Any time I look up how to play a new game, I look to see if you've uploaded a tutorial. You teach it and play a whole game, and that's exactly what I need to be able to teach it to my friends. Thank you for the work you put into your tutorials!

I bought this game about 18 months ago and played once or twice then put it away. I did enjoy playing I just meant to paint the mini's before playing again.
Due to the current pandemic I decided to get it out and paint all the Mini's as I am not able to work...... I now only have a single hero "Sampson" to paint for the completed box ;-) . I am now raring to get playing again.
I couldn't remember the rules so I looked for "how to.." vidoe's on youtube. This is by a country mile the best on youtube that I have found as it makes things clear, highlights mistakes that are easy to make (albeit by making the mistakes) has great examples of actual game play and how strategy MUST be considered as part of the game whilst acknowledging that luck (dice and cards drawn) will always play a (big !!) part.
I ended up watching the whole 2 hrs as I found it very entertaining and I could hear the frustration and joy in your voice and the tide ebbed and flowed. There was obviously a lot going on for you IRL so many thanks for completing the video and sharing. Cracking job!!

OK, I realize I'm watching this quite some time after you released this video, but I just bought the game and it's the best overall tutorial I've seen. Even with some minor mistakes, it was great. I will say, I don't think you search enough with your characters, thus limiting their equipment.
You are 100% right. I never search as nearly often as I should.... and it gets me every single time... gah! I need to play with people who will punch my arm and remind me to search...

Managed to get my hands on a used copy for a decent price recently and this video was very helpful to learn the flow of turns.

You're so welcome! Sorry for the delay, but I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Ann is, to this day, one of my very favorite board game characters every created. Even if I don't play this game that often, I doubt I'll ever be able to give it away due to my love of her.

Thank you! It is a great game! My one big complaint is the 6-character requirement. I feel like that is kind of a drag to the experience.... but the narrative is so much fun!

Thanks for making this video. I've never played before. This weekend will be my first time. But it seems to me you didn't really utilize the "make noise" action enough to redirect zombies. That could have probably saved you.
Bit late to the party, currently playing a Quest roughly every 2 weeks with some guys. I noticed when the scuffed Nelly moved at 35:36, she should have also have picked up the bow because she holds the torch, 2x pickup!

For the archer. You are suppose to add +1 to dice rolls, not add another dice. So you only needed to a 2 or higher to hit. Probably would of changed the game drastically. Nice playthrough though.

1:03:25 and 1:24:14. The second one really messed you up, cause it caused you to kill your other character when you most likely would of killed the zombies and saved her.

Thanks for another video guide. I have just bought this and watching your tutorial really helps put the rule book into context. Why did you choose Black Plague over other zombicide games?
Well, if I remember correctly this was the second in the series. The first one had enough weird-rules that I just couldn't really get myself to get into it. This one seemed to address all of the rules issues that really bothered me, AND I loved the theme.... Then after this one the green plague (?) Kickstarter came out, and I didn't see it offering enough new stuff to draw my attention.
Great game play. I have learned a lot watching your videos. Where did you get your yellow and red turn markers? Great idea.
Good game, and I thought your initial strategy of opening the big building early worked well.
I agree with most of your negatives about the game in general -- it certainly captures the escalation of the zombie threat, I guess. Thinking about randomness, there seems to be multiple moments where bad rolling causes disastrous consequences, so even a normal distribution of good and bad luck is going to work against you.
The splitting rule is pretty odd too, although surely it doesn't cut in if there are two routes to the same noisy area? No idea -- I've only played it once (I was Xena!?). We won by somehow directing all the zombies (like every figure in the game) to smash up against one locked door, while two guys ran around and got the last objective. It was still a bit hair-raising, but it worked.
Yeah! There is just a handful of rules that just make things feel less intuitive. Like, that they go for what’s loudest, rather than what’s closest. I kind of understand the thematic there, but it just adds a level of thinking that feels like slows things down a little.
And for sure, randomness isn’t really a big turn off for me (as it is for many) but when the classic Tom-luck kicks in and there is no way to regulate it, I can feel very frustrated. It’s still fun and thematic, but roll after roll is a little defeating.
For example, when Nelly couldn’t open her door, that was actually the second time I recorded that - the first time I didn’t notice how terribly framed the shot was. I rolled a 1, then a 2, then a 1. I noticed the crappy shot and thought, “thank goodness! I’ll redo that one.” I adjusted the camera, and started rolling again, and.... well, you saw what happened.....
Oh well! Back to a more euro-style game for me on this next one! I need a break from dice for a little bit 😂
The mechanics of how you film things is impressive all on its own. So much cutting, and I assume you have to move the camera each time.
Yup! But that’s what I love doing. Film editing was my passion (and what I started to pursue) before teaching entered the picture. So, after settling into teaching and the chaos that comes after the first couple of years, it felt perfect to put my two other passions (Games and film editing) together. And it’s been a freaking blast to do it! One of these days I might actually have a camera and/or computer that aren’t 5+ years old.... 😂 Dreamers can dream, right?

Targeting priority was wrong in first attack as fatty is before necromancer. You would only choose who to attack first if you had a fatty and abomination in the same space as they are both priority 2

For a Melee Action “The Player divides his hits as he wishes amongst the possible targets in the zone” Target priorities apply when using a ranged weapon.
Heyo at 01:08:45 you get two hits with the spell but also two misses. Shouldnt the misses hit the Wizard? According to rule book spells behave the same way as ranged attacks. So the wizzard should die right? And awesome video btw thanks for that :) helped a lot!
It's entirely possible! I don't have the rulebook on me to check right now.... but there is a GREAT chance you are totally right there. Thanks for pointing that out to help other people learn!

What happens if all spawn zones are placed in the same zone? Where the necromancers go?
Oh man -- it's been a long time since I've played it.... but if I remember correctly you spawn the necromancer, and if you don't kill him before his next turn, he will escape upon activating -- causing that spawn zone to be permanent...... don't quote me on that -- but that's my best recollection.
