Good morning! Just a couple of additional notes from me which were cut from the video because it was already over half an hour long 🙈: There are of course lots of other high street/affordable price point brands that have cashmere collections BUT as always I only wanted to discuss the brands and pieces that I actually own and have experience with. These thoughts and my scores for these brands and their cashmere are all based on my personal experience and opinions, there will always be folks that disagree with me and have had different experiences to myself which is why I always urge you to check out other reviews to get a more thorough insight when making such a big purchase. I would also like to reiterate the point about high street brands and their constantly changing supply chain, whilst I have had mainly positive experiences with the items I have purchased from these brands over the years they may change their supplier at any time and the quality of their garments will then be subject to change, this could be positive but it could also be negative. There are also ethical questions that can be raised with regards to cashmere but I will leave this for you to research if you so choose, I have however left links in the description box (below the video) that you might find useful/informative to learn more about the RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) and the GCS (Good Cashmere Standard) as I mentioned in the video. Thank you for watching and enjoy the rest of your day x
I own 6 or 7 cashmere jumpers from Uniglo and it is brilliant for durability! I live in my jumpers from September to may and even with daily wear and semi-regular washes (using cool wool wash, they are good as new with barely any bobbling! 100% recommend
I gotta say, I am already a big fan of you creating these videos with rating systems. I think this is great for me at least to know before I buy. I've recently gotten into cashmere from watching your videos, and I'm loving all the good info you're giving out. The softness factor helps because I am someone who gets very itchy from fabrics. But all of this is good to know! Please do this type of video with your fall/winter coats. I so look forward to watching all your content and videos every week.
I have a Uniqlo cashmere turtleneck and a crew neck one. Love them both. Both bought before the pandemic… maybe in 2018. The turtleneck in particular is so durable and washes really well. I love the thinness of the crewneck because it slips under blazers really well. I prefer a thinner sweater for that reason.
I just wanted to mention..okay maybe long overdue. I’ve been watching your TH-cam channel from the beginning and you were always promoting the blazer/jacket. This was one of the most important item in your wardrobe. You are the one that started it all!! Now everyone, every Influencer/TH-camr is rapidly following👏! You’re not a follower! You are similar.. okay different but similar to Jo Good from Middle aged minx because you are both to me an “Original “! I’m 62 year old women. Happily Married since I’m in my 20’s. No kids. And I love your “I’ll do it my way” attitude.
I love that you always give information on sizing and what size you are wearing - it's a really helpful guide when purchasing online and is much appreciated! Re ARKET and COS sizing - I'm 6ft tall and generally buy M or L in jumpers from the women's range from these brands, depending on the cut and what effect/fit I want to achieve. I find that ARKET's L is generally a more generous fit that COS's L with the exception of t-shirts - I don't find either brand's regular fit t-shirts in a size L to be particularly generous in size and often only just fit me across the shoulders. The oversized fits in both brands are generally as described and are oversized. However, ARKET's claim that their size L fits up to a size 20 is ridiculous. I also find it frustrating that ARKET don't put the model size and height on their website so you just have to guess at whether an item will work for you. Indie brands often put the garment measurements in the sizing ie: length, width, leg length etc). This makes it easy to see which size would work in a particular item. Re Uniqlo, there are differences between the cashmere jumpers I bought more than four years ago and their newer ones (I'd say they are thinner now). Plus, they have increased their price quite considerably this year (especially the men's jumpers, which have gone up by £40). The cashmere jumpers I have had for more than four years I can say do wash, in the machine, and wear very well (I usually buy the men's in an XL for a very oversized look). I definitely think that Uniqlo's sizing has got more generous over the years - a 'small', a few years ago, was much smaller than it would be now and they have increased their sizing range in the women's. Plus I love that, as you mentioned, they give measurements for each garment. Sorry for long length of comment!
I wear a size 16 to 18 and the Arket L size works for me! I've also had great experience with COS cashmere in the past, on all levels. Great value for the money!
Good morning, Emma! Yay - After watching your video, I will definitely be adding to my cashmere collection (bf won't be that happy about it.. 😄) I bought my uniqlo turtlenecks (white, black, grey, navy) last October. I bought them specifically as layering pieces with blazer for example and have worn them A LOT over the last year. After a year I find them still as soft and as thick as in the beginning. I haven't noticed any change in their fit and am still as thrilled about them as I was when I bought them. I think it's great value for money and look forward to wearing them again this year! Have a great Sunday!
