  • This is the fifth part of "Lorcan Film Unit" (also know as the Crowe family) piece of Raheny Village.
In this piece Leslie starts at the rockery and Watermill Lane and Bull Island. We then go to St Anne's Park and see the park the way it was.
Once again firefighter and historian by all accounts Mr Leslie Crowe has captured some great footage of the Village of Raheny. With the music accompaniment from Leslie's son Noel we are once again transported to a different time and place.
We would like to add a special acknowledgement to Kate, who is now providing the closed captions to her grandfathers work. It's great to see that some one who was born 20 years after her grandfathers passing is able to keep the family involvement that has always been the corner stone of Leslie Crowe's "Lorcan Film Unit" alive.
There is more of this to come and it is great to see that this is being passed on to anyone that is interested around the world. So if you know any of the people in the videos please email. Hope you enjoy

Myself and some schoolmates used to "go on the bounce" in this old mansion. We had one room with a large fireplace cleared and we'd spend the entire day there, snug and warm and out of sight from everyone. Sometimes we'd use the boathouse, but that would be during the summer. I think I may have known almost every tree in that splendid estate. Years later I was to return to the grounds to practice my golf drive.

Glad you like it. It must have been some house in its day.

Raheny has changed a lot from those days. The mansion in Saint Annes was indicative of how wealthy the so called Landed Gentry were by comparison with the village people.

I'd love to see this video a bit more clearly as I think the man in the middle sitting at the cross is my grandfather . The house where he lived also featured
