I just love the beauty of this song due to the fact that I can feel and relate to this song based on personal experience.
See, I knew this one girl, who've I've been friends with for almost 10 years, and i could conclude that I don't remember a time when i didn't like her or didn't enjoy her company. Sand seems to be a sometime theme in his songs. Somewhere on the Internet there are home movies of Nick at the beach with his parents when he was only a toddler very very young. Running running all over the sand in and out of the waves looking very happy same face just a smaller little person. I wonder if he looked back on those days fondly..
