I actually find this method of shading the artist used very clever. Select the area where the shadows appear, then use the gradient tool within the selection to create shadows! It is still the traditional cell shading used in anime, but the gradient effect just makes the shadows look much more detailed! I think I may try that in my next digital drawing!
s/he is using a drawing soft "Clip Paint Studio Pro", and a painting tool is photoshop. s/he switches these soft by purposes. coz i'm a japanese, my english must be poor, sorry.
Yes, stupid name I know. They are both one and the same in Japan it's released under the title Clip Studio and in America It's called Manga Studio 5EX. Just like in Japan, the old Manga studio version was called Comic Studio in Japan and in the US it 's called Manga Studio. It's really both countries trying to be trendy with exchanging foreign tongues but it's silly. Celsys the maker of the software also has high end animation programs as well.
Feryan Elvareza The program used for this drawing is Paint Tool SAI. It's a really nice program to use versus Photoshop, and cheaper. But it appears they are also using Photoshop, and Manga Studio as well.
Wacom's pen tablets are able to control the pressure an artist puts on his pen when writing the strength of a brushstroke. And unlike ipad stylus, there are so many types of styluses. (which we can't use on iPad, because of the system they have.)
well, they are professionals so we can't do much about this... there is the intuos5 but you'll be sacrificing the eyes-on-paper feel that all of us artist are so used to.... still, its cheaper than the cintiq 24hd
Even though this song is on literally all of their Live Painting videos, I can't help but find myself bobbing my head to the beat. It's so happy and annoying that I can't help but give in.
do you mean by normal mouth with no cut in the center? well a lot there are anime that have cut in the mouth in the scene and then the cut desapear it's all about how the characters look and about the anime.. every anime
Even if you are professional you don't need a cintiq, it's just a matter of comfort, since it's like a dream to digital artists to be able to actually paint on the screen. I myself use an intuos5 to work, since here in Brazil the cintiq 22HD is R$8000,00, equivalent to $4000,00...
Well I don't know what the deal is with Cintiq, but I'm getting a wacom tablet, soon :) and I can't wait to draw on it! I love watching these videos. Just goes to show, if you put years into drawing, there ya go. You can do it. Practice makes perfect..
People who come from traditional art, acrylic and canvas or just simple pencil and paper, will find that using the Cintiq is much easier than an ordinary graphics tablet due to the tedious hand-eye coordination sequence. You could just settle for an Intuos if you really wish to move from traditional to digital but of course, they all wish they could get a Cintiq. Also this dude is awesome.
wow...this dude is like a freaking pro while colouring...I didn't knw that you can colour so fast like that using pentools and selection area. Awesome! I learnt a new skill :3
What you're sayign is actually true. I'm an intermidiate digital artist, and I don't even have a Cintiq. I actually have an Intuos3 (which most artists my level and some/most upper level artists use.)
That's /exactly/ why I want a cintiq, it's tough for me to look back at my tablet and back at my computer monitor, makes things easier ya know? I wish I had the money for it, then I would buy one...
Every time I compare my art to professional manga or anime I always thought to my self; no matter how hard I tried to improve my skills, I'm always going to end up failing.
I bought a Cintiq after watching many of this videos and I'm NOT dissapointed! It's a lot better than my old Bamboo! But it's true that it doesn't make you draw any better that you would on a paper, it just gives you a more comfortable feeling while drawing because you look directly on the tablet instead of looking at your monitor.
wow. that was amazing! I wonder if I could have gotten to that stage if I had sticked to painting myself!. Will never know, as Ive stoped painting all together. Ah well!
can anyone explain how to color properly in clip studio? (around 6:30) like layering for things... hmm I can't really figure a way doing it in a neat way.
What's the software used to create this drawings? I just got my Bamboo Pen&Touch a couple days ago and been PaintTool SAI for a while but am not used to the interface. This software looks more like PS so I think I'll be able to get familiar with it quicker
Why not just get an Ipad? Somehow convert Paint Tool Sai into an app or if one is available download. Get a stylus. It's kinda the same thing isn't it?
Would love to have it, but read some bad reviews about it. Not compatible with Windows 8.1, and it lags pretty bad with a large workload. Would love it for just hobby work, but the price is too high to do that. There are more important things.
Why do people keep complaining about PS? Is it no less a tool than Paint Tool Sai, or Manga Studio, or even a Cintiq when you get down to it? Fact is if you were only looking at the finished artwork you wouldn't know what they used at all. An artist uses the best tools for the particular job as they see fit. That's one of the things that separates the pros from the rest.
I don't need one, I just WANT one. I'm no professional yet, I've been drawing for 3 years, and I'm pretty darn good. I'm going to become a graphic novelist. Paint Tool SAI, and I use a Bamboo CAPTURE. I have along way to go.
Ixy

This is amazing and those eyes!
I think the way he draws eyes now is a lot better! I love ixy’s art style
I know that feel, But I bet if you look back at what you where doing a year ago you would be able to see that you are improving.

yeah.. and considering how big the 24hd is... a 30" would have to be a full size table that can stand on it's own =P
14:35 has the song title in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
Thumbs up this comment so others can be sure to see it!

the first program is neither SAI nor photoshop... i guess its some japanese software. The second software is definitly photoshop cs6
well, they are professionals so we can't do much about this... there is the intuos5 but you'll be sacrificing the eyes-on-paper feel that all of us artist are so used to.... still, its cheaper than the cintiq 24hd
I realized I've started enjoying the BGM just as much...
I was looking into buying the Cintiq 24HD touch and then I saw how much it was.
I think seeing that price made my whole house topple over!
Even though this song is on literally all of their Live Painting videos, I can't help but find myself bobbing my head to the beat. It's so happy and annoying that I can't help but give in.
I have learned so much by watching all these live paintings! Thank you Wacom!
No dude.
Its Clip Paint Studio.
and the second one is Adobe Photoshop CS6.
I like the

but not all anime mouth are like that
kikyo hinamora really? what anime has normal mouths ?
do you mean by normal mouth with no cut in the center?