Love this type of video, we're getting the advantage of you experience, so we can make better choices. Cashmere is my Autumn/ Winter staple (with merino wool a hairs breath behind)! Must admit to loving a finer gauge over chunkier gauges as I'm petite and chunky knits can be a no no for me. So for me the thickness isn't a quality issue, but down to personal choice. I machine wash mine on a delicate cycle (and I always reduce the spin speed to the minimum. Most of mine is from Boden which is pricier than some other high street brands. I also have a few pieces from a Danish brand Club Collection - they are a company who have produced for others and now do their own direct to consumer items at reasonable prices. I did have a COS sweater, and will agree it is supersoft - the only reason I don't have it anymore is the style and colour was one I'd stopped reaching for.
A shout out for M&S men’s cashmere if you’re looking for something a bit more oversized. The men’s jumpers don’t come in as many colours, but they are slightly thicker than the women’s . And the collar and cuffs feel more durable. Love my black crewneck (have men’s small - I’m a uk women’s 12)
I have a men’s M&S cashmere half zip jumper but that was a bit thinner than my women’s cashmere from the Autograph range so maybe it’s just the classic crew necks that are thicker.
I have to thank you Emma! Bought my first cashmere jumper a few days ago, from Cos. Navy Blue Turtleneck…. Which I sized up in for an oversized look. (I’m a UK 10. Bought the Large, If anyones interested). Best knitwear I’ve ever worn! ❤
The cream COS sweater is $350 in the US 🥲 the prices over here are so inflated, but it’s definitely a wishlist item! Thank you for such a useful video! ❤
@@xmx005I think that Switzerland will price it higher, I think that they take advantage of the exchange rate and make sure that they always make a profit regardless of what the currency is actually doing.
I absolutely love cashmere. I have collected about fifty that I've had for over ten years varying from turtlenecks, crew necks, vee necks and cardigans also in a wide range of colors. My goal, at one point, was to have one in every color but fell a bit short. I'm still trying to find chocolate brown. 😆 Btw, all are thrifted for less than ten dollars.🥰❤️
I’ve had a navy uniqulo cashmere jumper since winter 2019 and it’s holding up beautifully. It’s my first and only cashmere experience so I don’t have a comparison point but I’ve washed and worn it LOADS and it’s held it’s shape and still looks as good as when I bought it. Will definitely be looking into the Cos chunky crew neck when it’s back in stock though 👀
I love this type of video! As a long time cashmere sweater fan, I too have noticed the importance of wash ability, thickness, and quality variation within brands. This video was extremely informative and I may have added some sweaters in my “to watch” list for Black Friday. Please do more videos like this!
These are the videos that I love. I travel to the UK every year and use your videos to determine which brands to check out in person while there. Also, your reviews take away the fear of ordering from online brands. I appreciate your opinions. Thanks 😊
I bought a bunch of cashmere tops from the Hong Kong M&S store because you gave it good reviews in a video you did a few years back. No regrets on the purchases and I'm still wearing all of them today! Totally agree with the ratings you gave, especially with regards to the slight change in quality of the cashmere.
A fabulous informative video, thank you Emma. I totally agree regarding M&S, I have pieces from previous seasons & this years doesn’t feel as soft instore. So I find myself gravitating towards John Lewis cashmere. For thicker pieces in classic colours I like the White Company too.
Hello from Japan! I own some UNIQLO crew neck cashmere jumpers and beanies for years, they wear and wash so well. I can’t compare the softness with other brands because I’ve never worn them, but now I really want to try COS after watching your rating! Thank you for such a useful video😘Have a lovely day!
Thank you for this, very helpful. I have several Uniqlo for a few years now, they still wear really well. I actually prefer that they are thinner, easier to layer under blazers. I also go for men's, they are slouchier, which is how I like to style my sweaters :)
A huge thank you Emma for such an informative and useful video. The amount of work and thought you put into this is priceless.I am creating a basic, timeless quality wardrobe and you are my inspiration. Thank you for sharing so much!❤
I love these videos! I have been looking for some knitwear for this season and this video has been really useful! I am also a big fan of Uniqlo, COS, and Arket. I think they are the best high street brands to look for basics and classic clothing 😊
Thanks for another great post Emma! I completely agree, Cos cashmere is amazing. I love all your content and look forward to your posts. I have made some great choices for my wardrobe this year thanks to you and most importantly more sustainable choices too x
This has come at THE perfect time for me as I’m just about to invest in my first cashmere and I’m absolutely drooling over your Cos jumpers, Omg the thickness!!!! 😲 Amazing content as usual Emma, happy Sunday lovely! X
Amazingly valuable as always!! Must say though that my experience with H&M premium cashmere blends has been horrendous. A cashmere + cotton blend hoodie and matching wide leg lounge trousers. I wore them for a few hours sitting still at my desk and a bit of walking. The fabric pilled SO RAPIDLY and SO BADLY that…no kidding…I had clouds of pilled fabric falling off me. I’ve worn cashmere for 20 years. I’ve NEVER seen anything so terrible. And it was not the least expensive cashmere I’ve ever owned!!! Far from it!! Shame on you H&M.
