Shadow was given a truly special gift - the chance to say goodbye to his family properly, and they had a chance to see the hero he would become. He may not have saved them as he was intended to when he was created, but he has saved the world many times, inspired by his loved ones to protect the world they wanted to call home.
Yes, as saddened as I am that Shadow ultimately couldn’t change fate, I’m comforted that he was given proper closure this time, and reassurance that his family have always and will always love him no matter what. I feel like that was something that Shadow needed to hear (even if he would’ve never admitted it to himself).

He got his closure, finally severed the link that Black Doom still had on him, and while he's just not a party person, I'm sure Maria's final message had him appreciating his company far more than before. Despite the loss of power and knowing he cant change fate, Shadow has that renewed vigor, of a being who's finally done letting the past define him and shackle him down.
Those Doom Emeralds would be destroyed if Black Doom is erased but if they aren't connected to Black Doom they would stay with Shadow indefinitely and also might give him a chance to control these Doom powers and master them

Not gonna lie, Sonic is busy chilling having a wonderful time, reliving his nostalgia and glory days through spending time with his past self, while Shadow is reliving past trauma, gaining new powers that made him feel complete and whole, having crash out and bursts of anger, only to see his family to his death, lose those powers that made him feel complete, and had to attend a birthday party of his rival while dealing with all those emotions. This is kind of fucking depressing when you think about it.
Reason why Shadow never waved goodbye to Classic Sonic and Tails: he is saddened that he had to part ways with Maria and Gerald again when he defeated Black Doom.

in general after playing a bit of Sonic's campaign and then doing all of Shadow; then going back to Sonic god I wish they had overhauled modern Sonic's control to be more like Shadow it is arduous going from Shadow's handling to Sonic lmao
It is not difficult to add more cutscenes, or even change the existing ones. I was hoping Sega of America would make the changes. They can work on lots of projects at once, so it doesn’t make sense to have less time invested in the so-called “Sonic Generations” remake. If shadow generations has been released as a standalone game, the sonic generations portion would’ve had more time to be remade in terms of the story alone as well as adding more stages from both Sonic the Hedgehog’s world and Blaze the Cat’s world. The Time eater can travel to multiple worlds to tear things apart, can’t it? It shouldn’t have to ruin just one world or the other. And I wanted Cream to tell Sonic that he, Rouge, Amy, and Blaze should follow her to Vanilla’s house just after returning to the party. Shadow and Silver should’ve left quietly knowing that they weren’t invited to Sonic’s party.
I do wish we could've had an extra scene added in the last cutscene where Shadow telling Sonic about Black Doom and what he experienced in White Space at the end of the game.

Plus, even if we were to say Shadow 05 contradicts his SA2 personality, we can't really take a single game as a way to interpret Shadow's personality when he's appeared in many others. If anything, Sonic's attitude is the one that went through a change. He was really friendly with Shadow in Shadow 05 and Sonic 06, but now it seems like they share this rivalry of which they'd rather fight each other instead of talking things out.

@BKLYN48 If you mean Black Doom, then no, its an actor called Ben Diskin, which now blows me away reading his other roles. Haido from Aggretsuko for a more recent anime roll, and my favorite being Numbuh 1 and 2 from KND.
@BKLYN48no, they just filtered some guy, yet couldn’t atleast pitch down the mephiles voice (which btw the problem was not telling him to do a deeper voice.) But for what those aspects are, the game is the best Sonic game I have played.
If only Eggman knew Gerald was in the White Space, though it might be more of an emotional reunion if it were with Eggman post-Frontiers meeting Gerald. I'm not sure how Classic Eggman would react though.
Hold on to your seat this is a LONG one. The part where shadow tears up is beautiful, not because he's showing emotion but because i think its interpreted that he's finally allowing himself to grieve about Maria, because throughout shadow history he's always tried his hardest to not think about her (even in the ending of shadow 05 he tells himself that he needs to let go of her) he does this because he thinks thinking about Maria holds him back from his true potential, but this game shows us that shadow was wrong about that, holding maria in his heart is what truly makes shadow strong It's because of his care for maria that he was able to overcome black dooms darkness in the end, everytime maria comforts shadow in the game there is always light shining ON him, and near the end of the final boss fight shadow's body starts to glow bright, implying that marias light was now shining THROUGH him this time, and that's all because he was finally letting himself accept the past that he tried to constantly push away and that's honestly so beautiful, that's that kind of depth I love to see in sonic the hedgehog, some people think sonic stories being edgy, cool, and overall serious is what makes the stories so good, but that's wrong, it's the characterization, depth, and world building that we love to see, and in my opinion this game perfects it, which is why I'm so excited to see where this franchise goes next.
I think you're on to something, especially if you've seen the three episode prequel 'anime' for this game on the Sonic channel... the third episode specifically where Shadow willed himself out of a panic attack.
Shadow having to leave his family behind knowing he couldn’t save them from their fate was the saddest moment in his story but they can be now at peace and he can finally let go of his past and move forward keeping his promise to protect the planet and make people happy in their memory 👍🦔🖤😢
I love how after that sad farewell, Shadow still had the strength to say "On your feet." (Or "You got this, Sonic." in the original) to the Sonics right after.
I kind of guessed that Black Doom's return would be more like a flashpoint thing instead of him actually surviving his fight with Shadow in the 2005 Shadow The Hedgehog game. Maybe now there is still room for the Eclipse The Darkling Story.
It's not like a flashpoint thing. He literally did get reborn, as he does appear in Space Colony ARK Act 1, which happened before the Time Eater transports everyone to White Space. I think it's implied he was reborn from the growth of the Death Leech left on the ARK.

