Idk if this is a hot take but hip hop deserves better when it comes to the nominations for the aoty category instead of just only being nominated on the rap album category, 90% of the slections for aoty are from pop artists that release mediocare project and they only got nominated because of their well recognized names from the mainstream audience and they only nominated one rap album from a big well known artist. And that annoys me because majority of the best albums (quality wise) recently have come from the hip hop genre (no disrespect to the other music genres)
Yeah that’s so true, especially with this years album of the year noms, it’s Harry styles, bad bunny, Beyoncé, Adele, etc who are all huge but there albums are most likely mid with huge hits but then you have Kendrick Lamar which everyone wants to win because they know he had the best album but knowing the Grammys they snub him.

The major categories in the grammys have never really appreciated rap music like that. If i'm not wrong, this is america was actually the first, and currently only rap song to win a grammy for song of the year. TPAB literally lost to 1989 for album of the year back in 2015. They'll usually nominate one rap album in the main category just to act like they give a shit about rap but it will lose to some really big pop album or the latest taylor swift record that year.

The Juice WRLD take isn't that bad. He fresstyled his entire Album "Death Race for Love" and there were impressive freestyles in songs like "feelings". He's definetly one of the best of our generation and still don't get the credit he deserves outside the rap game. He gets the credit inside the rap game but outside not.
Juice is my favourite artist but hes not best freestyler ever like tht comment said. I agree if u say best of our generation maybe but not of all time. Also y would he get credit for freestyling outside of rap game? Its not like rock listeners are going to be talking bout how great Juice was at freestyling.

The soundcloud era was so special to me because its when I got introduced to music, back when I didn’t have to dissect every line or analyse the whole song and how it plays out int the sequencing or all that shit. It was just pure emotion and how every song made me feel whether it was aiding me in amplifying my current mood or changing it entirely. I grew bonds with artists just from that era especially X, ski and trippie redd cause of their relationship together, their personalities alone and their incredible sounds. Even artists like lil pump and smokepurpp, they had an amazing relationship and they made mega bangers throughout the years that I just loved. The soundcloud era was the last amazing stretch hiphop saw in a while for me. Ended in 2018

Hot and or Cold take: I have 21 and uzi interchangeable. Both are great artists and all but I will say this, it has been 21> uzi since 2020. But I hope The Pink Tape is great.

I think yeat , it takes time for him to grow on you he’s a very smart man, his production is amazing but I wouldn’t say it carries him but I do think it helps , Yeat my sound mumbled but I think cuz yeat is trying to go for more fast paced music , his voice is kinda part of the production as well.

It’s cuz y’all are a little older, I’m 16 and I see so many people with Tyler merch at my school. The take is still terrible but there are lots of kids my age who think they’re quirky and find Tyler relatable lol (I like Tyler too I’m not hating)

Take 3 (Phineas and Ferb > Yb) - Disagree.
Take 4 (Vamp anthem = top 5 Carti) - Disagree.
Take 5 (Juice WRLD = Top 5 freestyler) - Disagree but in this era, it’s hard to tell what’s pre-written and what’s off the top).
Take 6 (Coi Leray = slept on) - A lil overhated but nah.
Take 7 (Mr. Morale > GKMC) - GKMC is a lil overrated to me but still it’s better than Mr. Morale pretty easily.
Take 8 (Soundcloud era is overrated) - Not really but sometimes it gets a lil too much praise.
Take 9 (Prime Pump > Yeat) - Agreed. Yeat got like 1 or 2 songs I like and I rather listen to the instrumental alone than with the vocals. Not a fan of either but lil pump got more enjoyable songs some of Yeat’s songs are too chaotic and repetitive.

My favourite review from Anthony Fantano is his Lil Pump review where he gave it a 7. It’s so deserved. Lil Pump’s self titled is incredibly underrated and Yeat will never make anything that iconic. Yes it was antics driven but that’s literally the point of the music

Drake has a great discography but 30% of his albums are duds & even his great albums have at least 3-4 tracks of just filler.