Urgh that sounds grim indeed! As I said, due to their ever changing supply chain and varying suppliers from one garment to the next it really can be hit and miss. I’ve got some really great pieces but I’ve seen others that simply don’t compare.
Such a super in depth video Emma, always appreciate the effort and information you put into your content. I don’t own a huge amount of cashmere (mainly beanies and socks) but do have a couple from M&S and H&M premium that have lasted well. With the current climate being what it is I don’t think I’ll be investing in any new pieces this year, but it’s great to know for potential future purchases where to look. ❤️
Loveeeddd this video, I am also a cashmere addict and have bought cashmere from all apart from M&S. 100% agree Cos wins hands down for its quality and thickness of cashmere, I believe this is due to its rigorous detail to their supply chain. With Uniqlo, I’ve always bought their mens cashmere jumpers as they an oversized slouchy fit, and most importantly, the cashmere is much much thicker than the womens, which to me is a bit on the thin side for a winter jumper. I’ve had these Uniqlo mens cashmere crewnecks for 5+ years and still look great, wash well and minimal bobbling.
I’m going to add some of these to my secondhand shopping list, but what I’d reeeeeeeally love is an updated blazer breakdown. Your favorites and tips and tricks for sizing. ❤
Tbh my blazer collection is mainly made up of my own blazers that I design in collaboration with The Curated. I kept a couple of older ones in colours we haven’t done yet but yeh, I got to design my perfect blazer so I have no need for any others now 🙌🏼
I ordered a few H&M cashmere jumpers this years… and was a little disappointed: the softness was here but… the shapes were really curious, especially for the sleeves that were very very long! For the Arket sizing (I discovered this brand with you), I am a 44 EU, wearing XL/XXL, and I bought a round neck and a roll neck with raglan sleeve cashmere jumpers both in size L and they fit perfectly (if it can help some of your chubby followers like me ;)
I'd bought a number of COS cashmere over the years I felt the quality has gone down quite a bit (prob of supplier issues as well) but its a still pretty good among the high street retailers. One thing that stands out is the range of colors, i think every season they would have a few "in season" colors
The Nearly New Cashmere Company is a great Preloved option. I’ve just bought a brand new Marks and Spencer Camel Crew Neck for £55. It didn’t say the brand on the website but the label is still in when I received it. I’d also recommend John Lewis Partners and The White Company.
Hello Emma! I really love your channel. Many thanks for this video. Also, I'm a huge cashmere lover :) Last year, I found out there were some tips for fixing cashmere and wool shrinkage. Use the same cold temperature for hand washing and rinsing, and add some ordinary hydrogen peroxide. Nearly one tablespoon while washing and 50 ml while last rinsing (let the item in this water mix for approximately 20 min). After that, you can stretch an item (when it is wet) and gently squeeze it into a towel. An additional bonus of using hydrogen peroxide is faster drying. I checked these tips personally. Hope they could be helpful. Wish you have a great day and looking forward to seeing you at the next videos!
Agree about m &s - my old cashmere are brilliant - wash like a dream…. New ones, not so much! I’m a 16/18 and the Arket crew wool/cashmere is perfect - lovely and oversized
Thank you for the Cos cashmere recommendation! I would never have looked at their selection had it not been for this video. I now own two of their cashmere jumpers - the one you have, except in black, and a navy turtleneck. Highly recommend.
Love cashmere! Can’t wear anything woolly itchy 😅 I have found a lot from charity shops but you have to know what to look for! and if you keep them good they’ll last for ever! Love the COS ones but here they are too expensive (I’m writing from Italy)
I've had uniqulo cashmere for about 4 years now. Wash and wear beautifully. Living in Australia I love the weight of these as they are not too hot and bulky (I still wear then every month beside Jan and Feb) I'm about a UK8/10 and wear a XS as a nice fitted look (not tight), M for a relaxed fit, and XL for an oversized slouchy look. I love that they come out with different colours each year.
