10-19-21. I just "tripped" over this recording. When the music started, I was familiar with the music. As I was searching my cobwebbed mind for its title I read the comments identifying it as "Malaguena!" Flamenco dancing comes to mind; however the gorgeous Wanamaker Organ in its environment seems, to me, to be too heavy for the composition (which also sounded shortened?). Perhaps if the organ had "castanet" percussions? Anyway, thanks to BFF and Mr. Shaw for the experience, and hope for more. Now I'm off to find my Hector Olivera recording!
I believe this is a piece called Malagueña - I forget the name of the composer - which I heard on a recording of the Møller organ in the Fox Theatre, Atlanta, by Hector Olivera. This is a rather different interpretation/arrangement, but since it wasn’t originally written for the organ...
The piece was written by Ernesto Lecuona in my own transcription. I also have Hector’s recording at the Atlanta Fox and am very fond of it. I transcribed the piece right from Lecuona’s original piano score in the original key and make use of some of the special features of the Wanamaker Organ.
