Eagle rune also has the hidden benefit of having higher dps than scholar when it usually matters the most. Most big bossfights get more difficult the lower the target's hp.
A lot of classes also have traits that increase their damage as an enemies HP gets lower. So that 10% bonus on Eagle scales even better off a higher base damage. It's a shame a lot of the precision goes to waste on most classes though.
@@connorconcarne Dragon's gear can be a gamechanger in this respect though. It has low precision but higher ferocity. It is I believe already the case that replacing one or two Zerker pieces with Dragon increases DPS. I personally like to use Eagle on Scrapper as it allows to use more Diviner's gear (i.e. concentration thus more quickness) while still hitting critcap.

You could also have mentioned that rune of the rebirth is more healing than monk on *yourself.* This makes it a very good rune for kiting orange shots on KO CM, while also having that failsafe if you mess up.
Good point about the additional self healing. Rebirth is nice if you need to have an extra failsafe. It's a nice extra chunk of barrier you get once the 6th bonus triggers. You just have to be fairly on point to make sure you heal up before the barrier expires.
for the dungeon based runes you no longer have to run specific dungeons they now have a universal currency that assuming you've run that dungeon once before you can buy rewards from it.

Well you just saved me from needing to come up with another video idea. Cheers haha. They do give you a nice extra chunk of stats (almost 200 extra stat points which ain't nothing). Usually if I don't plan on doing Fractals on a character I'd grab the WVW infusions which just cost Laurels and Badges of Honour.

You could use them in endgame content and if you know your class well enough I doubt people would notice. The best runes I mentioned in my previous video would help you eek out some extra performance though.
I don't think there is a great budget option for Rune of the Elementalist if you just want extra power and condi damage. The closest I could find was Rune of the Soulbeast, it's fairly cheap but the 6th bonus is kind of wasted. Rune of Divinity is another option but will give you some wasted stats (still what I would pick if I was in a pinch). Although these options aren't insanely cheaper to the point where I wouldn't just save up for Elementalist Runes anyway :-/
On the complete other side of the spectrum: Legendary runes are severely underrated. They may not be shiny like the weapons but if you have a lot of alts and switch builds a lot, legendary runes are worth every penny.
Completely true! Legendary runes are absolutely god-tier in terms of quality of life and are only really beat out by having all three sets of legendary armor (IMO). Not having to worry about buying and replacing account bound runes again is such a lifesaver.
Great video for information, but please in the future try to avoid some boss fights that are huge spoilers. I'm a pretty new player, came here for budget runes but got spoiled on seemingly pretty huge plot points from the background fights. Without any knowledge that I would get spoilers since this video was for new players.
To be honest I'm a bit confused why people like scholar's over rune of the eagle so much. Scholar's is 5% damage (IF above 90% hp) while eagle is 10% below 50% hp. In other words, both average 5% more damage, but eagle's is NOT conditional, it's just always up. But the real reason I think eagle's is so MUCH better than scholar's is that a LOT of bosses or tough enemies in the game become more challenging as certain health thresholds are reached. With the exception of a few bosses that actually become easier on low HP (Deimos 10%, Mathias 40%, dhuum last phase), most other bosses actually have enrage mechanics or otherwise only have their full set of abilities at the end of the fight. That makes damage on LOW health MUCH better than what it would be purely mathematically. So I'm not really sure why we're so obsessed with scholar's... Sure, power > precision, but some builds are running scholar's + sigil of accuracy to cap crit... those builds would probably have a much better time with rune of the eagle and a different sigil.
It helps to know where these picks come from. These are considered the mathmatical best runes you can have. These picks come from raid speed clearing guilds that are trying for the fastest raid clears possible. They know the boss fights inside and out and know their dps rotations so well they can practically do them in their sleep. Unfortunately A LOT of people take these builds and team comps as gospel without considering who the people are who use these builds. For your average player eagle is very likely better because you're not going to have over 90% health at all times. Also certain builds have very complex or long skill rotations which can make the fight even harder. luckily members of the community have been putting out low intensity or easier rotations that still hit very hard. Check out mrmystic for some really nice dps rotations that hit extremely hard and dont require a super long skill list and weapon swaps.

Its a really nice Rune in Raids and Strikes when there is not much pressure on the Healer and has the ability to stop" healer is dead "wipes.
I really like the flock rune on classes with super low cooldown on the healskill
They're honestly not bad at all especially considering how cheap they are.

why is the rune of infiltration not the best then? gets the same damage modifier as rune of the eagle and also gives power