So helpful! Thank you so much. I have had a Uniqlo cashmere crew neck for several years now and can attest it washes up very well (cold, lay flat to dry). I have even worn it skiing and hiking and am not a fussy laundry person in the least so for sure it is 'tough'. It basically looks like when I bought it.
You're spot on with the Uniqlo cashmere. They wash really really well and they seem to be durable. I've had mine for 2 years and it's still looking very good, hasn't lost his shape at all. But I have to say that I'm very sensitive and this was the first cashmere sweater that I've purchased and wouldn't purchase again as it is scratchy and itchy on me. I've tried wearing it underneath long-sleeved garments but it doesn't get very cold over here so it's currently being used by the hubby as a base layer for colder days as he loves being toasty and I don't.
Thank you Emma again always helpful information when it comes to clothing. I have ordered my first COS order and can’t wait to try them for my trip to NYC. On another note I’ve also ordered the curated coat bcuz you make them look so chic and stylish and it’s a bonus that the materials are all natural.
Love my Uniqlo cashmere jumpers. I’m a size 10 and have them in a medium, it is over size but not as oversized as I would like for a medium. They have upped the price and changed the shape to the 3D knit style this year, mine were £79 last year and the year before so gone up in price quite a bit.
I also have M&S, H&M, C&A, Uniqlo and Eric Bompard cashmere jumpers, which I've had for years except for the M&S one, which I purchased a few months ago. Among them, I would say the H&M one (I only have one fr H&M and and don't intend to buy again) is my least favourite. My fave is Eric Bompard though it's slightly more expensive than the others - very soft, high quality, just feels so luxurious. Next fave is M&S though I haven't washed it yet and have worn a few times. Uniqlo is also nice though the ones I have I've had for more than 4-5 yrs so maybe the quality/supplier is different fr the ones you have. The only thing I don't like about the Uniqlo ones is the length as I'm petite and they're too long for me. Your videos are always so informative. I actually purchased the M&S one bec of your videos! Thanks for another useful video!
i'm a big fan of quince cashmere. their prices are great and i've found their cashmere to be very soft and it wears well. i actually own a yarn company and know a lot about fiber and cashmere etc and from what i can gather, quince is pretty decent. i'm in no way an expert or anything but i can tell the difference between decent and total crap.
I must admit I’ve never heard of it before, I just checked it out and it’s in dollars so I’m assuming a US brand? A great option in which case for those in the US 🙌🏼
As usual I learned a lot from you. Terrific video. I’m very surprised at how much you upsized the Uniqlo brand. I also like a very large slouchy comfortable fit. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. It’s greatly appreciated. I always look forward to hearing from you. ❤️❤️❤️
Great video, really useful. I have big cashmere collection mostly M&S, Uniqlo and recently a couple of H&M pieces. Your so right about sizing, except for H&M ( which are oversized pieces) I have to size up one or two sizes to get the right fit. I’ve just bought my first John Lewis cashmere crew neck, I sized up one size, good range of colours, price very competitive, haven’t washed it yet so can’t comment. Definitely going to look at Cos for thicker pieces, my only hesitation is I’m only 5ft 2 in and the length of their jumpers may drown me 😂big thumbs up Emma for your reviews on cashmere loved loved loved !
Thank you Emma for all this cashmere info. So informative & well thought out. I don’t own any 100% cashmere but now I feel I can make an informed choice & take the plunge! Thanks again. ❤️
Hi Emma :) I own cashmere frome COS, Uniqlo and really old ones from &other stories, that said, COS is also my favourite by far. Regarding the washability of Uniqlo, my pieces are 2 and 3 years old, where as the older one is still fine, the newer one developed a weird kind of fluffy texture, a bit like angora, but not that extreme, just not as flat as it used to be (don't know how to describe it better), despite washing it on cold with special cashmere detergent. I kind of have the feeling that the thinner, less expensive cashmere tends to to that more, whereas COS cashmere doesn't, even the thinner pieces from them (speaking of the classic COS cashmere crew neck). On the other hand Uniqlo really doesn't pill...but the fluffy texture prevents me from wearing it, so I guess in the future I will probably gravitate to COS completely. Thank you for your video, it was really interesting seing your collection, especially the navy COS cashmere jumper I regret not buying in the last year, maybe the mens navy crew neck will be an alternative.
I do own uniqlo cashmere 3D v neck sweater which is confortable and durable. It has been more than a couple of years but still in good condition. This is thick and warm enough and sometimes too warm in Tokyo. This year, I bought mens crew neck cashmere sweater in grey, medium size from COS which I am looking forward to try.
