Thank you for watching the video. I created this work thinking about my beloved cat who I have lived with for 19 years. I entrusted my deep sorrow to a large elephant. I want to see her again.

Beautiful and heartfelt work. There is something about the way the light shines from the face of the elephant that evokes the sorrow in a way that i feel, but find difficult to put into words. That is what art is meant for.
    Keep up the good work!

After the death of my beloved cat that I spent 19 years with, I spent days thinking about what I could do as an artist who paints life.
This work may not have been the one I would show you in front of you, but I drew it from my current state of mind.
      This work is poor.
By drawing this picture, I feel like I can take a step forward.
Thank you for watching and for your kind comments.

@@miki.morohoshi I agree with you that from merely a technical point of view this piece is not up to the standard of some of your other ones. Primarily from what I can see the problem lies in the proportions of the elephant which are not realistic from a naturalistic point of view. However, I still consider this work to be a success because it makes me feel sad in a way I cannot necessarily explain. It is more than the tear in the eye of the elephant that tells me that I should feel sad. It is almost like the work contains a piece of you. That I am actually feeling your sadness.
Van Gogh is an artist that is not known for his technical prowess. I had never liked his paintings and thought they were so overrated. I will never forget the day I saw one of his works in a museum in Cardiff. It was made by him about 3 weeks before he died (many believe he committed suicide). It was a field and some crows flying around above it as the rain fell down. That was it.... And yet there was something so very sad about it. I could not explain it. It made me feel his anguish and pain. Like he had actually left a piece of himself in the work. It was this experience and this alone which led me to believe that it is possible for ghosts to exist. But ghosts in the way that Lord Dunsany would call them. Something like the psychic residue of a persons existence that is left in something which they possessed or created. I have yet to experience Mark Rothko's work in person but I suspect that this would be something of the inexplicable power that his work's have in spite of the fact that on the surface they seem devoid of technique.
Anyways what I am trying to say is (and this is a principle of artmaking which is as old as art itself and was indeed the metaphysical underpinning behind the obsession of the greeks, egyptians, and many other traditional cultures with creating canons of perfect proportion) that if one can create a work of art which is capable of actually "capturing" or "containing" the pure truth which it was meant to simulate (like in your case, the essence of the emotional state that you were in when you made the work of art) then that work of art is a great success. See the Ascelpius of Hermes about the ensoulment of statues for a greater understanding of what I am referring to.
By the way I am very sorry about your loss. But I believe that if you are capable of channeling it into your art then the spirit of your beloved cat will live on forever.

I agree with Van Gogh's story.
I think that life in Arles was so pure that it was misunderstood by outlandish behavior.
I think he was actually a kind-hearted person. I hope to be like Van Gogh someday.
The deceased cat has been cremated and is in our house.
The pencil sketch that appears at the end of the video was put in the furnace together and let my cat hold it.
I still can't forget the shape of the skull at that time, as if it tightens my heart.
I think that perhaps because of the afterimage, I added color to the elephant without adding color, only the tears.
Nobuaki Tamaki, the videographer who produces my TH-cam, was in tears and stopped filming. Left me alone at the end of the production.
It was just me and the cat who drew the elephant. I don't have footage of the last tears, but I'm grateful.
You can't see it in the image or from a distance, but I put a little light blue in the tear area.
If you look closely, you can see it faintly. This is my own tears.
I am an inexperienced painter. But I was glad that he understood my feelings.
Without this work, I could not move forward.

@@miki.morohoshi Thank you so much for giving some context about the story behind this piece and all the work (both inner and outer) that was put into it. Its really beautiful to hear and even made me a little emotional. I'm so glad the art could help you move foreward.
I wish you all the love and all the power,

Thank you for sharing. On November 16th, I went to the National Art Center, Roppongi, Tokyo to see the ongoing Nitten exhibit, Nagu. Seeing the many viewers, I felt like drawing a new picture again. I will continue to do my best as a Japanese painter who draws life. I feel blessed by your kind comments.
