DIY Chandelier - Farmhouse Style

  • I made a DIY chandelier to match my farmhouse table. I made it of two 2x4's, some copper pipes, a copper chain and 5 beautiful light bulbs.
    I stained the chandelier the same color as the table and the benches and it turned out great. It's a mix of farmhouse style and industrial design. I used copper because it looks wonderful with the blue kitchen walls.
    If you want to build this chandelier you should use paralell connection on the light bulbs (it's super easy, just do a search on google on how to do it). I bought classic connectors or "sukkerbit" as we call it here in Norway. However, I found out that they are illegal to use in household installations so I discovered some new connectors called Wago. They do cost a little more but are so much better (and super easy to use).
    Get Wago connectors here (affiliate link): amzn.to/2jnDIWZ
    (I use the ones with 5 connectors, but you can combine in any way you want)

    Very nice build. You have given me a couple of ideas for some lighting I am installing. An extra thumbs up for the kid noise in the background. Their noise is like sweet music!

    Finally found a similar project hoping to avoid some shopping lol was also looking to see if anyone has used glass tubing around the copper as conduit, wanted to use copper tube to complete circuit an fill inside of copper tube with LED light and holes drilled in for extra ambience and some of those mini lights to float withing the glass tube area.

    I have made something similar for my dining table, although a bit more rustic with a genuinely destroyed by nature piece of oak. Very nice project Dieter!

    Hi Dieter! Love your videos, truly inspiring work you do.
    Would love to see a video of your various tools and machines, and maybe why you have the ones you have. The guillotine miter i.e. is really interesting, never seen that before. But I am new in this whole woodworking-hobby 🙂
    Cheers!

    Kult prosjekt og fin lampe! det kan hende jeg stjeler denne ideen til et prosjekt på hytta... Hva slags blad hadde du på båndsaga da du skar i kobberrørene?

    • @DieterSchneider
      @DieterSchneider  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Takker. Stjel i vei :) Husker ikke hvor mange tenner pr. tomme, men sagblad med "fine" tenner funker helt fint til kobber.

    Do you ever find walnut in Norwegian lumber warehouses?

    • @DieterSchneider
      @DieterSchneider  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, only in special shops or at private importers. And it's crazy expensive.

    I hope that old connector doesn't get banned in Belgium yet, I have a big load waiting to be used. But that new connector seems really handy. But I don't like that it isn't white. We call the old connector 'sugar cube' since is resembles a bit a sugar cube, small and white, but for the new one it is transparent and yellow, so that name wouldn't work. Maybe we should call the new one the Dutchman connection..

    • @DieterSchneider
      @DieterSchneider  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It worked really great and much easier to work with than the sugar cubes. The first generation of wago I think was gray (but a little bigger). I liked that it was transparent because it makes it easy to see how far you have to push the wire.

    • @workshoponwheels4936
      @workshoponwheels4936 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dieter Schneider yeah I can imagine it being handier. But if I ever have kids, that would make me have to explain why we call that sort of connector a sugar cube. I have never seen a transparent with orange sugar cube. If they are as dense as me, that will be a tough job. But it does make connecting easier and probably safer.

      These Wagos are great when you are low on space for the connectors. The older grey ones are just as good, just bigger and cheaper ☺️

    Hi Dieter, thank you for the video.
    I have finally found what I was trying to find for a long time.
    Would you please tell me a bit more about those connectors and how to set them to be able to put all those wires into one and connect it to ceiling, please ...?
    Thank you and sorry for my English ...

    Yup, they don't meet the requirements for our regulations or something like that. It's the same for Sweden, except they have a 10 year transition phase.
    I don't think they're illegal to have in your house, they're just illegal to use on new stuff.