As you mentioned second hand cashmere, I saw a pop up shop for Nearly New recently. It’s all refurbished pieces so they all looked in really nice condition. They had an amazing Ralph Lauren half zip jumper that I really regret not buying.
Have many Uniqlo cashmere jumpers over a few years , they wear brilliantly and wash so well, the older ones may have stretch at the wrists but else where are very good , can upsize into the mens range, also have cashmere from M&S Gap and H&M plus a few premium brands as well
you can buy a basic cashmere sweater for 45$ and up in the US.. usually no name but a store brand , or like a winter special/sale .. I usually buy one every winter so very soon I will have a nice cashmere collection 😊😊👏👏
I’ve bought uniqlo cashmere a couple years back and one last year I think and so far it’s been really good. Idk if cashmere pills at all but the uniqlo ones don’t really do that and they tend to keep the shape. The sizing isn’t the greatest (it’s a Japanese brand) but if you are petite or incredibly slim then finding your size will be easier
Hi Emma, thank you for the video. It helped me a lot. I have started buying cashmere jumpers in men section in Mango. I have two of them and it's great quality. I have been considering buying a jumper from COS, but I will have to save up for it for a bit.
I’m not sure if they ship to the UK, but Naadam is one of my favorite cashmere brands.I buy from the women’s and men’s section for different fits. Quince is a nice brand as well but not as well made IMO as Naadam.
Hi. Nice videos. I'm a size 18/20 and do buy some arket BUT I can only buy the oversized styles and they are fine for me as I like the fit but they are not oversized on me. Shame because they would get more custom from me if they were more size inclusive.
I usually buy my cashmere jumpers from M&S when they’re on sale. My thickest, most luxurious cardigan was from Fat Face. One year they seemed to do them in beige or grey, but I’ve never seen them in that quality again.
Hi Emma! I completely agree with your review of COS cashmere, it's a DREAM!!! I am obsessed. I also check their website from time to time to see whether there is anything new in their cashmere collection
Brilliant as always! Well done and thank you. Just acquired an airy shawl from Kashmina of Norway and am super impressed. They give the gauge or thread thickness of garments in their discription box. Use full info when shopping online.
That’s great, lots of the more premium brands or brands that just focus on cashmere production in general give the ply which is so useful, but they don’t come with high street prices so for a lot of people they’re not affordable x
Thank you Emma ! So useful I was all ears !!! However I don't share your opinion about Arket cashmere... at least the slouchy rollneck I have (priced 190 euros in W. Europe). It is not soft at all compared to the 4 other cashmere pieces I own, is a nightmare to wash & dry, and have more pillings than any of my other ones. I won't be buying from them again. For reference I am a very tall uk12 / FR40 and I ordered a size M, it is slightly oversized on me.
I have had my Uniqlo cashmere now for five years of intensive wear. Superb washability, they seem to get softer after a couple of washes. After 5 years though the fabric at the elbows is becoming thinner
100% love same brands ♥ I have a personal preference on Arket and Cos which I have some amazing items, really really good quality and at this point you remember me with this video I need more new pieces of those :D LOVE cashmere NOT so expensive with a very good quality ♥ and they are
I wore my first cashmere of the season yesterday! In Denver Colorado. I have several pieces from the Nordstrom Signature line. I was happy and cozy all day long yesterday.
Love the video! I think it's more helpful to focus the comparison on current items, no point in reviewing items that are no longer made (in the same quality).
This video is *essential* and so well done, Sunday made better! All my favourite high street brands in one video 💛 I managed to find an 100% Uniqlo off white cashmere reduced to £59.99 last October and I have never bought something quicker - have washed it 6-7 times and it washes *really* well on cold and it's a bit thicker than what I've seen in store this year 💯 Will definitely check COS out bc they keep coming on top for me over Arket somehow. I will likely also buy the Apostrophe one for my mum due to the inclusive sizes 🥰 thanks Emma as always ☺️
I love cashmere but I’m scared to buy it due to my jumper nurturing abilities. I love your vids and because of you, me and my hubby are now a firm fan of arket and cos ! Thank you xx
I have Uniqlo cashmere that are ab. 10 y old and I'm still wearing them. They are from Japan shops, I travel there a lot. Uniqlo is my alla time favorite.
The best high street cashmere ever was ASOS white. So sad they no longer do cashmere - I have 3 amazing jumpers from several years ago still going strong.
