18 years old here, this was my first ever show alone. Can't even describe the incredible emotions I felt. Definitely one of the best moments of my entire life.
You are me... 21 years ago when I saw Radiohead for the first time during the Kid A / Amnesiac tour in Montréal. Mindblowing! Still to date the best show I've ever seen!
I can feel that, when I was like 14 my parents took the whole fam to see the almond brothers band. This was before the psychedelic musical revolution of the 2010’s so there was basically an empty show arena with one lone hippie dancing in the middle of thousands of empty seats to the biggest f*ing light show/jam sesh. Something came over me which compelled me to leave my family where they were sitting and join in on the hippie’s strange dance that they were doing 🪩 💃🏼 🕺🏻 That’s when it happened, I entered “the trance” and all at once I understood. We were both rocking out in a lost pocket of time with the best seats in the house and I suddenly found myself surrounded by a sold out audience… And for a split second in time I got a sweet taste of the hype ✌🏽🫠🐝💕☁️🌈🤦🏽♀️
Thanks for sharing. Brings back the memories of my first Radiohead show. During a magical sunset. Also my first ever show alone. It was like being in a real life dream.
2nd half is very Cuttooth-esque. What an incredible song, maybe my favorite of all their songs so far. These guys are on a tear playing all these new tunes!
Incredible. This and Bending Hectic all in a span of a week. And we get to be witnesses in real time. This sounds to me like a loose, jazzy These Are My Twisted Words.
The question has to be, what comes next? Another Smile record? Will there ever be another Radiohead record? How long has it been since the days of Thom writing songs and performing them live right away, and years before they appear on a record? He looks like he's having so much fun.
I’ll answer those two questions real quick - I believe Thom said there will be a 2nd album from The Smile. All of these songs being debuted are likely going to be on that album. I’m guessing it might even release next year. - There will be another Radiohead album eventually, but unfortunately it may be a couple years. Ed is currently in a 3-album contract with his record label, and until he releases 3 albums, he likely won’t be able to play in Radiohead. I’m guessing this might actually be the reason The Smile was formed in the first place, because they didn’t want to perform as Radiohead without Ed being there. After all, the idea for The Smile came about in 2020, which is a little after Ed started releasing his own music
@@BaronKube That's right, just to clarify that it's not only because of Ed, but also because of Phil, he has his solo project planned for a long time, which is unknown when it will be released, maybe very soon. And I don't think Ed can't participate in a Radiohead album if he has a contract for 3 albums. I think he is almost ready for one of them, but he can release the other 2 later, not necessarily in a row.
Brilliant indeed. But it is time Thom & Jonny finally acknowledge their blatant prog influences (Yes, Soft Machine and Genesis in particular), rather than blah blah Neil Young blah blah... 🤔😇 Oh, and a bit of Can too.

Another 7min plus song wow. LP2 will be long 😅. For Bending Hectic the length made sense IMO, here not really. Could be 4min or sth (great song though)
@@sebastiancamacho6224 also the songs are written literally on the spot and instrumentation might be vastly different on the studio mix for the 2nd album as that was the case for quite a few songs on the debut .

2nd half has strong vibes from The Doors, The End. And it's amazing. The Smile is a gift that keeps on giving.
I saw them last night in Chesterfield, MO and this is probably my favorite new one they played

I think the guitar is similar, but as the long progresses it definitely has a different feel

It sounds that because it's live versions, on the recording you will notice the mixing changes, instrument diversity etc
