Mountain Biking The Long Island Double Crown | Glacier Ridge To Overton

  • I mountain biked all of Glacier Ridge and all of Overton Preserve to create a 26.3 mile loop with 1,878 feet of climbing. This was quite exhausting and I did it all with just one granola bar and some water. Definitely wouldn't recommend doing that. This was my longest ride yet and took nearly 4 hours to complete. Check out my Strava stats below. I rode my Commencal as always and recorded this on my GoPro Hero 8 in 4K 30 fps.

      Thanks! I've been really liking Meadowlark Park and Hempstead Harbor Woods, but Glacier Ridge and Overton are the best spots to get mileage and have fun!

    Great job crushing both trails in the same ride! Which trail would you say is more taxing? My son and I completed GR yesterday. Never did Overton. Some of the hills were tough, but manageable. Doing both in the same day is out of the question at this point.

      Thanks! I think Overton is a little less taxing, but I think GR flows better so for me I always prefer GR. Nice job on completing GR, you never know….maybe a GROT is in your future!

    • @VentureMTB
      @VentureMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you want to start at Glacier Ridge, its right behind Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville. Then you can use TrailForks to locate the trails that you'd like to take, particularly the one that will take you to Overton as shown in the video.

      @@VentureMTB hey bro what kind of bike is that you're riding on? Do you think it's realistic for me to find a good mountain bike for sale around $500? Thanks and good luck in Binghamton stay safe and away from the Corona. I got it right now and it sucks.

    • @VentureMTB
      @VentureMTB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@snoop73633 Thanks, but damn that sucks, hope you recover soon! I ride a 2016 Commencal Meta TR V4, but I've changed basically everything on it but the rear shock and cranks. I've made it as beefy as I saw fit for riding upstate and whatnot. Definitely isn't made for LI trails...

  • @edwardprete

    Where do you recommend on LI if new to this.

    • @VentureMTB
      @VentureMTB  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stillwell and Glacier Ridge are the two places that I started out riding. They both have beginner trails that have more difficult loops added on to the beginner trail. Trailforks is a great app to help find which trails suit your riding skill and where to find them.
