I've been hoping for a documentary from you guys for years know. Finally, as a filmmaker, I get to see my favorite band and filmmaking put together. I'm ecstatic. Thank you guys.
I have been listening to metal for almost 30 years, and I am happy to see the direction of one of the branches into melodic death. Today I can honestly say that Insomnium is my favourite band. I love their melodies and the passion they have driven into their work. Well done guys!! I don't know how you do it but please keep on doing it that way, because it works.
Thanks for this video. It's nice to know someone is doing this for the band. I wasn't aware of the the album the scarred people until you brought it up. I have something to check out that will be be new for me. I too discovered them in high school and they just kept growing on me.
Agreed. If you get a decent set of speakers you'll realize that the mixing jobs on their older albums are pretty bad. I hope they do some type of remaster on at least one of their albums some day.
Insomnium makes so good music, its special and different than other bands. The lyrics are poms them self and i enjoy reading the lyrics just as much i as i love hearing them. I wish they could have been promoted or shared more because they deserve respect, and the places in music industry that many of the pop and R&B artists.
Interesting insight into their creative process and the challenge of practicing and recording when living on different continents. Glad I'm a fan and have contributed some small amount to Insomnium's success by buying their music.
I respect and admire you guys who choose to continue to make your music for the sake of the music and I feel for yourselves rather than for monetary purposes.
Who else does think that Insomnium has been more heavenly after Markus Vanhala joined the band?? This guy is totally a guitar magician, for his guitar solos I've become a fan of Omnium Gatherum. And he did his best tasks in the Shadows of the Dying Sun.Insomnium is a band which can't be compared with anything and I've seen no one disliking this band.Insomnium for life!
I love all of Markus Vanhalla's work. He has a very distinct sound and style of playing. That being said, Insomnium PRE Vanhalla was also fucking flawless. In some cases, even better.
IMO Vanhala brought the last missing piece (the solos + the mood). For Heart Like a Grave he wrote more than half the record including gems like the s/t track and most importantly Pale Morning Star. That being said, I really hope Ville returns as a songwriter with more than 1 song on the next record.
Amazing music ! How Insomnium combine melody, feeling and then pure Heavy Metal riffs into their songs astounds me ! They have constantly improved and developed into certainly the most underrated of bands. I urge anyone who listens to Insomnium to spread the word and let others know what they are missing. What these guys produce is beyond music, it's true Heavy Metal Perfection. And they can pull it off live also. I'm as proud as the other fans on here to listen to them, and I feel privileged \m/
I don't know how someone could expect new album when it was said that it is going to be released in begining of 2014. This documentary is really interesting and I'm looking forward for next episode :)
I'm listening this band since the first album, and I'm happy for them to see the way that they are growing up. My fav album is above the weeping world and I Really don't felt the same thing for the next two album. I hope the next one will have a better atmosphere, something very singular, in my opinion
Above the Weeping World will always be an album close to my heart. I feel a very real pain and ache with each song. It will always be my favourite album by Insomnium.
I love these guys. I wish they can come in Athens again because the last time it cancelled because one member of the band had to stay close to his family.....INSOMNIUM is teh best band !
Very excited to watch more, this is a great insight into their methods. Now I wonder if their live performance style (serious, very little talking, etc.) comes from their need to be finely tuned pre-studio or the lyrics and subjects of the songs.
Like the others, I think that the documentary is very interesting. It give us the possibility to meet at Insomnium from another point of view. I am so happy to know that you, also of create good music, you are so good persons. I share the same opinion with all you say in the video. By the way, Mr. Niilo looks so smart with glasses. He really looks like a poet or teacher xD.
Come to Israel please !!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are beyond amazing. One of few bands I can listen to over and over and over and over and over and over and enjoy it just as much as the time I enjoyed it most.
See you in Gothenburg on the 26 of September! :D Can't wait to see you for the second time this year, I went all the way to Nummirock just to see you because your tour didn't stop here in Sweden. So good thing that you travel with CoB so I get another chance to see you live! :D
The documentary is a great Idea! Looking forward to watch more of it. :) Find it a quite funny coincidence that Ville F. does also work in the lab. But I'm more into biochemistry though. Nevertheless I'm working with mammalian and human cells right now. :)
Before I say anything further, I should mention I love the band (my 2nd-favorite currently). However, I think this documentary came at the wrong time. One for Sorrow was acclaimed, yes, but it was not a huge commercial success. THAT would have been a better reason to make a documentary. I'm not opposed to the idea of making one short video that gives an overview of the writing process from the band's perspective, but this seems like too much.
I am confident in saying that Insomnium is, and always will be, my favourite band.
the best band in the world.

I'd pay an unhealthy amount of money to see this album remastered (and I'm not the only one).
Agreed. If you get a decent set of speakers you'll realize that the mixing jobs on their older albums are pretty bad. I hope they do some type of remaster on at least one of their albums some day.
They make really beautiful music. I love these guys.

Hey Im from Greece, They are the best, yes.😎
Very excited to watch more, this is a great insight into their methods. Now I wonder if their live performance style (serious, very little talking, etc.) comes from their need to be finely tuned pre-studio or the lyrics and subjects of the songs.
Would love to get into a discussion about bacteriophages with Mr. Ville and find out more about his research! These guys are the best at what they do.
I love this guys
I love this band so much. So beautiful, amazing♥

What's the song at 4:58?
Dusty Mug "Song of The Blackest Bird"
my boys
Wish I could find more of that weird folky acoustic stuff that is at the beginning of this doc and many of their songs
Not sure it's a relevant pick but you can try a Finnish band called Nest.
INSOMNIUM TO MY HEART!!

Where to get this version of The Emergence?? Please, heeelp!!!
They're Finnish, it comes with the territory.

Sounds like a very inorganic and "unromantic" way to be productive in a band. Little room for spontaneity and cocreation.
The results speak for themselves though, Their music is excellent despite the limits distance places on them.
Upon Death's Palm.

Russell Crowe + long hair = Niilo
