Hiya Ellie! Happy new year! I very much look forward to what spacex has in store for us this year. I’m thrilled about the increased launch cadence as well as new versions and adaptations. As far as reusabilaty for the whole platform I’m skeptical. I’d be happier seeing them perfect catches of both stages and upgrade the heat shields and throw in some metered reuse. If they can pull off reuse of a whole stack, of course I’d be thrilled.
A great report with a bunch of interesting details about upgrades, all condensed in a "bookmarkable" 9 minutes video as definitive reference! thank you Ellie!

So thankful for this channel. It’s pertinent and accurate information is welcomed(unlike others🤫). Looking forward to your coverage of the next launch.
3:20 Welcome back, Ellie. I think the reason that they're deploying dummy StarLink 2 satellites is not that they don't want to risk losing the real ones, but, rather, because Starship isn't going into orbit on this flight. The satellites do have ion propulsion, but it is not sufficient to transfer a satellite into orbit unless Starship, itself, is in orbit.
Even if Starship were in orbit I doubt that the low inclination would be useful for those satellites. Unless they can do a huge inclination change in orbit, the satellites need to be at a 40 degree or higher inclination to be useful.
Good point. The 53° and 70° inclinations would have to be launched from Florida, right? Maybe the 97.6° inclination would be better from Vandenburg. @@ronlee9984
Happy New Year Ellie! We look forward to so much more with this channel for 2025!! You absolutely do a great job! And the interviews with Elon have been spot on. Keep up the awesome work!
Thank you for the concise reporting! I've blocked other well known channels that always use the phrases "game changer", "crazy", "Elon just announced!", "are they serious?", "Are they for real?", "Unbelievable news!" or anything of the sort. They're just so grating on the ears to listen to!

About booster on flight 6 not going for capture… Ellie, you said at 5:53 “We saw those sensors on the tower, at the top, were bent…” causing the splashdown decision; BUT, that was an antenna bent on the top of the tower, not a sensor. The SpaceX statement you read at 5:40 specified the Mechazilla issue was with “sensors on the arms,” NOT the antenna on the tower. That’s the first time I’ve heard that!
Dang Ellie, that was a nice, relaxing video…. Keep up the great and unique work! Your coverage is valuable to us fans of all you space vloggers! I grew up with Tim Dodds on You Tube during Covid! Hence my new hobby! ❤
They wouldn't be able to deploy the real satellites on this flight even if they wanted to because it's suborbital. I plan on watching the launch from the Playa Bagdad beach on the Mexico side this time. Less than 3 miles from the launch. :)
Success has been experienced in many metrics of many SpaceX systems but that never stops improvements. So they will test incremental improvement everywhere. This news production's scope is unprecedented yet clear, with you're skill and experience showing. Thank you for a great show.
I think this is the first time I've seen "you're" used erroneously in a yt comment. It's usually the other way around with "your". Congratulations, 'you're' a champion!
Think they will catch the booster on 7 and make it look more nominal, first attempt was a little sketchy...If they try catching the ship on 8 or 9 only problem I see is the booster. After they catch it, they have to lift it off on a transport stand and roll it off before an attempt to catch the ship. Problem is the self destruct mechanism, which is hand activated after its on the launch stand. Can they transport it armed, cause they wont have time to climb up and de-arm it?
The second Tower may be ready for a catch (only) by the time SpaceX attempt to catch the Starship. The rest of Tower B may not be ready, which is not that important at this time. So Tower A catches the Booster and Tower B catches the Starship. If something happens with the Starship catch, there is less ground zero to be repaired, as most of it is not installed.
@@imaginary_friend7300 I initially thought of that too. But in technical terms, the FTS is still 'live' and could be triggered by a command from 1. It's own internal system (even though it is highly unlikely) or 2. by the Hawthorne control center or one of the 3 termination buttons in all mission control centres. So to transport it, it needs to have the FTS manually over-ridden to protect everyone and every thing around it.
Great info, great editing & visuals. Feedback tho: for some of the video (esp the first half) it sounds like you are just reading your script. I find it easier to process what you're saying if you can sound more conversational.
really great video! perfectly concise and information dense with lots of new content. if there is an issue with the deployment of the mass simulators (e.g a problem with the door) how do you think it would affect reentry and landing?
Happy New Year Ellie. Great detailed information Ellie, 2025 will be a very exciting year watching the SpaceX progress (without gov. interference & delays).
Another great report; just one additional point regarding the Starlink Simulators. Flight 7 is going to be another sub-orbital trajectory, because they have not fully tested the re-light process on the Raptors. This means that they would simply be wasting any actual Starlink satellites. The Starlink satellites do not have the Delta-V to be able to make it into full orbit from that sub-orbital trajectory.
Yes, hope they use them for something. Transmitter relay station using their laser communication. (Naughty idea) Target practice for the Space Force 🤭(I never said that)
I suspect we get a ship catch in 25 but I think we will be waiting until next year to see serious reuse of the entire ship. 100% expect at least 1 booster reuse in 25.