Regarding Uniqlo cashmere - I own two classic crewnecks that were purchased in 2018. They have held up really well, but I think they’ve changed the knit since then. Mine are not the 3D knit that is shown online. One other note - I noticed while shopping in the NYC flagship last year that the mens cashmere felt MUCH softer than the womens! Not sure if that still holds true, but something to think about when ordering.
I’m so glad I watched. I have a cashmere long cardigan from The White Company. It is heaven to wear. You need to look at them. The only negative thing is that they don’t go past a size 16/18. Although I’m a 22 and wear their XL in the right style. Cashmere is on my Xmas list 😂❤
I have actually had TWC cashmere before but it was too thin for my personal liking which is why I would buy again. For a very similar price I would much rather opt for Cos which is much much thicker and softer in my opinion. That’s great feedback on the sizing, thank you x
I have Uniqlo cashmere turtlenecks that are three years old and they still look like new. I have never washed them so maybe because of that. I always wear longsleeves underneath.
Love this video! I have a lot of cashmere from Talbots a US brand. I love your plaster art. Have you thought of pressing some shell imprint for a fossilized look?
Thank you for this video! I'm heading to London (from the US) this coming Saturday and want to pick up a wearable souvenir. This will help me as I'm shopping my heart out!
I've had a couple of pieces of cashmere from Uniqlo and personally wouldn't recommend. I don't need thick cashmere living in Australia but I find it a lower quality than some other cashmere I have bought. It has lasted about 3 years so far.
I would love to see a video on Massimo Dutti Cashmere! Thinking of purchasing the Uniqlo cashmere to try this year. I am in Canada. I usually purchase cashmere sweaters from the Saks Off Fifth Outlet every year. Love them!
I’ve only had one cashmere jumper from Massimo Dutti and it was really thick but it was from their limited edition range. Since buying that in early 2020 I’ve never seen anything else like it from them so tbh I wouldn’t bother buying their regular cashmere when I know I can get the basics elsewhere with less of an inflated price tag.
I have the COS crew neck in black and 2 of The Curated turtle neck cashmere which I purchased a week ago (saw your video last week that you wore the COS cashmere and I had to get it). I gotta say the COS is thick but not as soft as the Curated. I have other cashmeres from other brands. The COS softness doesn't feel like cashmere in my opinion. It feels more like regular wool. The COS Cashmere is $290 USD+tax which is a little overpriced for the quality. I think The Curated is a better value and quality.
Did I open the COS website while watching this? Maybe... I have cashmere from Mango, H&M Premium and J.Crew and I will say that the cashmere I ordered from H&M was not as soft as it was over a year ago. It makes sense that they changed suppliers because it felt completely different
I bought all of my Uniqlo cashmere sweaters 15 years ago, and they haven't changed at all since then; I absolutely love them!!! I haven't bought any new cashemere pieces from Uniqlo since then (as I simply haven't had a need for new cashmere garments), so I sadly can't comment on their new range. 😕 Both Massimo Dutti and John Lewis also have great cashmere range - check them out :)
Bought a cashmere cardigan from Uniqlo last year but it was a collaboration with J+, very soft and much thicker than their own brand. Definitely wouldn’t recommend “everlane” cashmere, shrunk too much even after cold wash and air dry. There is another brand in Canada call “lord and Taylor” idk if UK has it, it’s an affordable brand. Their cashmere is $70CAD, so 50ponds.
Bravo 👏 SUCH a useful video. And you get extra points for being cost conscious 👌 With the world economy these days I actually get turned OFF by some of my otherwise favorite youtubers as they seem to totally ignore the present economic climate (or maybe just cannot relate 🙄).
Hi Emma, thanks for the video! I just love cashemere and have many items. 🥰 I think the wool added in Arket jumpers is Merino wool so that’s why it’s so soft. My Uniqlo jumpers wash and wear very well. My older ones are thicker and softer but I agree that they are less soft than M&S although it depends on the color (light colors are softer). I haven’t tried Cos yet but now I definitely will! 🤗
Yes it’s Merino wool so that does indeed add to the softness but technically still should be as soft as 100% cashmere which is why it’s great as it’s much harder wearing and not as delicate as 100% cashmere 🙌🏼 I must admit my Uniqlo cashmere all feels the same, whether it be the cream or the black but someone else has commented that the men’s cashmere is softer than the women’s so I’m gonna go and have a fondle next time I’m at Bluewater 🤣
Keeping in mind that COS in other European countries seems to be somewhat overpriced compared to the uk price tag; for example the striped funnel-neck one is being sold for the equivalent of 340£ where I live.
this was so helpful! thank you so much!! forever sad that arket doesnt ship to the us :( hopefully someday! i can't wait to check out the other brands you mentioned though!!

