For those wondering about dad’s (Paul’s) health: No, he has not had a stroke, he has MS. He’s battled it for a number of years now, but it has never really been publicly addressed. It affects his left side making it harder to get around and grab with his left hand. Ricky mentioned it after this video was filmed but I cut before he said anything. That being said, know that he is in good spirits in spite of it and still remains faithful in Christ! Just keep sending your prayers up!
Thank you for explaining! God Bless you and all your family. God Bless Paul and I thank God for him! Pray he is still creating music! Some of his works like "It is Finished" have not received the attention they deserve. I am thankful he still has that marvelous tenor voice. He is not just amoung the best, he IS the best!❤
You may never see this comment, but no matter. Looking in from Ireland, I always say that this is the definitive version of Kentucky Waltz. I have never heard it sung better, nor do I ever expect to hear it done better. The best of luck to your dad.
So glad that I found this. My brother, Mike Davis, played with Paul in the Knoxville Grass. I was a regular at Buddy's Barbeque and went everywhere they would play. I am going back a long time and felt like we all grew up together. Many precious memories. Paul has always been the best there is!
Hi-ya Zach, just ol' Bob here. I gotta say, although your Dad has inescapable transportation issues, he is always been a 'transporting encounter' to me. Each and every time I'm privileged to see him. 🎉❤🎉
I was blessed and fortunate to work with Paul back in the mid-nineties. I was already in Skagg’s band when Paul started with us. I roomed with him on the road, and he taught me how to play golf, in which I’m still terrible at. We played a few golf courses on the road, and there in Hendersonville. Such a great friend and a joy to be around. I will never forget the time when we were on the road, and after a show, he found out his brother passed away. We had just seen his brother recently, and he passed not long after that. It absolutely tore my heart out to see him so broken up over it. It’s hard to believe that it’s already been that long ago. Thank you Paul for some great memories. Your kids weren’t very old, I don’t know if they would remember me or not, but I wish them all well.
Zach, your dad is BY FAR one of the absolute BEST and MOST FULL VOICED TENOR I’ve ever heard. I get the chills whenever I hear his version of Kentucky Waltz. I’ve known Ricky for many years because my father was his bass player back in the eighties. I’ve met and heard many fine fine singers…..but your dad is the cream of the crop. How is he doing these days?
I SO enjoyed Paul all those years he was with Ricky- saw him maybe 3 times over the years… Ricky is right- they NEVER sounded better than when Paul was in the band. Prayers for his health.
Mike is a great replacement, but I miss Paul in Kentucky Thunder. I was blessed to see him twice with Ricky Skaggs over the years, and every time he sang Kentucky Waltz and hit that high note it would always give me goosebumps and put a joy in my heart. God bless Paul. Thank you Zack for sharing and God bless you too!
Greetings from Scotland, recently came across Paul singing Kentucky waltz, man he can sing,so sorry about his I'll health prayers and good wishes from Bonnie Scotland
Angels stop to listen when Paul sings Kentucky Waltz... no one, and I mean no one, sings it like Paul. May The Lord bless you, Paul, for the many blessings you have brought to others with your talent.
Paul is truly a wonderful singer and I'm sure a wonderful person and brother in Christ. I've got to know a lot about his replacement Mike Rogers and love his musical abilities. Rickey you've done good.
Ricky, always love your music, your band is awesome, have seen you in concert twice, Paul is a great singer, amazing voice, Kentucky Waltz is one of my favorite songs, Ricky thanks for carrying on Bluegrass Music, I know Bill Monroe would be proud of all the accomplishments you have made in Bluegrass, also thank you for talking about the Lord and being a Christian ✝️
I made a point at a meet & greet with Ricky to tell him I thought the world of his talent...but ----his greatest songs featured the harmony voice of Paul Brewster!
Love love love to hear Paul sing!! Best tenor out there hands down!!! Sure do miss seeing him with Ricky. He sure left a void there. Praying for him that God gives Him a healing touch!!
Paul might be the best to ever do it. I do hate to see him not standing. His voice has no issues, guaranteed. I'll pray for Paul. A treasure in my years.
@@michaelmullins1290 One day we will have a totally new body, Michael. Totally new....happy....for ever alive. Its gonna be awesome !!!....just hold on for now and do the best you can for the Lord. Hope and Gods Promise is ours.....
I've been somewhat out of "Bluegrass circulation" for while, so I didn't realize that Paul Brewster was having problems or anything. I've seen the great Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder before in north Texas. As everyone knows, Ricky employs only the best musicians and of course Paul is no question great at his craft. I was fortunate to have also seen Ricky in east Texas as well back in 1985 during his fantastic "country music" phase of his legendary career. To my knowledge and memory, Paul was not yet in Ricky's band, and joined when Ricky returned to straight ahead, all-out bluegrass music and Kentucky Thunder. Prayers for Ricky, his family, AND his music family as well.🎻🙏🪕
Wish I would've made it to this show. It's hard to keep up with all the good shows and then also to make it to them all. But Ricky and the band always put on a GREAT show. Seen him and Paul perform about ten or so times together.
I had not heard of his retirement and so sad to think of him no longer with Ricky and KT. I see him sitting on a stool, is he having health problems? I got to see Ricky, Paul, and KT about 3 or 4 years ago now at The Nashville Palace. What a treat that was because Ricky was doing a special performance of all his country hits. I was singing along in the crowd at the top of my lungs. Anyway, I wish the Brewster the very best. We love you Paul.
Boy, I am glad I saw this. Glad to see Paul sing with Kentucky Thunder again. Paul Brewster wrote a song 20 some years ago called, "It is Finished" on his "Everybodys Talking" album. I think it is outstanding Gospel Bluegrass song that I know a group it would be perfect for them to use. However, I cannot find the music for this anywhere. Zachery Brewster, do you know where I could find the music for this? BTW - Does Paul have a problem standing and walking? IF so, is that why he retired from Kentucky Thunder?
Is it true that Paul Brewster had a stroke..I love him his voice is glorious.I will pray for him and send him healing thoughts,God bless you Paul.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰
What happened to Paul Brewster the past I seen of him he was quite lively and a great performer now I see on a video with Ricky Skaggs and needed help in walking off the stage I assume he had to have help getting to perform also could anyone answer this question
Russ, Your picking is just great, and I follow most of what you do....BUT, DUDE, you gotta quit walking off the stage & fussin' around...stay with the group!
Love this music, Paula and Ricky, the best of the best! Each band member is super!

Gary, Russ is stepping away to tune his banjo. He doesn’t want to be a distraction while getting back in tune.
