- Daniel Wozniak was a community theatre actor, had an upcoming wedding to Rachel Buffet, and was good friends with Sam Herr. However, when a body is discovered in Sam Herr's apartment, and Sam is nowhere to be found, the manhunt begins. Eventually it'd come back to Daniel Wozniak, and what Daniel Wozniak did when he learned Sam Herr had a nice chunk of change in his bank account.

Yeah the actual difficulty of proving insanity is ... really difficult. Anything like Onision's fake psychotic episodes and terrible Joker impression or even just coming right out the gate like "I'm insane! That's why I did it I am insane!" they'll just turn around and use the fact that you had the idea to fake insanity as evidence that you are not in fact insane, because you had the rational idea to act insane. If that makes sense. So how do you prove insanity? Show, don't tell. Basically. Go in there and subtly start playing with your own shit or like be the guy who befriends a cockroach then eats it a few days later and say "He started it!" or something.

@@rtwice93555 Exactly. What they want to hear is that the dispatcher has realised the gravity of the situation and has help on the way. Once that is established, then ask more questions to keep them on the line. Granted they have to make sure it's not a prank call but they seem too casual and are too slow to communicate what they're doing at their end. I agree the person isn't in the frame of mind to answer dumb questions

In the audio from that phone call it seems like she genuinely didn’t know what he’d done and she seemed ready to bail on him immediately and tell the cops what she found out from his brother - it seems weird that she got almost 3 years, but the brother, who was actually involved after the fact and had been told what happened but didn’t go to the cops with that info only got 10 days.

I've heard about this case a lot, and it still makes me so unbelievably mad that Julie was murdered in this case. Obviously Sam did absolutely nothing to deserve his death, but Julie wasn't connected in the slightest to Daniel's and Rachel's plan. She was a completely innocent and disconnected party. It was so senseless and evil to murder her, simply to add to their misdirection.
No, it was so D.Woz could rape her corpse because he'd seen her around and was jealous that she was prettier than his dingbat "fiance". If he was going to murder Sam and take his money he was also going to take his girl too. Dan is just a piece of trash. I bet he just keeps thinking about what he could've done differently to not get caught, rather than being mature enough to realize that his whole perception of the world and where he fits into it was wrong the whole time.
It added another layer of evil, she was someone Dan used to cover his tracks. The fact that he exploited Julie and Sam’s friendship makes me mad.

I’m a psychiatric nurse and I’ve nursed many people who try to pull this and it’s so easy to distinguish them from people who are actually unwell. Pisses me off they try and imitate people who have serious mental health illnesses, off to prison you go buh bye.
Just a heads up but insane people don't tell their spouses to lie for them and try to be coy and cunning by thinking about their actions and worrying about an outcome. A truly insane person fesses up to their actions with complete lack of care for consequences or thought of what comes later. Everything is in the now. Tomorrow is irrelevant and won't be relevant...until tomorrow.

Sam's dad Steven is one of the most amazing people I have ever seen in one of these horrible cases. He has been a strong voice for his son. His pain is visible when you see him talk about his son. No one should ever have to go through this hell.
Not only that, but also just an honestly good person who called 911 when he found a body, regardless of knowing whether or not his son was involved.

I attended both trials. Rachel knew. She is an evil POS jus like Dan, but just smart enough to throw him under the bus. She knew they were both broke and had been unemployed for over a year. She still planned a $60,000 wedding the weekend after the killings, and was with Dan the entire time surrounding the murders. She lied to police to help Wozniak cover up, claiming there was a third guy with a black hat with Sam and Dan the day of Sam’s murder. There was no black hat guy.
I don't agree with the death penalty however, as soon as I literally heard Musical Theatre I knew it was the only option

I’ve worked in live theatre for a realllly long time and no actor would ever say that about themselves. So congratulations your future career lies in your other strengths and skills, which you’ll be more successful at, in just about ANY other field outside of performing arts, for having a theatre background. I mean that genuinely. Working in drama teaches you more about being a team and collaboration with all kinds of other personalities more than any other profession. I’ve seen more tight knit crews and casts on a show than any unit of military precision.
Imagine serving your country, surviving some of the most brutal years of the war to be killed by this P.O.S. back at home.
