Thanks for all the kind messages. In this session I used Tekki Sandan as my warm-up. If you read the comment under the video and/or corresponding post on my blog it will supplement the understanding of the video. All the best from chilly Kyushu, Japan.

Saluti dalla NZ. Ti ho incontrato e allenato un paio di volte a Chch ciirca 15 anni fa , passa il tempo eh? . :-) OSU

Wow! Thank you for this Sensei! For me this is the most difficult Tekki and seeing you break this down to its slowest execution was just what I needed! Much respect to you!

After nearly 40 years of karate, I'm more and more interested in practicing kata slowly and mindfully as well as fast and powerfully. Amazing execution as always.

ありがとうございます!! Thanks for the post and points. I agree with a variety of practice modes. One thing we do here is practice kata slowly focused on ‘precision for effectiveness’ and environmental awareness, then go hard out on-full speed-on the bag (etc).
There are many benefits from such practice, both technical form, explosive power and so on.
All the very best from Japan.
      押忍, Andre Bertel

I know its slow motion but the way every motion, every stance and technique lands or are positioned perfectly. Beautifully performed sir.

Thank you Sensei for this educative video. The slow movement helps to understand each step. Hope to see Tekki nidan slowly like this video.
    Thank you again 😊

    素晴らしいです!ありがとうございます。メリクリスマス。
After some hard core snow shoveling and alpine ski, I am practicing Junro Yondan now and took a break to watch you new video! I'm stuck home for Christmas because of a huge snow storm here in the Laurentians Mountains, Québec, we got more than 80cm of snow. I heard there was snow in Osaka too.
Nice ref to Nakayama sensei video at the beginning (with that performance on the suspension bridge lol)! ;)

Really useful to have this kata shown in slow time. I'm sure I've been omitting some technical aspects of the kata so I'll be looking at this in detail in order to improve. There is always an opportunity to learn and improve. Osu.

Osu Etienne. It's great that a Tekki is one of your favorite kata as the applicative depth is pretty much unequalled. Greetings from Japan.

Wonderful! Thank you Sensei! I see some interesting variations from modern style which reflect how I was first taught back in the 1970's. It is good to see that these variations are not "wrong" but rather improvement on modern "dancing kata". OSU!

The main difference I noticed with Kanazawa sensei is the position of your fist at 0:54 (mid-knuckles down instead of tetsui) I wonder what is the bunkai for this?

Greetings and thanks! Yes, SKIF teach this waza as a strike.
I was taught and teach this as ‘neck wrap’.
Naifanchi/Tekki for us (IKS) are our tanden kata; furthermore, and more relevant to your question: ‘infighting kata’.
Kindest regards from Oita City, Japan