Am i the only one who's still amazed by how the eye suddenly come to life after adding highlights, despite watching many speedpaint videos?
Yes, in the title. The name is Ixy.
Well I don't know what the deal is with Cintiq, but I'm getting a wacom tablet, soon :)
and I can't wait to draw on it! I love watching these videos. Just goes to show, if you put years into drawing, there ya go. You can do it.
Practice makes perfect..

its about 2,475 dollars
i'm so thinking of buying the cintiq 24HD . me wants.

you can see the blue photoshop symbol in the top left

Dat Skills... so impressive.
I love his simple and clean looking style.!
I actually need one of these, ugh. I really can't do my career choice very easily with the Bamboo Fun tablet I have -.-
That's /exactly/ why I want a cintiq, it's tough for me to look back at my tablet and back at my computer monitor, makes things easier ya know? I wish I had the money for it, then I would buy one...
..No it's not SAI. And I didn't mean the program at the begining I meant when she colors, she uses Photoshop.
So let's see: started in a japanese software, altered and finished in photoshop, touched up in the same japanese software.
Is this correct?
I love watching these videos. It's so fun seeing how people draw, and what processes they use. It differs so greatly between everyone, I love it.
+AftermaThXCVII oh, now we are two :D
same
. .
_
wow vector shadows always looks clean.
Every time I compare my art to professional manga or anime I always thought to my self; no matter how hard I tried to improve my skills, I'm always going to end up failing.
Clip Studio Paint EX it's the Japanese equivalent to Manga Studio EX.
I bought a Cintiq after watching many of this videos and I'm NOT dissapointed! It's a lot better than my old Bamboo! I really love your talent artworks. However, do you draw male characters too? What about backgrounds?
wow. that was amazing! I wonder if I could have gotten to that stage if I had sticked to painting myself!. Will never know, as Ive stoped painting all together. Ah well!
how about small size? maybe they make 13 inchi or more small monitor version. it costs cheaper than this one just a little, just a little!
Oh, I know this artist.
I'm following him of Twitter for quite a long time now. He delivers such good artworks.
darn im so jealous now ...but im learning because of of that envy
can you tell me how did you become that amazing and how can i be like you someday
I learnt something new and interesting from this, which is the colour of hair near the face, good thing I watched it.
It's really handy for zooming, I cant have this quality in my laptop when I use paint tool sai
but it's soo gooood~
i've grown fond of it
i wonder if the next video will be come soon :/
I wish I could afford a screen like that, I have a tablet but it doesn't feel the same since I'm not looking at a pen but at the screen instead.
Lol I was wondering what your problem was with it, then I realized it's on all the other videos too.
But I like it... To each their own haha
can anyone explain how to color properly in clip studio? (around 6:30) like layering for things... hmm I can't really figure a way doing it in a neat way.
Wish I had that tablet so that I could draw like that. I can draw like that on paper, but ... doesn't work that well when scanning to pc.
don't worry about the music it keeps me watching the video because it's lively
anime gets a lot of hate from a lot of different places, but i dont care who you are you have to respect this!
Your killing me with that cuteness!
ikr! i want to save up for it but god knows how long that'll take...
She uses some of the same tricks I use on Ps...
...maybe I'm on the right track?!
nope, the beginning is Clip Paint Studio
know i seriously need a cintiq.
Dude... this was amazing!!!!
*adds drawing pad to the growing list of things I want but am too poor to buy*
u think it takes about a good 3 hours at least? (esta usando Photoshop?)
What's the software used to create this drawings? I just got my Bamboo Pen&Touch a couple days ago and been PaintTool SAI for a while but am not used to the interface. This software looks more like PS so I think I'll be able to get familiar with it quicker

One day I'm gunna have that (hopefully) but its probably bare loads of money :(
Nobody knows how badly I want one of these DX
We all do I think xD
If mine doesn't work ( getting me frustrated) I wish I could send it to you :D
me to but my house is kinda small
idk were to put it ;(
Would love to have it, but read some bad reviews about it. Not compatible with Windows 8.1, and it lags pretty bad with a large workload. Would love it for just hobby work, but the price is too high to do that. There are more important things.
The video is at 3x speed.
Everytime I draw on my wacom I hear this music.
In Photoshop? Ctrl + Alt + Shift + N (or some custom shortcut on tablet)
It says clip paint studio pro.
fact it makes you faster though but not better
Look how many layers for an anime painting.
I already have a wacom bamboo, but I want this one too now!
Cintiq 24HD touch"
と書いてありますよ^^;
but doesn't the top left corner have the photo shop logo, Ps?
So many layers!... How. :/
