Haven’t seen it in any of the episodes I’ve watched so far, but I have seen him accidentally drop Ratty into the drain after he was all done clearing it and he had to use that harpoon-looking thing to get him out.
Do roots come through a break in the pipe or do they break the pipe pushing their way in? You need to teach Ratty how to do some of the physical labor, not just to sit by and get dusty. 💚💚
Both, the clay pipes are flawed because you have to use short sections which means more joins. Thats what they did before plastic ones. The clay pipes have a rubber sleeve in the joins but over time the rubber perishes then the roots find their way in. Tree Roots on the outside can also lift the pipe and damage it. Roots can crack a concrete driveway or road. The clay pipes can get broken by landscapers or owners if they are not deep enough. Plastic pipes are better, less joins and they are glued together, they can also flex.
How did Ratty get so dirty? He was barely recognizable. I also liked how Jane was explaining why the wife was not more understanding of the work you do - good one. Do you ever wonder what people are thinking when you tell them about Ratty and how he likes corn? Another entertaining drain cleaning; keep them coming!

You can just cut a piece out of the pipe and use a rubber coupling with clamps. It shows them in some of the videos here.
