Hi Brooke, I am so glad that you rescued DeeDee! I am renting a house which I love ( and lived in 10 years ago) but I am not able to have a dog. So, I get my “dog fix” other ways. One of those ways is to watch vlogs with dogs in them. I love your dogs!! I especially love DeeDee and Holly! Happy 2024 to you and your family! Elizabeth Goodrich, Texas
Dee Dee definitely looks younger and more alive since you’ve had her, to be blunt, when she first arrived she looked like she was not long for this world.
DeeDee's such a wonderful little dog ❤❤❤. I am so glad she's your travel companion ana that you're feeling better, Brooke ❤❤❤❤. I pray the blood test will get you on your way to much better health 😉
Good Morning Brooke I'm so glad you're finally getting a test for you to see what is going on with your health 💝 Prayers for you and your Family 🙏 and DeeDee 💞🙏 🥰
You can use the old curtains to measure for the yardage needed for the new ones. If in doubt just take the old ones with you to the fabric shop. Feel better and happy sewing.
Prayers for test results that will lead you in the right direction for healing. Love those kitties, they are so cute and DeeDee always looks totally content and happy when she is with her mommy.
I am keeping you, Jason, MaryCarl and your Momma in my prayers as you go and have the testing down for your auto-immune disease. Praying that they find out a solution to help you feel more like yourself. It is hard not to see you in the videos with Jason and seeing your beautiful smile. Take care of yourself, Brooke. We love seeing you. Out and about on the farm. Love to you all!
Brooke, you could put a white curtain on the back side of the green so it wouldn't fade again. Can't wait to see the bus finished. Love you all ❤ Hope all goes well with your tests. Take good care of you
Some white liner materials have UV A & B BLOCKING abilities. Good for fabrics & PEOPLE, too. There are also various strengths of light blackout, to keep out lights in day & night, & prevent others from seeing the interior.
Brooke my dear i am a 65 year old English man battling 2 types of cancer you are younger and stronger than me you will get through this. Thanks. Chris from England
Brooke you always have the most interesting adventures. I love that you are brave enough to just jump in and try something new like dying the material! Continued prayers for you 🙏 ❤️
I am glad the ball is rolling now regarding your testing to hopefully pinpoint your specific health issues, to get you back on the road of recovery. praying. love seeing the kitties and DeeDee and Holly wanting attention.
Cant wait to see how all the new curtains and seats turn out! Such a great family project! Good luck with the c.t scan ! Many blessings and Love from Ks 💚💙💚
You can line the curtains with white or cream fabric to keep them from fading. My Mom used to make curtains out of flat sheets and sh would make a backing for them from a white sheet and it does help! Hope you get some news about your blood test and your scan! Praying for you💕🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💕
Your like me Brooke, if I have a project to work on, I just do my best. You never know if something is going to work or not until you try it. prayers for your medical issues and test results. Love you all.❤️😊
Glad You are feeling up to working on the VW Bus.. You Tried to keep the curtains and it was a improvement for sure.. But just means more Videos for Us Cog Squad to watch.. Neat how Jason & MaryCarl was out in the Barn working on the Bus and You was inside Milk room working on the Bus.. LOL We All are Praying for the Best out come possible..
I am old enough to remember that they used snaps before Velcro was invented. Might be an easier alternative to sewing in snaps. I bet Dee Dee is 50% Sugar Bear… You could also use magnates if that strip of metal is steel.
Brooke. If had washed the curtains first with a little bleach I think you would have had better results. The bleach water would have evened out the streaks some, lightened the fabric too. I have better success doing it that way. Plus, I'm sure the curtains had quite of bit of dirt in them which hinders the dye process. Why not try washing them with a little bleach and try again. Can't hurt. Cannot wait to see the bus all finished. I'm a 60's gal.
The bus is so cool, and im sure the curtains will turn out good if you make them 😁 Good Luck on your scan... You are looking good Brooke❣️ Have a blessed day Y'all 💜💜💜
Great to see you up and about!❤ Love to see it classic green again! My first car I bought in 1971 was a lime green Chevy Nova Super Sport 4 on the floor with a racing stripe and a black landau roof( black on 1/2 the roof) Loved that car even though it got a whopping 7mpg!!!(it had a 4 barrel carburetor, but gas was around .40-.50 a gal!) This VW will come out looking great! God Bless! ( Praying for good results on your tests) 13:57
Brooke it's nice to see you smiling. My nephew has an autoimmune disease as well hang in there little lady and know I'm praying for you. I have always been encouraged by you, the strength you display during difficult times and the amazing wife and mother you are AND daughter. Please!!! If you need anything let me know. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers always. Love and hugs ❤😊