Thank you for watching and enjoy the rest of your day x
Emma, is that COS black and white stripe an actual white or soft white? Ive seen it on the website and it looks cream. Thanks!
@@aliormiston it’s not a stark white but I wouldn’t call it cream. It’s not yellow enough to be cream, it’s definitely an off white though x
I own 6 or 7 cashmere jumpers from Uniglo and it is brilliant for durability! I live in my jumpers from September to may and even with daily wear and semi-regular washes (using cool wool wash, they are good as new with barely any bobbling! 100% recommend
Thank you for posting this, I just bought one and I hope that I can keep it looking great 😃👍.
That’s really helpful, thank you for sharing ❤️
Good morning, Emma! Yay - After watching your video, I will definitely be adding to my cashmere collection (bf won't be that happy about it.. 😄)
I bought my uniqlo turtlenecks (white, black, grey, navy) last October.
That’s great to hear 🙌🏼
Thank you that is helpful.
and in spain/france is much cheaper than the uk/us prices so i guess its just the euro shops are better priced in in their actual homeland
@@alana.gr_1345 I lived in Europe and the price for the stripe sweater is 390chf.
@@xmx005I think that Switzerland will price it higher, I think that they take advantage of the exchange rate and make sure that they always make a profit regardless of what the currency is actually doing.
We pay 1/3 more or even sometimes double as much (plus custom fees) for US brands in the EU.
Cashmere thrifting Queen right here 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
you have to reveal your amazing thrifting sources with us!
Thanks 😊
I’m so happy that you find them useful 🥰 thank you for watching and for the support x
I really appreciate your sensitivity around the issue of price, Emma. ❤
Thrilled to hear this ❤️🙌🏼
A fabulous informative video, thank you Emma.
Just pop in to a store for a quick stroke if nothing else 😜
Thank you for this, very helpful. I have several Uniqlo for a few years now, they still wear really well. I actually prefer that they are thinner, easier to layer under blazers. I also go for men's, they are slouchier, which is how I like to style my sweaters :)
Agreed! It's nice to have thinner cashmere pieces too so you're not too hot indoors after removing some layers 😊
Thank you for including size friendly information on these brands!
A huge thank you Emma for such an informative and useful video. The amount of work and thought you put into this is priceless.I am creating a basic, timeless quality wardrobe and you are my inspiration.
Thank you for sharing so much!❤
Thank you for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed it x
Sooooo squidgy and cosy 🙌🏼☺️
Also, I'm a huge cashmere lover :)
Last year, I found out there were some tips for fixing cashmere and wool shrinkage.
I think a large is 16-18 and an xl 18-20. However, it is inconsistent. Great review thank you xx
You nailed this video Emma! You should make it a series! Rating difference items from high street brands! I trust everything u day and suggest
I’m not sure I have enough categories to make a series. I’ve done denim before so I could probably do an updated one of those x
Love cashmere!
Can’t wear anything woolly itchy 😅
I have found a lot from charity shops but you have to know what to look for! and if you keep them good they’ll last for ever!
I’ve gotten great second hand clothes from etsy actually!
Also Uniqlo is amazing for both men and women!
Ahhh amazing, I hope you like and enjoy your new purchases and have an amazing time in NYC 😃
Great video. Would love such a collection. Have bought a couple from Marks, thanks to your older videos, and very pleased with them.
Sorry Emma. I don’t have Telegram. I’ve written you via your website.
Oh the purchase that got away 😩
Ugh every week you just hit me with a perfect video🤔. Like this one, I didn't know I needed it, and I see it, I absolutely love it.
Haha well I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope it was useful in some way ❤️
Have many Uniqlo cashmere jumpers over a few years , they wear brilliantly and wash so well, the older ones may have stretch at the wrists but else where are very good , can upsize into the mens range, also have cashmere from M&S Gap and H&M plus a few premium brands as well
you can buy a basic cashmere sweater for 45$ and up in the US.. usually no name but a store brand , or like a winter special/sale ..
Thanks Emma! I've ordered a couple of Cos pieces
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do mine ❤️
Absolutely! x
What a great video. I fell for the Cos sweater but uncertain about the size.
I usually buy my cashmere jumpers from M&S when they’re on sale. My thickest, most luxurious cardigan was from Fat Face. One year they seemed to do them in beige or grey, but I’ve never seen them in that quality again.
I love how much detail you give, Emma. I have to try a COS cashmere! Thank you!