The only thing that disappointed me about the battle against Devil Doom is that there was no Super Shadow, although Sonic was good in his defense and had the emeralds.
To be fair, if sonic can beat perfect chaos in base form now it’s not hard to believe base shadow could handle black doom the same. Shoot he absolutely took down Metal Overlord in base just prior.

OMG!! It was Black Doom's blood was used to help create Shadow the Hedghog, who obtained eternal life. Shadow the Hedgehog was made of Black Doom's blood, in a deal between the alien and Professor Gerald; this technically makes Shadow Black Doom's biological son. Black Doom even states that being a part of his blood, Shadow is more akin to him than he thinks.

i am 27 years old, but this ending got me really hard. Sonic Adventure 2 did the same back then and even the third movie got me tears. This Storyline with Shadow is so fking emotional, it gets me everytime
As sad as this is, I think this is the best thing to happen to Shadow. He got to whoop his demons ass, see his family again, and go to a party that proves Maria wish.
She told him his friends need his help instead of trying to save her and Gerald. He then goes to Sonic and company for the final battle and then chills at the party. I feel like Maria would be happy to see him there.
Now, we have to ask... What was SILVER doing this entire time? He fights Sonic thinking he's a fake, so he must have been dealing with fake clones or the ghost impersonator from Sonic Rivals. I think he was fighting Eggman Nega, who was either trying to build a Neo Time Eater or trying to take control of the original, not knowing that the Eggmans are already controlling it.

From my understanding, Knuckles getting knocked into a tree made him look like a joke, so I think that the folks at Sega or Sonic Team decided to change up that one bit, given how Knuckles was recently portrayed in the Sonic Movie 2, and that worked out pretty great as it brought him back to his former glory.
Now it makes sense why Shadow was not around in the beginning of Sonic Generations but appears at the end… makes me wonder why it’s the same for Silver 👀
I didn’t realize this til now but Eggman’s voice direction is weird in this remake. Didn’t classic eggman sound smarter in the original Generations while Modern kept his craziness? Now he just sounds like regular eggman.
I like Shadow Generations better than Sonic Generations. Shadow’s gameplay is just much more fun and fluid plus the controls are way better than Sonic’s

The part where shadow tears up is beautiful, not because he's showing emotion but because i think its interpreted that he's finally allowing himself to grieve about Maria, because throughout shadow history he's always tried his hardest to not think about her (even in the ending of shadow 05 he tells himself that he needs to let go of her) he does this because he thinks thinking about Maria holds him back from his true potential, but this game shows us that shadow was wrong about that, holding maria in his heart is what truly makes shadow strong It's because of his care for maria that he was able to overcome black dooms darkness in the end, everytime maria comforts shadow in the game there is always light shining ON him, and near the end of the final boss fight shadow's body starts to glow bright, implying that marias light was now shining THROUGH him this time, and that's all because he was finally letting himself accept the past that he tried to constantly push away and that's honestly so beautiful, that's that kind of depth I love to see in sonic the hedgehog, some people think sonic stories being edgy, cool, and overall serious is what makes the stories so good, but that's wrong, it's the characterization, depth, and world building that we love to see, and in my opinion this game perfects it, which is why I'm so excited to see where this franchise goes next.
I think you're on to something, especially if you've seen the three episode prequel 'anime' for this game on the Sonic channel... the third episode specifically where Shadow willed himself out of a panic attack.
I do hope they continue this story and dive deeper into the emotional aspects of Shadow’s life

Shadow having to leave his family behind knowing he couldn’t save them from their fate was the saddest moment in his story but they can be now at peace and he can finally let go of his past and move forward keeping his promise to protect the planet and make people happy in their memory 👍🦔🖤😢
I love how after that sad farewell, Shadow still had the strength to say "On your feet." (Or "You got this, Sonic." in the original) to the Sonics right after.

And given how Movie Sonic basically gave our Rad Red back his status as a powerhouse, they probably were trying to be consistent with representing him. Wouldn't make a lot of sense for say a movie version of Amy to clobber Knuckles unless she was using the hammer, yknow?

The only thing that disappointed me about the battle against Devil Doom is that there was no Super Shadow, although Sonic was good in his defense and had the emeralds.
he was in top condition with more power, he was “complete” the ultimate life form.
To be fair, if sonic can beat perfect chaos in base form now it’s not hard to believe base shadow could handle black doom the same. Shoot he absolutely took down Metal Overlord in base just prior.

From my understanding, Knuckles getting knocked into a tree made him look like a joke, so I think that the folks at Sega or Sonic Team decided to change up that one bit, given how Knuckles was recently portrayed in the Sonic Movie 2, and that worked out pretty great as it brought him back to his former glory.