When I was born, my folks had a small grocery store. We sold RIT in small boxes, that contained a paper pouch of dry powder. That was waaaaay before you were born, Miss Brooke.
Prayers for a speedy recovery from Covid. Thinking of you all. Glad you’re getting the tests needed for a result of what is happening. Your becoming a Susie homemaker for sure. ❤
I've used that Rit dye more to dye some 50/50 T-shirts and ran into the same problem. Not only did it not darken the areas I wanted it to, but because of my physical disability I couldn't stand there and stir it the entire 30 minutes. My T-shirts came out all streaky and looking like tie dyed shirts! I was not best pleased! 😢
Why don't you order more fabric that you are using to fix the seats with and have that guy make your curtains. That was cute fabric, and then it would match.
I usually keep up on things that has to do with crafts, But I did not know they made A dye for a different materials other than cotton. Your wood spoon came out a beautiful color. Praying that they will find what is going on with your health so Things can be turned around for you. Blessings to you and the family
Brooke I'll be thinking about you tomorrow best of luck with your procedure. Today was interesting for me to watch this dye video, i also dye with Rit ,the hot water is the ticket. Bless ya'll
I believe polyester has closed cells. whatever you are using, will sit on top of the fabric instead of being absorbed like cotton cotton. To die wool you also have to boil it. There are fabric paints that can be used. The company i love is, Rupert Gibbon and spider. They make Jacard products. Might be able to help you.
Love how Dee Dee is your shadow. She knows that you saved her life. About the cat going camping with you: my cat, Tinker (like a gold smith, not the fairy) frequently went camping with us. Once there was a man at the near by lake, shooting carp with arrows, and Tinker stole one of them, dragging the fish, that was easily more than twice her 5#, about a quarter mile back to camp. The archer was completely charmed by our tiny little theif. Tinker was LEGEND!
The VW Bus is a true family project. I love that. MaryCarl is also building lifetime memories with her loving parents. That is awesome parenting! Re the curtains, you might want to consider purchasing 'blackout fabric' for the curtains. That would pretty much eliminate future fading concerns. It's possible you could add blackout fabric behind the curtains you dyed and it would minimize the appearance of the faded areas. I haven't utilized blackout fabric in years but back then it did not have to be hemmed. Just cut to the size you need, stitch it to the area just below the rod pocket and it's ready to install. I would also add a stitch, by hand, to secure the lower corners in-place. (In order to be thrifty you could check Salvation Army and Goodwill for a curtain that has a blackout liner. You probably need 2 to 3 yards or so, just guessing dependong on width from the pieces I saw. I checked online, Hobby Lobby sells white, 54" wide, medium heavyweight sold only by the yard online for $9.99. This one is washable. I believe this info if online info only. It seems they also sell it in stores, if there's a Hobby Lobby easily accessible. Walmart, JoAnns, Amazon - all sell blackout fabric. Maybe not in the store but those are options. You could also purchase a sturdy twin sheet and make a lining. A light to medium weight would definitely suffice. No reason to overload those important curtain rods. The current curtains certainly lasted a long time without any lining. But anything my parents worked on for me was always priceless.)
Brooke, you get an A+ for giving it your best shot. It’s strange that the dye didn’t take to the sun bleached lines though. Oh well, there’s always a plan B. Prayers for your test results. ❤
You could always add appliqués/iron on patches/simple patchwork. If the fabric doesn't work out then maybe use it as liners for new curtains or recycle the fabric into shopper and drawstring bags. Obviously you reuse all the findings and attachments.
Hope all goes well with the scan and great job I love the color although it wasnt what you wanted and its still a bit striped. New fabric will last a long time so i think thats best anyway. Love yall!
It warms my heart to see how special DeeDee is to you, Brooke. She’s living her best life, for sure!💕
It's so nice to see you feeling better...your smile is reaching your eyes again and the twinkle is back...happy projects on the bus😊

Yes indeed!
This was exactly the comment i was going to make, line the new curtains with a white.
Yes,,A liner would definitely make a huge difference

Back when I was living back home in the eighties my father used to dye his jeans and shirts, so I saw it boiled and in a sink too.

Keep us posted your test results and DeeDee’s. Cannot wait to see the curtains and seats for the biscuits when finished.
Boiling fabric to Dye was an old fashioned style of setting colors. I can remember my Gran doing it once 😊
