming from the South of London, the EL has provided an alternative option to driving/taking a cab. The video has helped to promote the ease of use from T5 to central London and beyond. 🙂👍

@@carloandreaguilar5916 I grew up in the 70s when the underground consisted of filthy, noisy cramped tunnels stinking of cigarette smoke. The trains were like being inside a washing machine. Now you descend into a giant hall the size of a cathedral; the train slides into the station in silence; doors glide open soundlessly; you get aboard the train and it smoothly departs so you can hardly notice its moving.

I travelled on the EL for the first time today and was impressed by the new rolling stock but mostly by the new stations. They are spartan and utilitarian yet also warm and welcoming. I'm very happy that my journey to work from now on will include a stretch on the EL. BTW surely you missed the opportunity to compare the EL with the subway in NY... the EL might have cost £18 billion but they can't have spent much more than eighteen dollars on the NY network. It's like a ride in a Joker theme park. Anyway, nice video.

The western section can get very crowded during peak times so the Hesthrow Express can be essential. It is a busy commuter stopping service to which was added Heathrow.
Sometimes services to and from Paddington are considerably disrupted so it is best to check each time one travels. Paddington services occasionally have points failures, signal failures and damage to overhead line equipment that can take hours to resolve. Although this is rare, it could happen when you are travelling. Allow lots of extra time and if nothing is running take a taxi.
At present there are only two trains per hour to Heathrow on the Liz Line. If one is cancelled there will be a long wait and in the peak it could get very crammed. It is good when it's good though.

Nice video illustration, from your arrival at LHR terminal 5 into central London 👍.
The EL construction, bares some similarities to NYC's "2nd Avenue Tunnel."
Both developments have been in the pipe lines since the 1970's, the costs are similar and future developments are rolled out in phases, subject to funding.
I'm glad you mentioned that Tottenham Court Road is the most central part of London, because if Crossrail 2 does get the official go ahead, Tottenham Court Road will be the only station running directly from North London to South London that also runs from East London to West London and beyond the suburbs.
This will mean that Tottenham Court Road would unofficially be known as "Tottenham Cross Road," for its interchange, meeting points and increased passenger capacity inevitably making it one of the busiest stations in London!

Not "finally finished" yet. The bits at Paddington and Liverpool Street still need to be joined up, then you won't have the change of trains at Paddington covered here, and Bond Street is not open yet, but it is certainly a major milestone in the project.

The Paddington changeover is temporary, thank God.
From autumn 2022, the lines from Reading, Heathrow and Shenfield will connect with the central tunnels. This means:
    customers from Reading and Heathrow will be able to travel east all the way to Abbey Wood without changing at Paddington;
customers from Shenfield can travel west all the way to Paddington without changing at Liverpool Street.

We landed in Terminal 5 LHR and we couldn't locate the new line today, so we just ended up taking the Piccadilly Line. They need to link both stations or create better signage because we were under the impression that both the Elizabeth Line and Piccadilly Line stopped at the exact same station in Terminal 5.
