You should have received a thin piece of very flexible plastic inside your box. This would enable you to pull the model out of the box without risk of damage. You should NEVER pull the loco out by the buffer. As you say there is a space for a speaker. I have just fitted sound to one of mine. It must be one of the easiest conversations around, apart from the new Farish locos which have the speaker fitted!
I have two 50s both special editions and they will not pull any stock around tight curves due to close couplings,I had to remove the pre fitted pipes to get over the problem, which is a pity on a model of this price ,Dapol should have fitted slightly longer coupling shanks!Models are getting far to unpractical these days due to scale detail demand by the public! The old farish 50 had no issues with couplings and that coupled close enough for home layouts.
Bit late on this comment but I have the class 68 and it also has the derailing 1st wagon problem. It's due to all the detail on the front getting in the way. I can not believe Dapol did not fix this for the Class 50. Do the people there even test their own products? I had to remove the pipe detail to fix this issue.
Stefan Majcher I have two fifties. Both have a full compliment of lights. I was going to suggest you check the interior switches, but as you say it’s only one tail light not working there’s probably a fault somewhere.
Lou Smith, I would think that the problem is due to the buffer beam pipes that Dapol have, like the class 68, fitted. However, unlike the class 68 Dapol have fitted full length pipes to both ends. This prevents the coupling from moving on its cam. If you shorten the pipes, at one end, either side of the coupling it should stop your derailments. Why Dapol put the full length pipes on both ends I have no idea, especially as they had to leave the yellow ended ones (mentioned in the instructions) out.
I know what you mean with the pipes but they aren't the issue at all I got too 50s and decided to remove pipes from one end to see if it was the issue but didn't work, however using the couplings as mentioned works with pipes in.. No issues at all
I’m sold!!! Gonna have to buy one now! 👌👌👌

Very nice. I just bought the same model, are your directional lights all working? On one end one of the red lights do not seem to be working.

v nice!
Have you had any issues using farish coaches as mine keep derailing due to close coupling
Lou Smith funny you should say that. I have
@@benskiproductions I've noticed your from Plymouth as I use Chris on Exeter St, I find the coupling is the issue but not with dapol coaches
