Totally disagree with all of you. What's Merlier supposed to do look behind him? If you want to win that sprint, get up further sooner. Lame decision. Now every cry baby that loses a sprint will be complaining about "too much deviation from the line".
@@tysonkampbjj Merlier was acutely aware that his teammate was on his left (so riders would take longer to go round that way) then he massively deviates from his line when he has absolutely NO ONE in front of him. He knows riders will come from the right so tactically shuts the door on them. It's so obvious. Not sure why you can't see that. No wonder he got relegated.

The rule says you must stay in the same lane once you've launched your sprint.
He obviously deviated, going from the middle of the road to the right hand barrier, hindering Molano in the process.
Don't want to get relegated? Follow the rules and don't hinder/endanger the riders around you
