  • I'm picking up my brand new 2022 Honda Grom SP and riding it back over 100 miles back home. I've actually never ridden a Honda Grom before, and I'm curious how it'll perform over the 100 miles. Along the way, we test the grom against various roads and I was surprised how the grom held up.
Also, big shout out to my friend Tim for being wingman on this grip. Check out his channel here: / nevermoremoto

I ride gravel roads on my Grom daily, and that is the best thing about this bike for me. You can slide all over the road and still feel confident about keeping the bike up. Also if you damage a body panel? Thats easy and cheap to replace. Of all my bikes my Grom is my favorite bike, because it reminds me of why I started riding bikes to begin with, for fun.

It's surprising how much I'm really enjoying the grom, and like you said there's no stress with it. It's such an easy, cheap bike to maintain and that's the key thing. With no stress, it just completely allows you to go out there and have fun with it instead of worrying about damaging something on a more expensive bike.

This is cool. Been contemplating getting a grom recently and watching a lot of youtube videos on them. Was watching this video and when you got to the back roads I thought hey this looks exactly like Maryland (where I live), to the point I even thought I recognized some of the roads. Don't think I actually did as I live in North Eastern MD but it is really cool to see someone making content on the grom that really is so close to what my experience would be like.

Best mod to do it a T14 front sprocket and a better chain adjuster.
Had a 2014, sold it to buy a 2017 FZ09, big mistake. Missed the little bike too much so I sold the FZ09 to buy a 2019 Honda CB300R.
Last October I crashed into a deer at 90kmh, the little CB was scrapped. So guess what I'm getting next 🤣 yep, a new Grom.
That's the problem with the little Minimoto, once you ride one you can't go without it.

I rode a Grom and a Monkey. They were the slowest bikes I have ever ridden! It is the only motorcycle I have ridden where you turn the throttle and NOTHING happens! They remind me of those go carts that you rent and race on the track. They are governed I think for about 10mph and when you push the gas pedal it takes them about 5 minutes to think about moving. IMO, the Grom and Monkey are ok around the neighborhood or on country rural roads, but I wouldn't feel comfortable taking them on any highways or major roads where the speed limit is over 40mph. If you tried to merge in front of a car or a truck, you are going to be road kill! Forget highways! Why buy a 9hp motorcycle and soup it up to 15hp when you can just get a 300cc and have 35hp for a little bit more? They are are for pussies and kids that are afraid of a real motorcycle. I had a Honda 300 CBRR that I sold because it was too slow to stay with traffic, and it was over stressed on the highway because you are running near redline all the time. They are unsafe IMO in most situations because you can't avoid accidents because of insufficient acceleration.

I've had over 20 motorcycles since I was 10 years old. Everything from mini bikes, motocross, 3 Cylinder two strokes, KZ900s, 1,000, 1100s, GPZs, & a Yamaha YZ1 you name it and I've had a lot of them but after get getting hit head on and thrown 156 ft at 70 mph. I didn't ride for almost 10 years and finally I decided to try a Grom at 67 years old and love it. It's a lot of fun. Nothing boring about it whatsoever. Did a few cheap mods with the intake and exhaust and the fuel mapping and it goes about 70 mph now but it's not about speed. These things are just a super a lot of fun to just cruise all over the place.