Hi Emma! I completely agree with your review of COS cashmere, it's a DREAM!!! I am obsessed. I also check their website from time to time to see whether there is anything new in their cashmere collection
Cos Creepers Not-So-Anonymous 😜
Brilliant as always! Well done and thank you. Just acquired an airy shawl from Kashmina of Norway and am super impressed. They give the gauge or thread thickness of garments in their discription box. Use full info when shopping online.
That’s great, lots of the more premium brands or brands that just focus on cashmere production in general give the ply which is so useful, but they don’t come with high street prices so for a lot of people they’re not affordable x
I own a similar V-neck from Uniqlo sweater that’s ~5 y/o. And it has held up well. Just discovered COS cashmere while shopping for a white t-shirt. 🥰
100% love same brands ♥ I have a personal preference on Arket and Cos which I have some amazing items, really really good quality and at this point you remember me with this video I need more new pieces of those :D
LOVE cashmere NOT so expensive with a very good quality ♥ and they are
I wore my first cashmere of the season yesterday! In Denver Colorado. I have several pieces from the Nordstrom Signature line. I was happy and cozy all day long yesterday.
Love that cosy cashmere feeling 🙌🏼
Love the video! I think it's more helpful to focus the comparison on current items, no point in reviewing items that are no longer made (in the same quality).
This video is *essential* and so well done, Sunday made better! All my favourite high street brands in one video 💛
I managed to find an 100% Uniqlo off white cashmere reduced to £59.99 last October and I have never bought something quicker - have washed it 6-7 times and it washes *really* well on cold and it's a bit thicker than what I've seen in store this year 💯
Will definitely check COS out bc they keep coming on top for me over Arket somehow.
It’s definitely a high maintenance fabric that needs caring for in order for it to last 😘
O, Emma, that grey HaM cashmere casual suit looks so comfortable and looks lovely.😅
I have got the same m/s jumpers as you love them so soft wash lovely put them on a wool wash and never move ❤❤
I have Uniqlo cashmere that are ab. 10 y old and I'm still wearing them. They are from Japan shops, I travel there a lot. Uniqlo is my alla time favorite.
COS cashmere is of amazing quality. Something I'll keep for many, many years.
The best high street cashmere ever was ASOS white. So sad they no longer do cashmere - I have 3 amazing jumpers from several years ago still going strong.
Always love the basics, especially the t shirts from Uniqlo, quality and value
Regarding Uniqlo cashmere - I own two classic crewnecks that were purchased in 2018. They have held up really well, but I think they’ve changed the knit since then. Mine are not the 3D knit that is shown online. One other note - I noticed while shopping in the NYC flagship last year that the mens cashmere felt MUCH softer than the womens! Not sure if that still holds true, but something to think about when ordering.
You’re not the only one to say that about the men’s cashmere. I’m going to go and feel the difference next time I’m at Bluewater x
The Uniqlo gets mega soft with time! ❤ Love it!
Great Video. Love the topic. I bought a couple of cashmere from Marks and Spencer before too. love the items xxx
It’s an interesting idea but not my cup of tea I’m afraid x
Thank you for this video! I'm heading to London (from the US) this coming Saturday and want to pick up a wearable souvenir. This will help me as I'm shopping my heart out!
Enjoy your trip, I hope you’ve got waterproofs 🙊
Hi, Thanks for the real deal on these brands and the fabric options. Your thoughts are valued. It's really what puts your channel ahead of the game!
Thank you for a high street focused video! Love your luxury picks but high street is my budget.
Both Massimo Dutti and John Lewis also have great cashmere range - check them out :)
This is great news!
I have a John Lewis piece but only 1 and their range isn’t very extensive which I didn’t include them, same for Massimo Dutti x
Yes it’s Merino wool so that does indeed add to the softness but technically still should be as soft as 100% cashmere which is why it’s great as it’s much harder wearing and not as delicate as 100% cashmere 🙌🏼
I must admit my Uniqlo cashmere all feels the same, whether it be the cream or the black but someone else has commented that the men’s cashmere is softer than the women’s so I’m gonna go and have a fondle next time I’m at Bluewater 🤣
Oh really? Then I will check the men’s jumpers as well! 😏
Keeping in mind that COS in other European countries seems to be somewhat overpriced compared to the uk price tag; for example the striped funnel-neck one is being sold for the equivalent of 340£ where I live.
Thank you Emma for sharing this information! This is exactly what I need right now!
this was so helpful! thank you so much!! forever sad that arket doesnt ship to the us :( hopefully someday! i can't wait to check out the other brands you mentioned though!!
