In 4e Asmodeus got a small piece of the Shard Of Pure Evil from Pazuzu to create the Ruby Rod. Not the whole Shard of Pure Evil.
YES! Shout out to Obyrith Demons! My personal favorite section of DnD lore! From Pazuzu, who rules all the skys of all the Layers of the Abyss, to Obox-ob, the OG prince of demons and Lord of vermin near the very bottom of the known abyss, all the way back to Tharzidun the mad god who's mind was originally broken by Obyriths. 🖤
I hope we'll get to hear more about Obyriths from you guys this year, and thank you for all the hard work you put in to make this dream a reality.
P.S. I think Obox-ob's Layer of the Abyss is in the running for nastiest place in the cosmos.

You mentioned Olhydra - she is an Evil Elemental Princess. I believe she and the other Evil Elemental Princes are first detailed in the 1e Fiend Folio (pg32).

Shard of Evil is still a thing. Asmo didn’t take the whole thing, the original Shard of Evil is broken into multiple pieces as they continue to burrow deeper, creating more Abyssal Layers. Asmo just took one piece for the Ruby Rod.

I believe that the share of evil is still falling in the abyss but that a sliver of it makes up the Ruby tip of Asmodeus’s rod. Ironic a supposedly lawful evil being has a chaotic evil artifact
I think the Shard itself is Neutral Evil. Originally, the Oberyth had wanted it placed in the Astral Sea, which would have allowed them to corrupt them entire multiverse, but Tharizdun betrayed them and placed it in the Elemental Chaos instead. So it's Neutral Evil and it was placed in a Chaotic Neutral plane, so it combined the create a Chaotic Evil plane.

300 episodes baby! Gosh. Its been so many years and years since I first stumbled upon the dungeon cast.
I cant even remember what episode it was exactly. Its been atleast 5 years, for thats when my older half brother told me to look up DND stuff on YT so I can dm a game for him and his friends.

I don’t think 4e stuff stopped being canonical if it formed the basis for the novels of the forgotten realms setting that take place during 4e. Dagon even played a part in protecting Toril from a far realm invasion. And the novels, thanks to legal stuff, stopped with the Sundering series which sets the lore for 5e. From a Forgotten Realms novel perspective, 4e is mostly pre-established lore

I dunno if this is in any lore but I remember reading online about Dagon and this may sound like a theory. But it was written like a short story and it forever stuck with me.
It was how a Vampire and his small band were attempting to contact various demons to negotiate a demonic pact, and how as they finished this ritual summoning circle. Suddenly water began to trickle from the candles and the runes on the ground shifted to a sandy muck, with the scent of salt and brine.
And next thing the adventurers realize their summoning room was flooded.. And then they were wrapped in tendrils, with a tendral inside of their mouths. They screamed and went to speak, but couldn't. Some of them had telepathy. But they couldn't speak. It was as if their own thoughts were suctioned away.. Unable to hear their own thoughts.
Due to the sheer volume of force of the waters pressing down upon them, they were unable to move. Their limbs tied to their sides.
All they could do was look forward through this darkness, this wasn't just dark vision. This was the blackened depths of the void of the sea's. The only thing they could see was a set of red eyes. Then many more. They could feel the eyes, their gazes protruding all around them. As if being stabbed all over their body.
Then this lampray like face was brought to theirs. They could only see the blackened scales and a giant maw of endless rows of white fangs.
They all woke up inside of a black, squishy tunnel that had such putrid emulants. And the darkness, was so dark. But due to their darkvision sight. Granted them clarity.. and they walked forward.
They had no weapons, no armor. No tools, food or drink. Just their clothes. Their wizard came to the conclusion that whatever ate them, they were not in a throat. Nor stomach. It was as if this was a living body, with passage ways of neurons and flesh and blood. But the walls were thick in membrane.
Their barbarian attempted to smash the walls, only to break their arms.
They marched on.. what seemed like an eternity. Eventually having to cannibalize one member after another. The party eventually turning against each other. (They were all evil.) Only the Vampire survived. And as he traveled.. He came up various "throats." Into the heads of this.. "Dagon."
He came to the conclusion that this Dagon's body was so vast. That it had portals through the dimensions for its body was so large, reality itself for every dimension could not withstand it.
That Dagon had many. Many heads in numerous realities. Each the same, sharing all the same thoughts. Calculating and researching and testing. Unlocking the secrets of everything.
Only to find that Dagon already knew everything that could ever exist. Mastery of technology, of every possible fighting style and magical power.
That in certain Dimensions Dagon had eliminated all Gods and absorbed their powers, and allowing his ever growing mass to expand and fill the world. The head there, channeled and opened numerous other portals to other realities.. Spreading its tentacle like heads through.. To repeat this process.
In dimensions where dagon was "slain." He simply waited to buy his time, to calculate and plot.
This Vampire came to the conclusion that Dagon purposefully hides himself away to continue to do this, so none could ever know the extent of the Obyrinth's reach. And to hide how powerful Dagon was. How he could easily squash all other foes in every reality.. But doesn't for its reasons are beyond the mind of this vampire.
Who begins to go insane.
He then wakes up back in the summoning room.. All alone. the room itself was completely intact. He smelt himself and smelt like water, salt and brine.
He felt.. a dedication and new purpose. He became a cultist of dagon and traveled to a coast. There he threw himself into the ocean.. and drowned. only to have his body taken under the waters by a lone tentacle.
How can a vampire drown?
